I had a pretty nice stay in Austin last week. I was pleased overall with the staff and room. Although I didn't get a chance to really explore the hotel much given that I was busy at a conference at the convention center. I also want to point out however that as I was leaving the hotel for the airport, I noticed that the people who greet guests at the curb outside were just standing around talking with each other and didn't assist me loading my luggage into the cab. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would most likely stay at this location the next time I visit Austin.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Emirates Great valet, Club and Bar staff, very welcoming! But check the rooms first
I wish I could say that my experience at this property was the greatest, but it wasn't. Upon check-in we were placed in a miniature room, you could barely move, totally different than the description when the reservation was made. Mini bathroom too, on the 15th floor, but tiny!! On top of that, there was holes in the bed spread :( I went back down immediatly to the lobby and asked to be moved, they informed that the hotel was booked at capacity and couldnt do that. Once we return from lunch,we tried to turn the TV, it was not working properly, so I called maintenance, the Technician named Ford, was awesome, he so my distress about being in that tiny room, holes on the bed spread and the TV not working and we were moved after unpacking; he even helped us to move our stuff, thanks to him my stay was better. The other room had more space and bathroom was bigger too, closer to the one on my original reservation.
We spent two nights and I highly reccomend the staff, especially the Club, bar and valet, everyone was courteous and helpful, at registration not so much!! But we spend New Year's there. My sugestion check what type of room are you getting into, I didn't have my print-out with me with all the info from my reservation, so I couldn't argue that it was very different to what I needed and booked. And those are the type of events that doesnt make a stay memorable, it's unfortunate. The hotel is walking distance to lots of places which makes it nice.

Beautiful historic hotel that needs to complete upgrades. Lobby & room were lovely & comfortable altho no turndown service so watch your towels. Spa areas old, no one monitoring, dixie cups of water for working out (need bottled water). Lobby Club room is total joke-skip it. Rock hard scones & grocery store cookies were "afternoon tea." This service should be deleted until they replace it with something worthy of the quality of the hotel. Poor reflection on hotel. Breakfast "buffet" not edible.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LH71 Why I'm not coming back to InterContinental in Austin
I've stayed at the Intercontinental in downtown Austin around a dozen times this past year. These stays have primarily been oriented around business trips. I love the property, the location, the 2nd story veranda and bar...its been a great hotel. But this last New Years I booked your property and brought my wife. We arrived at 8 PM and were told our reserved room (a King Deluxe - the room I always reserve) was "not ready". Again, this is 8 PM in the evening. Begrudgingly we were put into a "queen deluxe". The queen deluxe was in fact smaller (the manager disputes this), overlooked the roof utilities with no other view, and had only a small shower stall rather than a bath such that my wife couldn't take a warm soak for New Years day. At checkout, the front desk attendent expected us to pay for a King deluxe as if the Intercontinental had in fact delivered on providing such accomodations. I am so severely upset with this visit that I, sadly, will no longer return to the Intercontinental in Austin.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sergie Very disappointing accommodations. Not a luxury property.
Carpet was worn and dirty. Curtains shabby. Bed uncomfortable. Odor in room. Upholstery on couch was worn. Elevators old, small and slow. TV in a cabinet that did not open enough for person on one side of bed to view it. Old TV, not plasma. Very disappointed in accommodations. Do not consider this a luxury property. The room should have been renovated years ago.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by kelk lousy room selection
The staff was wonderful and the room was nice except for our view of the electrical systems on the 3rd floor. I realized I used my points for the room, but I stay at so many Priority Club hotels, that I kind of expected a little better view then the AC systems (?)

As an Ambassador, we loved all the little "extras" that this property offers. The upstairs patio was a great place to people watch & enjoy an afternoon beverage.

We recently stayed at the Intercontinental for a girls weekend/birthday bash. The staff was exceptional! Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable but could use a face lift. Will I consider staying there again the next time I'm in Austin? Most definitely!

Just wasn't impressed. Bed was nice. Room was tiny. No WIFI and who uses Ethernet these days? I've seen better TV options at a discount hotel in a small town. Staff was very helpful. Location was very convenient. Just not much bang for the buck.

For the price, it was just mehh (and consider I was on my employers already discounted rate).
The room was pretty small (no big deal)
The ceiling in the bathroom had major water damage (ok, if you never look up like I did)
Parking was $28 per day!
Not that I was watching much TV, but the TV was an old 1990's tube model.
Overall nowhere near worth what you pay. Disappointing!

One of my favorite IC Hotels, the SFA lives up to its landmark status, and its customer service is tops. You can't get more in the heart of it than this, right around the corner from the Paramount, walking distance to most places, and the Roaring Fork and upstairs bar/lounge are worthy destinations in themselves. Great liquor selection, too! NICE upgrades to the Club Lounge - Sophisticated look and convenient buffet for both the expedient and leisurely traveler.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Angie55 Noise Level
We originally were in a room on the 4th floor. The room was nice but the noise from the street was unbearable. Also the couch in the room looked so dirty we were afraid to even sit on it. You could not see the television from the bed so we had to move the entire cabinet. We requested to be moved to a room
higher but one was not available so they put us in a inside room. I did not realize until several hours later that there was no bathtub in the room they moved us to. They were able to move us the next day to a higher floor. Kenneth at the front desk was great and all the people at the hotel were very friendly. The hotel needs to be renovated with new furniture and TV.

We stayed here for a wedding and the staff went out of their way to accomodate us. They were very helpful with local restaurant suggestions, calling cabs, etc. Room service was wonderful. Breakfast at their restaurant could have been better.
Overall, we would recommend this beautiful, historic hotel.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bromo Beware of rooms on elevator side
With a business trip on top of a recent injury, I needed a good night's sleep, and specifically requested a room away from the elevator. I was instead given a room just beyond the room nearest the elevator—seemingly acceptable, but when I turned in at 11pm, I heard every stop and start of the thing going up and down through the night.
A call to the front desk elicited "we're full up" and an offer of earplugs. That set me Twitterring to #IHGCARE and #PRIORITYCLUB to get the help the Front Desk was unable to provide. Sure enough, before I woke up, these Twitter handles had worked their magic, and by end of day I had a new room.
This one was five or so rooms away from the elevator, but I still faintly heard it (through the vents?) I appreciate that IHG tried to do right by me, even sending a 15% discount to the bar, but the hotel needs renovation, and not just cosmetic. I've stayed in rooms across the hall from the elevators, and those were silent, but the very fact that guests are knowingly being assigned to rooms the hotel staff already knows are problematic blemishes this property for me.

Fine hotel with courteous and helpful staff. Rooms spacious and clean with clean, comfortable beds. Located in center of town so very convenient. Only drawback was Roaring Fork restaurant cost and slow service.
