As the second of four theme parks built by Walt Disney World, Epcot is dedicated to the celebration of human achievement. It has a number of different exhibits and rides that celebrate the advances of modern life, it is necessary to spend several days at the park to truly experience all that Epcot has to offer. According to attendance reports, Epcot was the 6th most visited attraction in not just the United States, but the entire world in 2012.
Epcot opened in 1982 and is divided into two areas: Future World and World Showcase. Future World is dedicated towards exploring the technologies of the future with an emphasis on space adventure. Attractions and rides in Future World include Mission: Space, Spaceship Earth and the Test Track.
Designed to be fun and entertaining for a visitor of any age, each ride is designed to give a glimpse into the future of the US. Conversely, the World Showcase pays tribute to 11 countries from around the world including Mexico, Norway, China, the US, the UK, and France. Although the exhibits vary from country to country, visitors to each of the showcases will be able to participate in themed rides, live entertainment and try food from each nation.
In order to better accommodate the thousands of people who visit Epcot on a daily basis, the two areas open at different times. Future World usually opens at 9 AM and remains open till 7 PM while the World Showcase opens at 11 AM and remains open later in the night. During the peak tourist season, the entire park remains open till 9 PM or later.
Getting to the park is easy via either public transportation or a Walt Disney shuttle bus. The entire facility is connected by a bus system that allows guests to easily go from one theme park to the next. In total, Epcot has more than 50 restaurants and concession stands to keep you from starving while exploring the park.
