San Diego Zoo is home to over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species. That alone is very exciting, but this is one zoo that isn't satisfied with simply providing quantity. Every animal in the park has a beautiful and realistic exhibit area that feels like home for the animals, and provides a world-class experience for visitors.
What to Do at San Diego Zoo
As one of the largest and most well-renowned animal parks in the world, the San Diego Zoo is an exciting destination. Unlike many zoos, there is more to see than you can easily view in a day, so it is worth scheduling multiple days for a visit if you want to see everything SDZ has to offer.
The San Diego Zoo is one of the few in the United States that houses a Giant Panda, but that is only the beginning. A monkey area, multiple aviaries, Elephant exhibit, and, of course, big cats and bears make this a thrilling place to visit. Additionally, there is a play area for children that allow kids to run and play while learning more about the animals at the zoo.
Getting To and Around the Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is accessible by car and offers on-site parking. However, those who prefer public transportation will find that reaching it by transit is easy, too, using San Diego's MTS. Finally, since there is so much to do, it may pay off to stay at a nearby hotel and take advantage of the free shuttle service that provides door-to-gate service.
The San Diego Zoo is an exciting place to visit, but the organization behind the zoo does much for animals as well. If you are interested in the conservation efforts made by the zoo, you may want to look into spending time at the nearby safari park (a short 30 minute ride away). The website offers more information about the programs available there.
