Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by General physical condition of the hotel I have been coming to the Carlton since 1949. The hotel is in great need of a general renovation that unfortunately would require closing for several years. It could use another restaurant of the quality and service that was available in "La Cote" years ago for evening meals. Reopen the Petit Bar. I am aware that times, taste and life styles have changed, but not in my life style. 02 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Romantic, Elegant, Simply Devine! We would like to thank Magali at reception for all her help!! She was so warm and friendly upon our arrival. We were on our honeymoon and are Virtuoso Clients,. Magali was able to upgrade us to a beautiful room with a fabulous balcony on the 6th floor with an extraordinary view overlooking the Croisette! There was a bottle of wine, fresh fruit and delicious biscuits awaiting us. We were thrilled with the accommodations as we were with the friendliness and excellent service from all the staff throughout the entire hotel, including Oliver at the Beach Club. Our honeymoon stay was at the same time as the World Cup. There was a wonderful setup at the bar to watch the games including schedules and times of the matches. That was a very nice touch! We have travelled extensively throughout the world and stayed in numerous 5 star hotels and we would highly recommend the Carlton in Cannes! We can't wait to come back!!! 30 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by short and sweet I just had 3 nights in July at the Cannes Carlton with my adult daughter. The beds were perfect and I am fussy about linens and comfort. Every member of staff I dealt with was unfailingly polite, cheerful and efficient, from front desk to restaurant to beach facilities. Staff training must be very good here. None of the stereotypical French rudeness. Breakfast overlooking the bay was a highlight. Many guests were enjoying the wines at the buffet even at that time, in the holiday mood! I would love to return. The beach restaurant is superb for lunch - tartares of beef and fish were delicious. I cannot find fault with anything and recommend the hotel without reservation. 28 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The place to stay in Cannes This hotel is the center of attention in Cannes. We could not help but notice everyone walking by the hotel had to stop and take pictures. Our room was ready when we arrived. As a Platinum Ambassador we were upgraded to a room with a small balcony and a partial view of the Mediterranean, we found our welcome fruit and water and a pleasant surprise of a cake with a Happy Anniversary message on it (in French of course). The front desk and concierge staff were always available and helpful with any request or question we had. We were there during a bit of a heat wave and are used to sleeping in a cool room. I called to ask if they had a portable fan for us and within 10 minutes someone delivered one to our room. The staff at the beach, especially Michael and Oliver, was very accommodating with chairs, towels, and changing rooms. We went to the beach three days and they remembered our names each time we came. Thierry was taking care of us the day we spent on the pier and was there for anything we needed all day long. There were plenty of great restaurants all within a short walk of the hotel. We hope to have the opportunity to go back to Cannes and would not think of staying anywhere else. 27 July 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing stay • Whilst checking in, the trainee receptionist took my Ambassador card and then proceeded to answer the phone without even saying “excuse me”. I expect the reception staff to pay attention to the customer they are serving. This was my first impression of the hotel and it didn’t set things off to a good start. • When I arrived at the room I found that the welcome screen on the television said “Mr and Mrs”. The reservation was only ever under my name and the receptionist had written down my partners name when we checked in so it should be obvious that he is not a Mrs. This mistake happened again, even though I asked it to be changed. • My card had been fully charged instead of pre-authorised. Reception manager was very helpful and apologetic, however perhaps the mistake wouldn’t have happened if the receptionist had been paying attention. • For an Intercontinental, my ‘superior’ room was quite small. The bathroom was badly lit and cramped. The shower leaked above the bath. The TV was small and whilst watching a movie the picture was often fuzzy and subtitles were hard to read. • I called to reserve sun loungers on the pier only to find that hotel guests did not have priority and that I wouldn’t get a reservation until the end of August! • On Saturday night we had a drink in the hotel bar, it was about 10pm and we were the only guests. The bar staff were not attentive and even changed the TV channel to suit themselves despite the fact that we were watching the television. • On Sunday morning at 1am someone (presumably, a guest) was playing the piano in the lobby at the bottom of the staircase. When I called to complain, I was initially told there wasn’t even a piano in the hotel. I didn't sleep well, there was too much noise outstide the room. • I expected the south of France to be expensive but I think this hotel takes it to another level because it knows it can get away with it. Cocktails were 24 euros each, about £20. • There were a couple of positives. I would like to recognise Ludovic who served us when we had drinks on the terrace. He was very friendly, made us feel welcome and seemed genuinely interested. Also, Delphine, at reception who seemed genuinely sorry to hear about our experience when we checked out and gave us a book about the history of the hotel to apologise. 25 July 2014

