This was our first trip to Cancun and also our first international vacation with our four year old son so we native Californians were definitely prepared for anything when we landed in Cancun. I can honestly say that the Intercontinental was so well organized that all of that preparation that we obsessed about in advance proved to be highly unnecessary. From the moment we exited the car on arrival at the hotel we were met with employees that were always smiling and highly attentive to our needs. They truly go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home which makes for a very relaxing stay. We chose to stay on the Club level since we had the little one with us and it proved to be a great decision. The availability of a private floor every morning to have an intimate breakfast with a sweeping view of the ocean was a great fit for our casual nature and through the week we were there the staff began to know what we liked and we felt like we were right at home when they knew what we were going to order etc. The club level rooms are beautify, contemporary, and a great value when you consider everything that is included. On the subject of the location overall, the beach that this hotel sits on is bar none of the best in Cancun. The sun sweeps from right to left across the sky during the day so you are never faced with glaring sun and the view across the bay to Isla Mujeres is spectacular. Our days were spent lounging on the beach, being waited on hand and foot by a great staff, and our little one made a ton of friends while playing in the crystal clear shallow water. It's worth noting that this resort definitely caters more towards a quieter crowd than some of the other resorts and that is just great since we had the little guy with us and we were not interested in reliving our college days. From an American perspective we loved the mix of folks staying there since they are largely international and many of them had children which allowed our son a chance to meet many friends.
I would like to make a point of stating that Adolfo, the Concierge, is one of the best men for his role that this this hotel could ask for. I encountered some trouble with a rental car while there ( not related to the hotel at all) and I was having difficulty dealing with the rental agency due to a language barrier. Adolfo literally dropped everything when I asked for some quick advice and he spent almost an hour navigating phone numbers etc and speaking on my behalf to them in order to get the car straightened out. The fact that he did this even though I didn't even rent the car from the hotel was amazing. In the end I rented a car from the hotel after my airport rented car fiasco was solved. It was seamless since they store the cars onsite and they give you flat rate pricing including insurance and I realized after the fact that I should have just used them in the first place.
Overall we had a great time and the combination of a spectacular location and a great staff made for a memorable and relaxing vacation. The best way to explain just how relaxed and into the Mexican beach paradise mode that we got was the fact that by day three of our stay my wife and I genuinely forgot what day of the week it was!

I had an unforgetable experience at this hotel. Its location, friendliness and good disposition of its staff are commendable. Upper management was also very gracious, available and showed genuine willingness to accomodate our needs. I'd not hesitate to book another stay there or recommended it to my family and friends. Even to those that complain about everything.
