Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 by Beautiful property but too many issues. I chose the hotel because of its reputation as well as its location. I was taking my daughter to Summerfest and wanted to be close to the grounds. I called the hotel before making my reservation to check to see if it offers a shuttle service to Summerfest. I was told that yes, a new shuttle service had recently been started, and that I should tell the front desk that I would need a ride to and from the festival grounds during my check-in. When checking in, I did just that, and was told that I had been given the wrong information – the hotel did not offer a shuttle service. I was very surprised and explained to the representative that I had called before I made my reservation to ensure that transportation would be available. She then asked for the name of the person I spoke with, which I could not provide as I did not think I would need to provide proof of my conversation. After several minutes she called someone else who informed her that I could use the shuttle service provided by the (review would not allow me to provide the name). I was given that number and called. I know that this hotel's employees are not under the Intercontinental's management, but the gentlemen who I spoke with was very rude. If the Intercontinental does in fact partner with (review would not allow me to provide the name), they should ensure that their guests are treated better. He told me that I could get a ride to Summerfest, but that the hotel had other priorities and that I could not get a ride back. I was surprised at his tone but made a reservation to be picked up at 6:30. At 6:50 I had to call the transportation line, only to find out that he had never written down my reservation, and there was no record of us needing a ride. I ultimately got a ride to Summerfest but had to take a taxi back to the hotel. Upon returning to the hotel I found that my air conditioning was not working. A gentleman from the front desk came up to look at it but could not fix it. Because it was 11:30pm there was no maintenance person on staff. I was given the choice of a fan or moving to another room, which I had no problem with. I thought that I would have been moved to a comparable room, or even a nicer room due to the inconvenience, but was moved to a room with a broken toilet. I had to call the front desk again because the water in the toilet would not stop running. He came up and fixed it, but it happened again after the next use. At 1am I did not feel like calling the front desk again to have it repaired, nor did I feel like switching rooms. So we listened to the running toilet all night. As a light sleeper, this did not make for a restful night’s sleep. The picture that I’m attaching is from the morning’s breakfast. The bacon was so burnt it was inedible. The hotel itself is beautiful, and I’m sure that if only one of the incidents above had happened I would not have given it a second thought, but the series of events made me very disappointed in my stay. I did try and share my experiences with the General Manager before posting this review but after several back and forth emails I gave up. 3. September 2014
Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Great location, food, accommodations I stayed for 3 nights / 4 days and the whole experience went smoothly. Due to flight delays, I checked in quite late, and the front desk staff was as friendly and competent as if it weren't 1 a.m. The 24-hour room service was fantastic as I arrived quite hungry. LOL I ate in both restaurants (Clear, Kil@wat) and both times the food was excellent and the service friendly and skilled. The outdoor music pavilion across the street had live music one of the evenings, which I very much enjoyed hearing, but it did end by 9pm so for those who don't want to hear the summer festivities, don't let that stop you from staying here. I enjoyed walking through the in-hotel art gallery. Access to the river walk is just at the end of the block, there are theaters all around, and the walk to the lake and Juneau park and the museum of art is nice too -- about a mile if I remember correctly. Taxis queue up right at the hotel , which was handy for getting to and from my client's offices, and I used a shuttle service between hotel and airport, so I didn't need to rent (or park) a car. 2. Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Calming Stay We enjoyed a most comfortable stay here. From check-in to dining to check-out the experience was most pleasing. Staff are all very courteous and accommodating and the room was very comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable and made it hard to not stay in bed. 2. September 2014
Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by All the amenities needed! This hotel stood up to my demand of a clean bathroom. It had lots of food options and accommodations with my crazy food restrictions. Lastly, it had a robe and shower gel, which might seem silly, but something I'm very picky about. 1. September 2014
