Ready to travel back in time? The Warwick Castle in Warwickshire, England can give you a blast to the past. Built in 1068 by William the Conqueror, this restored castle allows you to explore almost a thousand years of history.
What to See
The possibilities are endless and the lines are short as Warwick Castle, as every inch of the grounds is covered in exciting sights and fun activities. Start at the Mound, the oldest part of the castle, and take in the gorgeous views of the entire grounds. Stop by the Victorian Rose or Peacock gardens or give your little ones a chance to play at the Pageant Playground.
While you're on the grounds, try to pull the sword from the stone and learn about the legends of King Arthur, head to the mews to see the birds of prey, or watch the largest working trebuchet in the world in action. Moving into the castle, you'll find magnificent rooms filled with suits of armor and gorgeous portraits. Your little princess will be delighted by The Princess Tower, an interactive exhibit where the princess of the castle needs your help to solve a riddle and free her prince from a spell.
Although they cost extra, Warwick Castle's special attractions are well worth it. Are you a fan of the hit BBC television show, Merlin? Step into the Dragon Tower for a special interactive experience, including the opportunity to see the Great Dragon for yourself!
If a dragon doesn't sound scary enough and you are particularly brave of heart, head down to The Castle Dungeon and prepare to be scared! This special, interactive exhibit gives you the chance to meet a lively cast of characters, including a torturer, an rather inventive cook, a brutally harsh judge, and an accused witch.
