Staff is always helpful and friendly. I point this out because I patronize this location more than other cities I stay in and staff here always say hello and will strike up a conversation. Well done East Peoria!
My only complaint, albeit minor, is for for two years (probably 15-20 nights) EVERY time I check in at this location they thank me for my Gold Level Status. I politely thank them and pleasantly remind them I am a Platinum Member and we have had this conversation for two years, they bend over backward and apologize for the error and state they will change in their system. It has even become a joke now when I check in they remember me as they guy who they can't figure out how to change status in their computer.
Not a big deal, but I believe I probably am losing reward points. Strange thing is this is the only HIE where I stay, across the country, that seems to have this challenge.

I have and will stay at this property several times. Only thing I disliked about this stay was the housekeeping supervisor knocking on the door at 745 to see if I had left. I guess I was raised old school that you don't do business before 8 AM.

Why does housekeeping knock on the door at 8:00 a.m.? This didn't happen on Saturday or Sunday fortunately (our housekeeping person over the weekend was exceptionally good), but it did happen on Monday. I find this very annoying. There must be some way for the front desk to communicate to them that we haven't checked out yet. They can check/clean the room after we check out.
It also happened the next day at the Holiday Inn in Duluth, MN at 8 a.m. It must be an IHG policy? Why? We pay enough for the room to be left alone that early in the morning during our stay. I like everything else about this brand of hotels but the disturbance from housekeeping bothers me.

I stayed last week at this hotel and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was so friendly, the rooms were immaculate and very roomy. The breakfast has a lot of choices and was delicious. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to staying there in the future. A++

Even tho' we were there at IHSA basketball time, it was very quiet. The front desk staff were accommodating, giving us adjoining rooms on the fourth floor (to be quieter). All of the staff were helpful and polite. The rooms were like new. Breakfast choices had good variety: cereals, oatmeal, French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (depending on the day), juice, fresh fruit, yogurt.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HFCoach325 Quality service and Met HIE high standards
For the price point, I've always found Holiday Inn Expresses to be one of the best choices, but the East Peoria one turned out to exceed my already high expectations with the sole exception of "only" average breakfast.
First, bringing a group of high school students for a competition is always tough, but the front desk was exceptionally courteous, accommodating with putting all rooms together, patient as I gathered my paperwork and payment, and answered all of our questions. Everything that could have been done in advance of getting our rooms ready (keys, prepared to take a check vs. credit card, and especially, wi-fi access instructions and password) were all done.
The rooms themselves were typical HIE, which is a very good thing. Clean, neat, well layed out, etc. Beds were too soft for my taste, but I feel that way about almost all hotels. Bathroom had a small lighting issue in terms of brightness, but a minimal problem (since the sink was outside the bathroom).
Most important consideration, noise from other rooms and hallway, was a complete non-issue. Maybe we had a good night, but I think the quality of the building was the issue.
Breakfast would be my only criticism. Compared to other HIE, the breakfast tea selection was minimal (1 type), the bacon was overcooked even for typical breakfast buffet style, and everything else just seemed ... average. Nothing wrong, but I've been to other similar breakfast layouts, both HIE and otherwise, thatwere done better. That being said, everything besides the bacon was perfect in terms of taste (and the bacon was certainly edible).
When myself and one of the students left something in the rooms, it was found and turned in by housekeeping, I received a phone call as soon as it was, and it was easily picked up as soon as we could get back to the hotel.
The once a year we hope to come to Peoria, I will plan on reserving rooms and staying here again. This was an excellent stay.

We visited Peoria to take a tour of Bradley University (which our son and we ALL loved). This Holiday Inn Express was very easily accessible and easy to find. It is close to a Target and Kohl's and several restaurants. The area seemed very safe and secure. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was very adequate- our son always loves the cinnamon rolls when we stay at a HIE.
The room was very clean and well-appointed. Our only criticism was the bed that my husband and I slept in had one of those holes in the middle where you roll toward the center all night. If you sat on the edge of the bed you literally would roll back. Had we been staying longer than one night, we would have asked to be moved to a new room. Due to that situation we did not get a good night's rest. That mattress needs to be replaced.
Dining tip: If you're in the mood to splurge on a big meal check out Alexander's Steak House. It's old school steak and potato with a salad bar- best steak we can remember tasting.
