Walruses, penguins, Beluga whales, polar bears, and of course killer whales - all are part of any visit to the original SeaWorld in San Diego, California. With 20 shows, 26 animal habitats, 10 rides, 2 play areas, and 11 interactive animal experiences to choose from, any visit to SeaWorld is a busy, busy trip!
Since 1964 this lovely park - part marine mammal sanctuary, part aquarium and part theme park - has graced San Diego’s Mission Bay, and has become the standard by which all other marine animal parks are judged. While SeaWorld offers a wide variety of entertainment options, all of them have one thing in common - a high quality guest experience and a wealth of opportunities to learn more about the world under our oceans.
Any visit to SeaWorld, San Diego should include at least a few of these favorites:
Located at the guest entry gate, this newest SeaWorld exhibit gives visitors a sense of being under the water. Four separate touch pools allow guests to feel and feed fish and even a shark.
This is SeaWorld’s signature show featuring the one and only Shamu, the killer whale. All ages will enjoy seeing these amazing animals perform to a multi-media display of sound, color and light. Be careful though - you may get very wet!
This dolphin extravaganza is a long time SeaWorld favorite. Dolphins, birds, pilot whales and human aerialists come together in this amazing performance about exploring our oceans.
Rides here offer a thrill for everyone. Older riders can tackle the biggest coaster of them all, the giant Manta, get wet on the Journey to Atlantis or take a spin on the Riptide Rescue. Youngsters won’t want to miss the Sesame Street Bay of Play - an area full of smaller sized thrills. And the whole family will enjoying seeing the park from overhead on the Bayside Skyride.
If all this isn’t enough, sign up for one of over a dozen behind-the-scenes and interactive animal experiences. Get up close to penguins and sea lions, or interact with dolphins and Beluga whales for a once in a lifetime animal encounter.
