Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious rooms, comfortable and clean I was very impressed with the size of the room and cleanliness and comfort of it all. The bed was soft but not worn-out soft, the bathroom also large and attractively designed, and enough space for my clothes and other items. The curtains were black-out curtains and the windows kept the noise out. The staff was friendly and overall the hotel gave an impression of style and class. Definitely recommend it. 29 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff rooms are a bit small. Our friend had a much larger room with sitting area. That is more of the size room I was expecting. I did not experience any of the AC noise I had heard others talk of. Overall a really nice property with great friendly staff. Wish I would have had more time to try the restaurant. 22 July 2014

It was her first trip to Austin and wanted her experience to be memorable. Staff took great care of us, the room was well prepared and a good size. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible to meeting our needs. Especially the concierge ladies to which we owe our thanks to for all of the information they provided us with for the holiday schedule of events. 16 July 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Wedding Experience I regret to inform that we did not have the most pleasant experience at the Stephen F. Austin for our wedding weekend. Upon check in, I was troubled that they did not have our room ready. (Note: my soon-to-be-bride and I attempted to check in around 10 pm after a long, full day of last minute wedding day prep, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.) We arrived at the front desk only to be given a quizzical look -- as though they were not expecting us (despite having a room block for our guests within the hotel). After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were given keys to our room. When we were up to "our room" we found that the room was already occupied. We went back downstairs and explained that to the gentlemen at the front desk and waited another 10 minutes before being given another room . . . mind you this was after we were asked to show proof of our reservation and ID. Not how we envisioned our stay to begin, but we were inclined to chalk it up to pre-wedding exhaustion/nerves. The next evening, my now-bride and I went up to our room after our wedding reception but before meeting up with some friends and families for a night cap in the hotel bar (after midnight) -- only to find that the champagne that was supposed to be in our room was not there yet. (Turns out that the champagne was mistakenly delivered to my sister's room before she informed the front desk to retrieve and deliver to our room). Also, I noticed that the room had not been adequately cleaned. The pre-wedding bridal snacks were left on the kitchen counter with half eaten crackers, cheeses, and half-filled glasses of coffee strewn about the living room. Another disappointment came from learning that several friends and family members were apparently told that the bar was closed -- however, that was not the case. While some friends were able to find their way to the back patio of the bar, we lost several friends due to the confusion. We had great expectations from the Stephen F. Austin -- the customer service leading up to the big day was impeccable -- but were sadly disappointed. Hope that this was an isolated incident and that these same mistakes are not made again in the future. 14 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel, Great Location The hotel and room were clean and very well appointed, the staff was knowledgeable and attentive to all our needs, and the location was great, we were visiting Austin to tour the UT campus which was only about a 5 minute drive away. Its also within walking distance of the Texas Capitol which was great since we didn't have to rent a taxi or take our truck out of the parking garage. Overall, I highly recommend this property and I'll definitely be staying again any time I return to Austin. 13 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by What a great time we had! Me and the wife spent only two nights. But it was great! The staff always had a smile, as if they loved what they did. They never seemed off put by our questions. The pool and fitness area was more impressive then i imagined. Having the second floor bar/lounge with a balcony overlooking the main street was very cool. The attached resteraunt "Roaring Fork" was impressive and the steaks were one of the best I've had. The breakfast area was perfect and the staff there was awesome. The room was nice and spacious. Bathroom was really big. Bed was super comfortable. The doorman and valet attendants were full of energy and ready to help, a great way to start our stay. Overall, just a great experience. I've stayed at some very nice high end places. This one just seemed to have what we were looking for and delivered on every level for us. Thanks again to everyone who made our stay a great one! 13 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, high price. The room was nice and bed comfy. The room did not cool like we would have preferred so slept with only a thin sheet all night. It is a very busy part of town at night, so things were a bit loud until around 3a.m. The price was very high for what you get, but the location is great. 08 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel bar! Stayed here for a wedding at the end of June and luckily had a bit of a discount (but there's not tons of cheaper places to stay in downtown Austin it seems#. Aside from the price, everything was great about our stay. Highly recommend the Kind Deluxe room or Suites... I did not see a standard room but I heard from others at the wedding that these can be quite small, but then again, not sure how much time you really spend in a hotel room. This hotel was perfectly located and a cheap cap or pedi-cab ride from many great spots. The bar was especially nice and especially if you find a nice spot to sit out on the balcony #also a bit pricey but still good). -MMR 02 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff willing to make things right When we first arrived we noticed there was one hand towel and no wash clothes. Also there was only one pod of coffee for in the morning. I noted this on the Survey when logging in on the internet and got a very quick response from the Staff. They took care of the problem and I was very thankful for their willingness to resolve the issue. 02 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The Best We stayed at the Stephen F. Austin for the first time for a wedding. We haven'ts stayed at ALL of the top hotels in Austin, but almost all of them. We'd recommend the Stephen F Austin as the best of all the ones we've stayed. Great rooms, very nice sized, with nice bathrooms, and a nice work out room. Food was excellent at the Roaring Forks and the breakfast room. 02 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great service From the valets to the bellhops to the housekeepers, this hotel really gives top-notch service with a smile. Everyone was super friendly & accommodating. My room was on the small side & is supposed to fit two people, but you'd be stepping all over each other. The furnishings were quite nice, but not much space for luggage. The bar is fantastic, & the food good. There was an odd, unpleasant smell on my hallway, like maybe new carpet or paint or something has been put on, but the room was fine. 27 June 2014

Lots to do in downtown Austin, including viewing the famous bat bridge and riding on horse drawn carriages.The Roaring Fork is downstairs and offers a great menu and ambience. 26 June 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great Hotel Excellent location A little bit noisy on week-ends, we had a street side room. Nice historic building in the middle of the action in Austin. Steps from the Capitol, 6th street, excellent restaurants and next door to the Paramount Theater. Very nice comfortable room with excellent amenities. Valet service is great and prompt. Would make bottled water available free to all guests or ambassador members. Thank you, specially to the cleaning staff for maintaining our room sparkly clean and refilling all supplies without us having to ask. God bless 26 June 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay When in Austin This hotel is in downtown Austin and within walking distance to the state Capitol as well as other Austin attractions. The hotel staff are amazing and the rooms are small but beautiful. My favorite part of staying at the SFA is sitting on the outside balcony of the second floor lounge and enjoying a cool drink while watching the activity on Congress Avenue. I highly recommend this hotel if it is in your budget. 23 June 2014

We ordered room service and had dinner and drinks on the Terrace...food was amazing and staff delivered excellent customer service.
