Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Helpful Staff I found the counter staff at the HIE Onalaska to be very friendly and helpful. We called at the last minute for room reservations and Shiloh was very pleasant and courtious to our needs. One evening we asked Melissa (hope I have her name right) if she could make us a pot of coffee and she went out of her way to accomodate us so we could sit, relax and discuss business. Every staff member greeted us daily as we were coming and going in a very friendly welcoming manner. Congrats to the whole staff. The best review I have given any motel and I stay primarily at IHG brand motels. April 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bed and Pillows need to be updated We stay in a lot of Holiday Inn Express hotels in different locations. This was the first time we have had an issue with the mattress and pillows. They are kind enough to give us a choice of firm or soft but none of the choices were as listed. They were basically HARD. The mattress was noisy and soft. Every movement and turning over was felt by the other person and this was a king size bed. Since they were updating the couches in the rooms maybe the mattresses and pillows will be next. We can only hope. February 15, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hello, where are the front desk employees?????? Very poor customer service from your front desk staff. When I wanted to check out, no one was available. I know 5:20 am is early, but not unreasonable. I actually had to come back to the hotel later to check out that morning. When I returned, no one was at the front desk again. I dropped my keys on the counter to make noise, loudly asked, "Hello" and it was not until I walked up to the breakfast area and asked if anyone worked there that the young lady who was running the front desk turned around from her sitting down position chatting with a friend with her back to the desk, finally came to check me out. I also did not get greated as a priority club member and was not offered any type of free upgrade as was my understanding, when there was availabillity and it was a very slow night. Doubt I will stay here again. January 7, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Won't be coming back! We stayed at this hotel from December 28 to December 30. When we walked into the room it smelled very stale - possibly cigarette smoke. I could write my name in the dust by the refrigerator and there were hairs behind the bathroom door that were not ours. There was something on the drapes, not sure what it was, not sure I want to know. The green blanket on the end of the bed had a strong smell of cologne that was not ours. When I was packing up on Sunday morning and looking under the beds, etc to make sure we hadn't left anything, I couldn't believe what I saw. Under one bed there was a bottle cap and two Sprees that had obviously been there a long time. When I looked under the other bed I found a sock that wasn't ours. Then I looked behind the drapes and there was another sock (not ours# that didn't match the first sock I found. When we checked out I was hoping they would ask if everything was ok. They did not, but I brought it up. The lady working the front desk could have cared less, but a lady came around the corner when I started talking about it, showed her the pictures I had taken and she apologized. The other thing is that the walk area for the handicap parking was full of ice and snow. When I mentioned this on Saturday morning to the lady working the front desk #who I am pretty sure was the same one that was working Sunday), I was met with a blank stare. No "I'll look into it, we will get it taken care of, sorry" etc. On a bright note it was cleaned up about 2 hours later when we left the hotel. There is no way a handicap person could have traversed that area. I am a Priority Club member and Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn are my hotels of choice, but not this one. I will not be staying at this one again. January 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Supportive and compationate. My wife and I traveled home for the holidays (Thanksgiving) to visit the kids and grand kids when we found out my daughter (34 with 3 children) had been rushed to the hospital with pnemonia. After our scheduled stay we found out she had gotten much worse. In fact the doctors decided it was best to put her in an induced comma and install a respirator. Then things got worse, she got blood infection and needed dialysis, plus her kidneys started to shut down. All the personnel at this location was very very thoughtful and caring. They made our stay very comfortable knowing we spent the entire days at the hospital worrying about our daughter. We were able to relax some during the evenings by bring our young grand children to the hotel to hang out, swim and having pizza pool side. I have stayed at this location many times in the past for business and pleasure and plan on staying in this location every time I'm in the area. Everyone was great...helping out in countless ways. That was about a month ago and I'm pleased to inform you and the staff at the Onalaska Holiday Inn that my daughter has made a remarkable recovery. She was recently released to go home. She still has a long road to complete recovery but she is making progress every day. Thank you Holiday Inn Onalaska, WI. Bob December 12, 2012
