Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Friendly Staff, Good Breakfasts and... construction is mostly done I stayed at this hotel on May 10 thru 12. Staff was very friendly, room was clean and comfortable, breakfasts were good - one suggestion would be to also offer a couple types of cut-up fruit. Prior to staying here (but after I already made my reservations) I read the previous reviews by other guests and was concerned about the whole construction/remodeling thing. Just to update the record, the construction/remodeling is complete with only a few outside signs of finishing activities, the American flag looked to be in good shape, good restaurant selection nearby and the drive into south Lexington only took15 minutes. Was a pleasant stay and (given the remodeling is complete) I would recommend this hotel to others. May 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor accessibility & upgrading in place. I've been a Platinum member for a number of years and this was the first time I stayed @ a H.I.E. property that was some (25) minutes from the interstate. It was clearly not stated that way on the H.I.E. website which was misleading to say the least. I was not recognized as a Platinum member, there was no indication on the website that there was a MAJOR upgrade taking place (one month later than the contract), paint smell in the room was not appealing, there was no couch, table & chairs and there was a large hole behind the spigot in the shower that I'm assuming should have been caulked. I know this property will be a 'premier' site once the upgrades are completed, but I believe the website should reflect this information prior to someone booking it. The May 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Under construction I have been a Priority Club member since 1990, and this was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. When I arrived the hotel was under construction, and it only got worst from there. When I made the reservation there was no mention of this. I came to Lexington to see my son, hoping to watch the final four (2 games), and the TV was from the 80's - 90's. Could not watch it back in the room. You could not look out the window, because their was plastic over it. The fumes from painting and other remodeling was noxious. It was a beautiful day, but no benches outside to sit and take it in. I asked to see the Manager when I checked out on Sunday, but he was unavailable. I asked the desk clerk to have him call me, that I wanted to speak with him. I waited more than a week, and called him again today, and I still have not gotten a call back. Very disappointing with that as well. April 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Construction and Crusty Eggs We had a very disappointing stay at this location during the last week of March 2013. When I called to make the reservation I heard banging in the background. When I inquired about the noise the clerk said that there was some construction going on on the first and second floor but that we would be on the third floor so it shouldn't affect us. I was also told it was only during the day. Fast forward to our arrival...every floor was under construction or had plywood walls and chain locks. We did not see another guest, just construction workers and staff. When we returned from our dinner out construction was still going on at 9:00 pm. I called the front desk to inquire as to when the pounding would stop and was told that they work until quiet hours which begin at 11:00PM!!! The clerk offered to ask them to stop- which he did. Ultimately they stopped about 1/2 hour later. I don't know about you all but my family was on the road all day and were zonked! We sure didn't want to have to ask for construction to stop, none-the-less request it to stop. The next morning breakfast was in a room mostly completed and the choices were plenty but the eggs were scary looking and they were the primary form of protein. The scrambled eggs were brown and dried out and the hard boiled eggs were pre-peeled and slimy. Normally I wouldn't even mention the eggs but the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth for Holiday Inn, a name that we trusted. I have never felt so neglected and undervalued in all of my years of traveling. We travel by road fairly regularly and stay in mid-range hotels like this. I really felt like Holiday Inn shouldn't be hosting guests at this point in their renovations or they should be offering a substantial discount! April 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Indy1004 This hotel is curently under massive repairs and can be a bit disappointing at 1st. The changes will make this hotel very nice. The staff is friendly and will provide great service. My room was clean as expected. Overall experience satisfactory. March 23, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by no directional signage during renovation, dirty, shredded US flag, high sound transmission between rooms, indifferent GM, full rack rate ! I have stayed here many times, but will never stay again. As a hotel designer, I understand the difficult conditions that present themselves while in the midst of a renovation. Typically however, the staff goes out of it's way to offset the disruption by making the experience one of "change" rather than indifference. With the exception of one member of the staff who checked me in, I was confronted with almost total apathy (housekeepers excluded). Renovations are never an easy, but there is no excuse for not informing the guest or providing much needed signage. Upon leaving the hotel, I glanced up and saw the US flag flying in tatters. I thought it was a sad statement by a rather sad hotel. Lest you think I am being overly critical, I will stress that previous stays had been delightful. March 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Under Construction I booked 2 nights at this venue and was not told it was under construction. I arrived to find a hotel with construction gates around the entrance, plastic sheeting covering the hallway walkways, and an overall smell of paint fumes. I was awakened Saturday and Sunday mornings, prior to 8:30am, by the sound of drilling and the voices of construction workers. I stayed on the 3rd floor, in an end room, and construction was being completed a few feet away, at the end of the hallway. When I asked about the construction, I was merely told this was the worst it was going to get. That did not help. When I voiced my complaint to customer service, I was told they would pass my concerns on to the hotel, so they could put it in their book. This also did not help. I have come to expect quite a lot from this hotel chain, and I was very disappointed. February 1, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Non qualifying stay for railroad employees? Non qualifying stay for railroad employees? Just because we stay there as a company. We do have the choice to go elsewhere. January 22, 2013
