On our check-out day, cleanning staff came to knocked our door before 9 am, asked my husband if he wanted them to come back later. He said yes. He went out to start packing, and I just went to the toilet, well before 10 am, another knock on the door, I couldn't answer, as I was sitting on toilet, hearing two female cleaners came into the room, " God still here". It stopped me what I was about to do feling very cross, went out of the room, and asked them "what time is the check-out?" One of them said "12 o'clock". I told them that we were checking out that day, went out of the room in about 5 min to the reception to check-out. I asked receptionist if they notify cleaners which room is checking out the day, and she said, yes. It's not very nice at all to be chacked out of the room well before check-out time, especially, being Gold Member, we could stay till 2pm. I did get apologies from them, but I just wanted to inform you of the unpleasant experience.

Lovely hotel and reception staff. Good parking. My only gripe was that the room was way too hot and we could not cool it down. Fab breakfast staff, very helpful.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RobinS Good location but understaffed F+B Operation
This is the second time I have stayed here in recent months, as the hotel is well located for my Head Office. Reception staff are friendly and efficient and rooms are clean and comfortable - though TV reception is intermittent.
On both occasions that I have stayed, I have found my bill to be incorrect when checking out, due to the wrong drinks items being accredited to my bill. This I believe is down to the fact that Food and Beverage staff appear to be overworked. There never seems to be enough staff on hand to offer proper service. They are always in a rush to serve the next customer, and I expect this is what leads to mistakes in billing. Reception staff have put things right on both occasions, but it is a shame that the overall experience of eating in the hotel is not as pleasant as it might be if staff were afforded the time to be as good as they could be. As a result I am put off the idea of staying at the bar for a couple of drinks, because of the waiting time involved.

I stayed over the Christmas period and not everything went as smoothly as it might,/ An unpredictable rush at breakfast caused ques and shortages.
However staying again two weeks later all ran smoothly.
I arrived much later than planned, and the night porter opened up the bar so I could enjoy a double malt .
The breakfast staff remembered me from my earlier visit.
Best of all my room was an upgrade and most appreciated.
I have stayed many times before, and will do so again. it is a good quality hotel in a convenient location, whether as a stopover or as a base for exploring the area.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by sandy20 nice room pity about noise from function room until early hours
the hotel is a very nice hotel which l have used many times
I am sorry to say this visit was a let down as my family was put in a room above a function with a loud DJ not good when you are with children.
Resturant staff had no idea of meal offer and food not as ordered not up to the usual standard of this hotel.
The receptionist was very helpfull and apologised for what had happened.

The lancaster Holiday Inn is perfectly positioned a short journey from from the M6 Motorway. If your visiting Lancaster is a very good lacation for seeing the many attractions of Lancaster.
The really guenuin welcome to the Inn puts you in a great frame of mind on arrival. The room staff are friendly and the catering staff are really helpful and make you feel as though you are a person and not a number,

It’s not often that I compliment someone , but on this occasion I must give full credit to Scott on reception duty. What an ambassador for the hotel in the manner in which we were checked in and could not be more helpful and attentive as this was an unexpected stop here due to a ferry being cancelled. Better still I was pleasantly suprised that they accepted dogs and good safe walking along the river.
Other members of staff were efficient in all other departments and compliments to the management for running a good hotel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ChemistKelvin Great location, good leisure facilities
Close to Lancaster and the South Lakes, a cosy and welcoming hotel. Plenty of free parking and on-site leisure centre with pool are added bonuses. The family room was large with two comfy double beds, and as usual the bathroom was spotless.
A great base to explore this area

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grommit Exactly as required - as expected
We use Holiday Inns for the consistency and quality of the rooms, services and amenities. We can rely on cleanliness and comfort.
Food and menus vary from hotel to hotel within the brand - in Lancaster the meals and breakfast are very good.
The only adverse comment we can make is the cost of WiFi - surely it should be free these days.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Isis790 Good value
The stay represented good value. The room was comfortable and we had a good sleep. Let down by a lack of minor room maintenance i.e. inner door skin of bathroom door was loose and shower head was split.
The reception staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.

