The hotel and room were just fine but I've stayed at a lot of Candlewood Suites over the years for 30-50% less money. It was an average suite that did not have a separate sitting area like some[More]
others that I've stayed in. You won't be overly disappointed with your stay, just understand that it's nothing special for the rate. [Less]
"Well maintained, older property with great staff"
From the moment we arrived, Timothy, the front desk clerk made our stay great. This is an older Holiday Inn property that has been well maintained. Shuttle service to and from IAD is reliable and[More]
convenient. Taking the shuttle to IAD then a simple bus to the Metro provides easy access to Washington DC for those who wish the experience.
We were here on a layover due to a missed flight and were able to easily get in and out of DC seeing the White House, Monuments and the Mall and get back and forth from the hotel.
Staff is GREAT here. Mary, also a front desk clerk, was another example of how good the staff here is. [Less]
In this review I will tell you what the negatives were for me - they may not be negatives for you.
I need gluten free food. There was little I could choose from at the breakfast bar - basically only[More]
boiled eggs, fruit and yoghurt. Okay for a few days but not longer. Otherwise the options, though basic, were probably good enough to please most people. On the plus side for me, the majority of the fruit provided was fresh (not tinned) and enjoyable.
I prefer a firm mattress with a soft layer on the top. The mattress was firm but without sufficient softness for me. Most people probably prefer a firmer mattress than I do.
As the room was designed for two people only, it would be better to replace the large lounge suite sometime with a smaller one and use the space freed up to provide a small table were two people can sit together to eat their evening meal. Again, this is my preference. If you are happy to sit and eat in front of the TV, or eat at a restaurant, this will not be an issue for you.
Even taking the above into my evaluation, I found my stay here a very positive experience and both recommend Staybridge Suites to you and would stay here again myself. [Less]
