Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quick weekend getaway with family For the better part of twenty years, this hotel has been my go to hotel while in Galveston. Over the years they have been consistent with the quality of service. I think right now the staff is one of the better I have encountered, they are warm friendly and inviting from the time you walk in the door greeted by Leesa's beautiful smile. The hostess and servers in the restaurant in particular; Santiago, Carlos and Yulia are extremely engaging. Family friendly and fun for the kids what more can you ask for. July 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Will go next door to San Luis next time.... We have stayed here on our points multiple times and have been pleased, this time was a horrible experience. First thing we got a horrible room that smelt like cigarette smoke on the 2nd floor that had a lovely view of the roof and huge airconditioning units and nothing else. We somehow got a conjointing room and the family next door kept us up till 2:30am in the morning. Then the hotel tried to overcharge us for the whole stay, that we were staying on points, we were not the only ones that had that problem either. We as a whole agreed we will likely not return to this holiday Inn location and will stay at the San Luis for future trips. July 28, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by some rooms have poor views Most of the rooms look onto the lobby building. Some on the lower floors, especially the family suites look directly into a wall. Even though I have a high rewards point balance, we were booked into a room that was over the lobby/air conditioners. We asked for a new room and thankfully got one that overlooked the parking lot and the building next door, but it was better. There are signs all over that you can take advantage of the amenities next door, but not the pool, so that's nothing special. Anyone can go into any hotel and use the restaurants and spa. The internet was sketchy. We didn't have access for 2 of the 4 days. They provide glass drinking glasses, which is nice, but they weren't changed out. We had to go to the front desk, which sent us to the restaurant for some clean ones. The shampoo and other toiletries were not replenished on the last 2 days. The housekeeping in general was inconsistent. They have a program to reuse your towels to save the environment. However, there is one hook on the door and no other towel bars or rings to hang the towels up for reuse. You can't reuse them if there's nowhere to let them dry. The use of the term resort is a little broad in this case. It's a fairly nice hotel, but the pool area is small and there isn't a hot tub. There is one restaurant and one bar. It was important to us that we had a sandy beach across the road and not just rocks, and that is a big reason we chose this particular hotel. It was a nice place to walk along the beach and the seawall. July 28, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay ruined by bad customer service The hotel itself is easily accessible and a great value with proximity to the beach. You must stay above the 3rd floor to be comfortable and away from all the pool and club traffic. During the stay the staff was friendly and helpful and after our business meetings were able to step quickly to the beach or enjoy the nearby food and shops. However, after the stay their was an issue with my final bill and I was unable to get the proper customer service to resolve the matter. This hotel has great potential it just needs a better management team with the ability to resolve matters in a professional and timely manner. July 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Stay The overall stay at this location was less than desirable. I was really looking forward to coming to this property as we stay here frequently every year because it has always suited the purpose and is conveniently located. Upon arrival, the staff was less than friendly, the room wasn't up to par, the pool was not usable and when I requested a refund so that I could switch hotels, it was denied. I am just not sure we will be back! The a/c smelt like it was burning and the real issue was that the kids couldn't swim! July 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room Small, AC loud, but all clean I was a little disappointed with the width of the room as it was smaller than most hotels. The AC unit seemed to be a little loud and not sure it was really working well cause on "auto" it never turned off. All in all the room and facility were clean. Little pricey for what you get but all in all not bad. July 27, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Only disappointment was the pool We enjoyed every aspect of our stay except for the pool. We realize this is a family hotel but the pool was constantly crowded with children. We wanted to relax in the pool in the evening with a cocktail but it was impossible. It would have been nice if there could have been an "adult swim" every hour or so. July 27, 2015
