Located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, PNC Park is the home of the MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates. Although not the largest stadium by any measure, the 38,362-seat park is considered one of baseball's most classic venues.
In addition to being the home of the Pirates, PNC Park is also host to many college baseball games and concerts. Currently, talks are occurring between MLB and NHL executives about using PNC Park for an outdoor hockey game featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In the backdrop of center field lies the Allegheny River. Because it lies more than 420 feet from home plate, only two players in the stadium's thirteen year history have ever hit a baseball into the river during an official game.
Visiting PNC Park
Because it is important for fans to have a clear view of the action on the field, PNC Park is one of the rare baseball stadiums that has only two levels of seating. In fact, of the nearly 40,000 seats in PNC Park, about 26,000 are on the lower level. As a result, there is no bad seat at PNC Park, and each seat features an impressive view of the Pittsburgh skyline.
Best of all, tickets to PNC Park are the third cheapest in MLB, making attending a Pirates game attainable for almost any budget.
Famous for having some of the best ballpark food in baseball, PNC Park features food from local eateries like Mrs. T's Pierogies, Manny's BBQ, and Augustine's Pizza. If you come hungry to the stadium, head straight to the All You Can Eat seating section where fans have access to an unlimited supply of hot dogs, nachos, salad, popcorn, hamburgers, and much, much more.
PNC Park is conveniently located just off of Exit 1B on the Interstate 279. In addition, the park is accessible by Pittsburgh's public transportation system.
Fans are invited to attend a tour of PNC Park held during baseball season from April 2nd through September 26th. Tours are given Monday through Friday and occur on both game and non-game days. Tours include a visit to the Pirates Clubhouse, Pirates Dugout, and the batting cages.
