Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pure Luxury! Our recent stay at the Amstel was the highlight of our 6 country visit to Central and Northern Europe. Each and every employee at this hotel was top notch. The friendly staff and impeccable attention to all details surpassed our expectations. From the minute we stepped into the opulent lobby, we knew we were in for an incredible experience. This property exudes charm and beauty. The pool and spa were especially wonderful. The location was perfect, with the trams and metro just steps away. Watching all the boats cruising by the terrace was spectacular. Thank you Amstel for everything and if our travels take us back to Amsterdam, we will definitely see you again. August 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Five star hotel does not necessarily equal five star service We had booked a second round of stay (we had stayed for a week earlier and was taking a two-day visit to Paris) at Amstel. We requested (as we did on our first leg of the trip) to have an extra bed in the room for our daughter. We checked in around 10:30 pm after arriving late from Paris. We went up to our room but the extra bed/cot was not in the room so I called reception. The staff acknowledged this and said they would put the bed in our room. We didn't have a proper dinner so we went down to the bar for a snack. I was tired so about 45 minutes later I went back to the room and there still was no extra bed. I went down to the lobby to talk to the staff who checked us in and finally at that point she told us that there was no extra bed available. At this point it was nearly midnight and I didn't expect a five star hotel to take so long to confirm that an extra bed was not available. It wasn't as though we didn't request it before our arrival and I was surprised to find out how unprepared the hotel was upon our arrival. The staff ended up putting us in two adjoining rooms so that our daughter could have a bed to sleep in. However, we ended up moving rooms again the following day since we preferred the original room we had. Other than this snafu that further delayed our rest the first night, we had an extremely pleasant stay at the hotel. I was just wasn't expecting this oversight from Amstel. August 28, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WARNING - this hotel will raise future expectations...! There are some hotels where you dont need to ask what star rating they are. This is one of them. The hotel oozes class and charisma, and the staff here are uber-polite and helpful. As for the rooms - they take your breath away. Booked King executive, upgraded to Corner King Executive with Canal View. The room was massive and historically decorated in a way that does not make you think dated and chintzy. We had a drink at the bar, and upon asking about the differences between the local gin (jenever) was informed that as a I was a hotel guest the bar manager would conduct a complimentary impromptu jenever tasting for us ( I have paid a lot of money for a lot less of this type of of ting in London). I had high expectactions in advance, but I did not expect to be blown away like I was. This is what staying at an IC should be like. August 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great 3-Night Break Beautiful building, attentive staff and in a great location. There's really not much more you can ask for when planning a 3-night break. The hotel is in a beautiful part of Amsterdam and the main sights are all very walkable. The rooms are spacious and well appointed (thought the blackout curtains could be a bit more effective). Very happy with our choice of hotel for this visit and we'll definitely be back. August 25, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience! Bravo! Our family had an incredible time at Amstel Hotel. The pool was a bonus, since we did not know Amstel had a pool. Our daughter had an excellent time swimming, most of the time we had the entire place to ourselves! August 17, 2015
