Expression
Greeks express themselves with hand gestures when they are talking and generally speak in a high tone of voice. Most Greeks speak a foreign language, usually English.
DINNER
In order to enjoy the full atmosphere of a restaurant, we suggest that the earliest you dine is 9.30pm.
Taxis
Taxi ranks are available in most central squares; however, you can flag down a taxi on the street and perhaps even share one with another passenger. Be sure that the meter is running when entering the taxi.
Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory, but is a gesture of satisfaction with services rendered. On average, 10 per cent on a restaurant or bar bill is offered.

Athens Metro
During the construction of the Metro, many ancient artefacts were discovered which are now on display in some stations. Syntagma Station has the most impressive collection of all.
Dionysos Theatre
This was the first theatre constructed of stone in Greece, built at the end of the 5th century BC. All the famous ancient writers had their plays performed in this theatre.
Panathinaiko Stadium
The Panathinaiko Stadium is the only stadium in the world built of pure white marble and is the official finish line of the classical marathon race.

The Athenaeum InterContinental Athens features an extensive collection of contemporary painting, sculpture and photography by Greek artists.
WHAT TO PACK
Non-slip walking shoes
Most of the ancient sites are accessed by marble steps. For your safety, be sure to wear non-slip walking shoes.
Sun protection
Be sure to pack sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, which are necessary all year round.
Swimming
From April to October, the weather in Greece is very good and suitable for swimming. You will find a clean and sandy beach not only on the islands but near the city. So pack a swimsuit.
