It was her first trip to Austin and wanted her experience to be memorable. Staff took great care of us, the room was well prepared and a good size. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be as helpful as possible to meeting our needs. Especially the concierge ladies to which we owe our thanks to for all of the information they provided us with for the holiday schedule of events. 16 July 2014
    Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Wedding Experience I regret to inform that we did not have the most pleasant experience at the Stephen F. Austin for our wedding weekend. Upon check in, I was troubled that they did not have our room ready. (Note: my soon-to-be-bride and I attempted to check in around 10 pm after a long, full day of last minute wedding day prep, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.) We arrived at the front desk only to be given a quizzical look -- as though they were not expecting us (despite having a room block for our guests within the hotel). After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were given keys to our room. When we were up to "our room" we found that the room was already occupied. We went back downstairs and explained that to the gentlemen at the front desk and waited another 10 minutes before being given another room . . . mind you this was after we were asked to show proof of our reservation and ID. Not how we envisioned our stay to begin, but we were inclined to chalk it up to pre-wedding exhaustion/nerves. The next evening, my now-bride and I went up to our room after our wedding reception but before meeting up with some friends and families for a night cap in the hotel bar (after midnight) -- only to find that the champagne that was supposed to be in our room was not there yet. (Turns out that the champagne was mistakenly delivered to my sister's room before she informed the front desk to retrieve and deliver to our room). Also, I noticed that the room had not been adequately cleaned. The pre-wedding bridal snacks were left on the kitchen counter with half eaten crackers, cheeses, and half-filled glasses of coffee strewn about the living room. Another disappointment came from learning that several friends and family members were apparently told that the bar was closed -- however, that was not the case. While some friends were able to find their way to the back patio of the bar, we lost several friends due to the confusion. We had great expectations from the Stephen F. Austin -- the customer service leading up to the big day was impeccable -- but were sadly disappointed. Hope that this was an isolated incident and that these same mistakes are not made again in the future. 14 July 2014
