After staying at other similarly priced hotels in other countries, we thought we'd died and gone to heaven when we arrived here. Every staff member was tops - knowledgeable and went out of their way to help. Our room was comfortable with a fantastic view of Buda. The air condition was not working properly in one of our rooms, but 5 minutes after making a call to maintenance, it was fixed and no one even had to come to our room. The breakfast buffet was astounding. There's something to suit everyone's needs. The staff at this hotel clearly understands the value of good service. I would definitely stay here if ever in Budapest again. I was so pleased that I would search out other Intercontinental hotels in other cities.

The InterContinental which has the most amazing view over the Danube is a magnificent place to stay especially if you are staying a few days. Everything is designed for your ease, comfort and enjoyment.
Budapest is a fabulous place to see and the InterContinental certainly does not disappoint

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jeff45 Bed too soft. Needs replacing
5 star hotels have a jug in the room so tea may be made.
5 star hotels allow cases to be opened sideways as they are presently designed to do.
The bathroom light is poorly positioned for shaving. Ask you interior designer to shave there and avoid the shadow. Particular bad for shot sighted persons who are tall.
The side mirror is too low.
The Club facilities were good and Agnes was most helpful when my wife had need Of help.
There was confusion from the website I visited to choose the hotel.
It was not clear that not all Club rooms saw the river and that those that did were more expensive.

Very close to the Danube River with spectacular views. Hotel was build in the 60s or 70s and has that vintage charm. It is not a new property.
Room rate was a bargain, but staff tried to "up-sell" me upon check in, doubling the room rate to allow lounge access. I declined.
There are quite a few restaurants nearby, and a stop for the tourist hop-on hop-off bus is very close. Location couldn't be better and I would highly recommend this hotel. Being a platinum ambassador probably helped getting me a great room, but it seems there is not a bad view room in the hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VeghS Can't beat the view!
This is my new favorite hotel in Budapest. It cannot be more centrally located, having the famous Váci Street, Chain Bridge, and Bazilika all a short walk away. And nothing beats the view from your room overlooking the Danube and the Castle area on the other side. If you upgrade to the Deluxe room, your view will be angled so you also get the Chain Bridge in the same frame. Simply fabulous. The service is very good - they recognized me from the second stay on. While I usually do not eat big breakfasts, this is where I take an exception as their breakfast buffet deserves a try.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TravelNurse Outstanding staff
This hotel is located on the Danube River. The views from our river facing room were wonderful. Being able to watch the constant traffic on the river was very interesting; sightseeing boats, large barges, small personal craft, and cruise ships all made for wonderful photos. Our king room on the ninth floor gave us a great vantage point to see the Buda Castle across the river along with a few of the bridges. No outside noise could be heard even though a tram line stops directly beside the hotel. Breakfast choices were many and all we sampled were good. The hotel is located at the #2 tram line which connects with numerous other transport options that will get you almost anywhere you need to travel. Walking street with shops, restaurants, and street food located nearby and easily located. Great stay and already looking forward to returning. We were pleased with the level of service received, all staff we encountered greeted us with a smile and a hello. The staff in the club lounge exceeded our expectations; we had several questions during our stay and the club floor officer was able to answer each one quickly and correctly.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. From the time that we checked in and until we checked out everything was absolutely perfect.
We received an upgrade to the room facing the river. The breakfast was excellent, the stuff in the restaurant was very pleasant .
We checked out very early and were not able to have breakfast. 2 packages for me and my wife were waiting for us.
Great experience and strongly recommend .

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Perfect... As always
I like the checking in and out experience: it is quick, everything is prepared, just one signature and done! The other thing is that any doubt is immidiately solved in my favour meaning my comfort first then the issue will be solved without bothering me.
One thing which different about Interconti in Budapest is the poor minibar. I do not understand why everything is Intercontinental and minibar is Ibis? Why don't you put whisky and cognac into minibar?