I have stayed here a few times the hotel and facilities are good the rooms are very good, as a traveller I ‘m away in hotels 2/3 nights a week and generally eat bar meals but on this occasion should have gone to the restaurant all I could say it was ok, hence average marking apart from that this hotel is ideal in location, friendly staff, quality and value for money.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Chop Platinum Priority Club Member? - don't expect an upgrade!
Another Holiday Inn location with the dinosaur attitude that upgrades for Platinum Priority Club members are a 'freebie' and not a Reward for loyalty and custom! I was told by the receptionist on check-in (she was also duty manageress) that the hotel was full and there were no upgrades available. I checked on-line and also with Central reservations which confirmed that there was plenty of availability including Executive Rooms. When I questioned the duty manageress she replied that "Oh Central always overbook rooms!" Not a great reflection on the Holiday Inn booking system if true! I returned the hotels' loyalty to me by dining and also taking breakfast over the road! No doubt the Manager will respond with abundant excuses and protestations of how this Holiday Inn values its' Platinum members - but actions speak louder than words. I will not be returning and in future will use the plentiful supply of alternative accommodation in this area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Feems Perfect to break up journey and pet friendly !!
Perfect for motorway stopover. Comfy bed, Excellent breakfast, excellent value for money and for an extra tenner your dog can sleep in the room too!
have stayed here a few times and will continue to use in future. Only a few cons if I was being picky which are
small bath - im pregnant and only size 12 and 5ft 7 - bath made for someone half my size and a midget.
Road noise from motorway - if your knackered and looking for quick stop over you wont notice it though.
I can say hotel is clean, breakfast is always excellent, staff are wonderful, good telly with lots of channels,, lots of parking space, easy to reach from either side of motorway and Most importantly my dog is welcome - deal breaker for me.

We have stayed here now three times, It is a great location and within reasonable distance from the lakes etc. My only criticism is that the bar prices are really high and because of this we had no other option but to go elsewhere which was a shame

Enjoyed our stay but lack of communication between reception and restaurant staff put a bit of a dampener on our stay, along with being alocated an unmade room on arrival that meant we had to return to reception.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Derekjs Perhaps it was Christmas
This is an excellent stopping off location if travelling the M6 as it is just minutes from the motorway.
We always try and stay at Intercontinental Group hotels as we find them good value and they uphold good service.
The normal excellent welcome was missing when we arrived at around 8pm with probably the quickest handover of keycard ever.. Asking about dinner we were told it would be ok !
Hotel itself clean and efficient as usual and rooms very good size and everything fine on that front.
Bar was left unstaffed for quite a while resulting in a few of us waiting but that isn't really a big deal
Having been told everything would be ok for dinner the restaurant area seemed very busy and it was just as well we checked with the restaurant staff and they fitted us in.
The restaurant menu was limited and we put this down to it being around Christmas and this may also have been the reason for the reception and bar being as it was. However the food was very good and next morning's breakfast was equally as good although beans were missing which is most unusual in Lancashire !
Would stay again without doubt.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by jones73 not the usual holiday inn standards
I arrived at this hotel just before 9pm,i booked an executive room on line on a flexible rate.On arrival i was told somebody with the same surname had been allocated my room and this would be rectified. After 2 hours of sitting with my suitcase i was finally allocated my room, but only because i asked once again if my room was ready although the reception and myself were in line of sight.
On arrival to my room i noted i had been allocated a standard room(without my consent or acknowledgement)but as it was 11pm i didnt want to pursue anyfurther into the small hours of the morning.
Overall i have stayed in the holiday inn brand on many occasions and have become a platinum member,This is by far not the level of service to treat any guest in any hotel establishment and would be put off to ever stay again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hen62 Great room and excellent facilities
Just enjoyed a 6 night stay at the Holiday Inn Lancaster. The room was very comfortable, with all you need for a great stay, the ususal tea/coffee making facilities and a great TV on which you could order movies to your room. The only down side was the price you had to pay for internet facilities so we didn't use them. However the staff were very accomodating and sorted out any small problems we had very quickly eg no towels left one day but a whole set were brought straight away. The hotel is very handy for travel on the M6 in either direction and only minutes from Lancaster town centre. There are also excellent leisure facilities although we did not use them this time. We will certainly return there again.

Hotel now showing its age. If you get a room on the side of the hotel facing Caton Road don't expect to get much sleep - road noise all night but gets worse from 5am.
Took 25 minutes to check out - never seen a queue like it!

Having just had a recent bad experience at another Holiday Inn hotel, I approached my three day stay here with apprehension. I could not have been more surprised.
From the first encounter at check in until the last minute of check out my wife and I hade a great hotel experience.
Friendly and helpful staff; good, comfortable room; pleasant bar; nice restaurant - everything contributed to our dellghtful stay in this hotel.
The hotel is well placed for exploring The Lakes and north Lancashire with very easy access and good parking.
I would highly recommend this hotel for pleasure or business.
