Home to the NBA's Chicago Bulls and the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks, the United Center is a must-see attraction during any visit to Chicago. Although it was opened in 1994, the United Center has recently been renovated to fit more guests comfortably and to install new features such as a giant scoreboard.
The United Center has a history steeped in tradition, with three NBA Championships and two NHL Stanley Cup Championships. Hanging from the rafters of the United Center are retired jerseys of some of the greatest athletes in their respective sports, including Michael Jordan's #23. A visit to the United Center highlights why Chicago is such a good sports town.
In addition to hosting more than 80 Bulls and Blackhawks games during the year, the United Center also holds the Big 10 Men's Basketball Tournament in March, the WWE and many more sporting events.
When the NBA and NHL seasons go on hiatus, the United Center transforms into a spectacular arena for concerts and musical events, the Barnum & Bailey Circus and political events like the Democratic National Convention.
Visiting the United Center
The United Center is easily accessible by public transportation. Simply take the CTA Purple, Orange, Brown or Green rail lines to Madison, and the United Center will be just a short walk away. Because it is located in the heart of Chicago, finding a hotel near the United Center is easy.
Although the United Center does not offer guided tours, the stadium is open daily for visitors to purchase tickets. In addition to purchasing tickets at the Box Office, tickets can be found through the venue's website or through a third-party vendor.
Once inside the United Center, visitors are encouraged to explore every nook and cranny. Keep your eyes on the Jumbotron for the chance to spot former Chicago sports stars who make it a point to attend many games at the United Center. Do not worry about going hungry because the United Center has numerous concessions, including the legendary Extreme Loaded Dog.
