Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place To Stay! If one is ever driving I-70 and needed a place to stay at I highly reccommend this hotel! For a small town you cannot beat the quality of service and comfort you get from this hotel. The staff is very good and they know their stuff, just ask them how to get around St. Louis and they will tell you. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and their swimming pool is top notch! I stayed here with my wife and 4 nephews so that we could visit some family friends in town and go to the St. Louis Zoo (St. Louis is only an hour drive to the west of here). The breakfast was delicious (always is from Holiday Inn Express hotels), but the only "Con" I can give this hotel is that they need to hire additional staff as their front desk covers to breakfast area as well. They need to hire a true breakfast attendant as this hotel fills up each and every night and always has a huge crowd for breakfast. WAY TO GO VANDALIA HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS!! I will stay here again when we come back to vist our friends in town. June 3, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by two visits in one week I stayed at this Holiday Inn Express from 5/21 to 5/23 and again from 5/28 to 5/30. First time to visit family. Second time for family emergency. Both rooms where exactly what you would expect from this name brand chain of hotels. From the linens to the staff ( 5 star) Indoors and outside everything was neat and orderly. Well lite at night-no need to worry about security. Breakfast buffet has a huge variety from hot or cold foods. .fresh fruit muffins ,teas, coffee ,meats ,eggs . Friendly staff . Not the fake kind of friendly but the kind of helpfulness you show your family. I will be returning this hotel in my future visits. June 1, 2013

My only complaint would be that breakfast choices were limited and the attendant wasn't available while we were down for breakfast. The pancake machine wasn't working, there were no hard boiled eggs and the scrambled eggs were almost gone and what was there was dry looking. There wasn't any fruit out. The attendant showed up as we were ready to leave and started to refill things, apologized that she had been in a meeting but we had to leave so just ate some yogurt and got a coffee to take with us. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the Better HIX Stayed two nights (two separate bookings). Easy on/off from I-70. Both rooms were excellent. Nice furniture, flat-screen TV, bed, refrigerator. Quieter than most. Larger than average bathrooms. Nice breakfast/commons area. Breakfast typical HIX offerings. April 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay! Wonderful stay. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more friendly. Breakfast was very good. Wished for fresh fruit. Room was clean and well maintained - as was the whole property. Gym, spa and pool were very nice. Only drawback was the Wal-Mart next door had semi trucks idling all night. Even then it was still pretty quiet. Get an even numbered room. As with most hotels - the black out curtains didn't transect, but barely met in the middle. Carry a clothes pin. Will say that even the in room coffee was good - and that is a REAL rarity. Thanks much for a good stay. March 22, 2013
