Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Clivey Evening reception miserble
Morning reception better, evening meals over priced for the cost and poor value

When travelling I generally stay at Holiday Inns. The reason, you know what you are getting, excellent quality and value for money. The stay at Folkstone lived up to expectations, excellent service and good food. The location adjacent to the Chunnel was just what we needed after a long journey from the north of England, it enabled a refreshed and early start to our journey in France the next morning.
My only negative comment is that the internet could have been provided free of charge.

Two twin rooms booked on-line for total 3 people. On-line correctly shows charge for 2 rooms but bill on arrival showed an extra value per room "for 3rd person each room". Staff excellent and sorted it out after pointing it out but this has happened before. If there is a variation between on-line value and actual, I think this should be pointed out by staff at time of arrival so that it can be resolved immediately.
One room had air con set to automatic so unable to change temperature - staff attempted to sort from their counter controls but I gave up when I got back to the room to find the same problem. TV not accepting menu request so unable to set wake up call.
Second room air con unable to increase heat. Later found out from staff that it took 5 - 10 minutes to heat up. As this room was used by older member of staff, it showed that the room needed to have information about the heating control. We did check the TV menu which is quite extensive but it does not cover the air unit.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CCC1926 Quilt to small
We stayed one night and the overall experience was OK, the only downside was the size of the quilt on the bed, it was too small for the bed and did not provide sufficient cover for two people.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Perfect location for Channel Tunnel
We criticised this hotel for the muddled breakfast area when we travelled out but on the way back it seemed better. Nice quiet location and with perhaps less people around the breakfast area seemed fine.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express before a trip through the channel tunnel as suggested by Saga. We found that the staff were welcoming and helpful, no problems there.. However there were two downsides which have prompted my poor rating of the hotel. Firstly the instant coffee provided in the bedroom was foul and undrinkable and secondly the bed was small to start with and we were both expected to sleep under ONE SINGLE DUVET. This is totally unacceptable in any hotel. Hence I will not recommend your property.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Polythene11 Holiday Inn Express Folkestone
Generally good and good value, fairly standard Holiday Inn Express fayre. However, on arriving I was told there was likely to be a wait of 1 hour for a meal in the dining area (for just one person), which seemed a bit excessive. I went out by car and struggled to find anywhere handy. Very handy for the Euro Tunnel.