Arrived at your hotel. Had a reservation for an executive room on the club floor. Your club floor excellent staff advised me that the room I had reserved was not available but they were upgrading us to a corner suite which was spacious and had a fabulous view.
The club floor is beautiful has a marvellous view with excellent food and drink service.
My luggage was damaged on my way to Budapest, Gabor, one of your excellent concierge staff had it picked up and repaired in 3 hours. That would not happen in North America.
Thank you for the wonderful hotel experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Merched Basic Needs not Met
The hotel has everything of a 5-star hotel. The problem is that a few
basic items that must be working properly in the room, were not functioning as they should, or better, as it was said so.
When I first checked in, it was said that internet service was free. The fact is that the WiFi signal in the room was very week, and I could not access the internet at all. When I asked the from desk about it, they told me that yes, the signal could be weak. So why say that you provide free internet access? This is a lie.
Also, the TV would not turn on always. Perhaps the battery of the remote was weak, not sure. Regardless of that, I think that the staff should check if the basics is working properly before the guest checks in.
Other than that, the hotel is very confortable, the breakfast was outstanding.

I have been travelling the last 5 years for conferences with my work. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I have been charged with getting a very poor reason, from teh stuff 22 euros!
I will never suggest this hotel again and I will also inform the conference members what I have been through during my stay.

Our stay at the Intercontinental Budapest was everything we could ask for and more! I had made a special request of the hotel to have a car pick us up from the train station, as I had been warned about local taxi's. The driver met us right off the train with a sign, and drove us right to the hotel. The hotel setting is beautiful, right on the Danube River, and with a view of the Presidential Palace all lit up at night, it is divine! Our room had this same beautiful view, huge windows overlooking the river, with a king size bed in one area, and a separate sitting area with sofa adjacent. The manager had a welcome note he personally wrote welcoming us to his hotel, along with a platter of fresh fruit, which was a very nice gesture. Our room was very comfortable, with a really nice firm bed with duvets. We enjoyed the executive lounge (one of the nicest I have ever been to!) and a great breakfast the next morning at this hotel. If you are staying in Budapest, stay here if you want the best! I didn't want to leave!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill92040 2nd stay Excellent again
I have stayed at the InterContinental both times I have been to Budapest. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful this time just like the first time. The location is superb for public transportation with a five minute walk to the Metro or a 30 second walk to a stop for Tram route #2 and has their own cab service if you prefer not to use public transportation . Breakfast is a little expensive but well worth the cost since the buffett is huge. I would suggest you pay the extra money for a river view room as the view is one of the most amazing you will come across while traveling. There is space in the minibar fridge to chill drinks you purchase elsewhere if you are worried about minibar charges. It will be some time until I return, but I hope this hotel maintains the current guest experience until then. It is truely a superior hotel.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TrishaQ Great location but expensive and no free WIFI!
The Intercontinental is in a fabulous location and views from river rooms excellent. Not having access to free wifi was a big negative -it was the first thotel to charge in a six week holiday in Europe and the charge was prohibitive at 15 euro per day for low speed 25 for high speed! Easy access to the Internet would have greatly improved our Budapest experience. The hotel was also expensive. Breakfast was not included. Drinks at bar were expensive - spent 13600 HUF for two rounds where we later spent 18900 HUF on dinner for four and this included drinks. Access to free wifi and including breakfast would have greatly improved our experience.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by thohe room comfort could be improved
Bed is a little small for two adults. Only one mattress, only one cover. You feel every movement of your partner because of the soft mattress.
Narrow barthroom, not enough space to place your personal things.
Walk in shower instead of tub would be better.
But: clean room, nice view (riverside).
Very good stuff in club lounge and restaurant.

The Intercontinental Budapest was hosting a conference with strict security while we were there and the staff made it incredibly easy for those of us staying at the hotel but not involved in the conference. Perhaps some guests were miffed but the added security created an adventure for anyone willing to look beyond the minor inconvenience. Bravo to the Intercontinental staff and the City of Budapest.
