Opened in 1992, the Mall of America is located about 15 minutes south of downtown Minneapolis. Its 96 acres of space welcomes over 40 million visitors a year - more than any other mall in the world.
4 levels, 530 stores, roller coasters, Barbie’s Dreamhouse, movies, restaurants and an aquarium - all of this and more awaits visitors to Minneapolis’s Mall of America. Calling all of this a “mall” really doesn’t do justice to the experience you’ll find here.
This all-encompassing indoor shopping and entertainment complex certainly has something to amuse everyone. It may take more than one visit to take it all in!
Like a theme park, The Mall of America is organized into four different zones. Each has it’s own design personality and is anchored by 4 large department stores, one at each corner. More than 500 stores line pedestrian walkways and include popular destinations like the Apple store, LEGO and wide variety of luxury brands. There is definitely something here for even the most serious shopaholic!
Need a break from shopping? Take a break in one of the mall’s 50-plus restaurants or the food court. Cuisines from across the globe are easy to find.
This is where the Mall of America really gets interesting. Where else will you find a thrill ride and a jellyfish under one roof?
The Nickelodeon Universe is located in the center of the mall. Visit with Nickelodeon characters or ride one of over 20 rides including the popular Avatar Airbender. This 7 acre park has plenty to choose from for all ages.
The Minnesota SEA LIFE Aquarium is located underneath the mall. This subterranean aquarium is home to over 10,000 sea creatures with plenty of interactive exhibits. It even houses the world’s largest jellyfish collection.
Still haven’t had enough? Hands on exhibits include a visit to Barbie’s Dreamhouse and a crime solving spree at CSI: The Experience.
Let your day wind down in one of 14 digital theaters, some of which are 3D capable. There is even a full lounge here to help you really relax.
