Basketball is a phenomenon in the Hoosier State – almost like a religious experience. It makes perfect sense, then, that Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers National Basketball Association men’s basketball team and the Indiana Fever Women's National Basketball Association team has the honor of being ranked as the finest NBA arena in the country, according to Sports Business Journal.
In addition to the basketball love widely available at the fieldhouse, it is also home ice for many Indiana Ice United States Hockey League games as well as a venue for concerts, rodeos, ice skating exhibitions, wrestling matches, and other major events held in the city of Indianapolis.
Box office hours at the fieldhouse are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The box office keeps later hours and is open some Sundays when there are scheduled events.
Bankers Life Fieldhouse originally opened in November 1999 as Conseco Fieldhouse. The name was changed in December 2011.
The arena has different seating capacities, depending on the event. For instance, the arena can seat 19,000 for concerts, 18,165 for basketball games, and up to 12,300 for ice hockey.
Visiting Bankers Life Fieldhouse
The fieldhouse is located in the heart of the Indianapolis downtown area, with the Pan Am Pavilion Ice Rinks, Indiana Convention Center, Circle Centre Mall, Lucas Oil Stadium, and St. John’s Catholic Church nearby.
There are plenty of excellent dining opportunities all within easy walking distance of the fieldhouse, including Old Spaghetti Factory, the Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, Hotbox Pizza, Harry and Izzy’s, and Kilroy’s Bar N’ Grill.
Parking is available at the Circle Centre Mall parking garage and other similar garages in the downtown area for a fee. There are buses downtown that provide transportation, as well as taxi services that are quite willing to ferry passengers to the fieldhouse. Anyone staying in a downtown area hotel should find the arena to be within reasonable walking distance.

The hotel recently (within the last three weeks) completed its refurbishment. It is beautiful and clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the appearance. Everything except the elevator (which could[More]
use a little love) was sparkling and new.
The beds were very comfortable with extra pillows already in the room - heaven!!
The room was huge - previously a suite, so plenty of room to move around.
Bath and Body toiletries were a pleasant surprise.
Unfortunately, the pool was not available - so that was a disappointment, but if it is completed in the same manner as the rest of the hotel - I would be happy.
Will definitely stay here again when visiting relatives. [Less]