This vacation surpassed all my expectations, the history and warm feeling of the beautiful Carton Canne was matched by the superb caring and knowledgeable people that create a welcoming atmosphere. I was traveling alone,yet i was never lonely. I felt safe and cared for. My room was classic to the beautiful style and feeling of this property that is steeped in history. My housekeeper Dominica was terrific, I also want to Thank Raphael along with the whole team that made sure being an "Ambassador" is special Everyone in the Terrace restaurant was professional yet caring . The cuisine delicious I enjoyed six fabulous days Many Thanks, I will return often 24 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Extraordinary hotel at wonderful location A stay at Intercontintal Carlton in Cannes is a wonderful occasion. We are there two to three times a year and are enjoying ourselves every time. We start with a quick walk on the Croisette and then head "home" to a great breakfast. Then we start our day either working or with some excursion. Hotel staff are so well trained and nice and we love to enjoy a glass of champagne on the patio after dinner watching all the people, 22 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff and service Stayed for third time in Carlton Cannes and again we were very satisfied with our stay. The main strength of this hotel is its staff which overall provides a very high and satisfactory level of service due to a generally very kind, helpful, efficient and competent staff and not the least due to well trained and sufficient staff resources. This comes with a price as especially as some of the food and drink prices are at the high end. The hotel is in need of some renovation and updating in some areas. Therefore we are looking very much forward to experience the result of the implementation of the planned work in these areas in the near future. 22 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall a very good stay Overall a very good stay but quite a small room considering the price (I'm used to bigger rooms for the same amount# and when I asked a man at the Concierge desk how much it would cost to have a beach towel laundried at the hotel he suggested I go to a laundrette around the corner and when I asked if they could do it at the hotel he said I had the prices in my room. I think it's a shame he suggested I go to a laundrette when they have the service at the hotel and I seriously doubt he would have said the same thing to a man in a suit #I was a woman in a dress#... Very sad to see, especially since they did wash the towel in the end. I think that all the information the guests have access to in the hotel room should also be available at the Concierge, so he should easily have been able to tell me #or at least find it out for me as there was no price for towel on the list I was referred to#. I was quite insulted by this, especially as I felt this was a comment he would never have said to a man. At least this is how I felt. And people who stay at the Carlton and are there on holiday #obviously, since I had just bought a beach towel!# don't want to wait around a laundrette when they offer the same service at the hotel! Apart from this unfortunate incident I had a very good stay and the last night I had a really nice and surprisingly casual #in a good way) dinner on the terrace, with excellent, welcoming and helpful waiters. The atmosphere among the guests weren't stiff or formal at all but very relaxed, which I liked. A big plus! 11 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A great stay! After 30 years of frequent visits to the Carlton, it only gets better. The staff, the facilities, the meals and the ambiance are perfect by any standards. Our most recent visit (late June) once again demonstrates hospitality brought to an art form. From the moment we were greeted on arrival until the last goodbye, everyone at the Carlton seems intent on perfecting perfection. Leider aber nicht die Qualität des Hotels. Wir werden wahrscheinlich aus diesen Gründen ab nächstes Jahr eine andere Location suchen. 09 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel The Carlton was everything I expected and more, love the whole feel of the place , you are made to feel special from the moment you check in , got the upgrade we had been promised and had a good sea view , breakfast was all ways great with a huge choice of foods, and of course the champagne if you wanted it , all staff were fantastic, only one small gripe , came back to hotel on the Friday night at midnight, terrace still had people enjoying drinks etc , ordered 4 large gin and tonics , had to go to staff as no one came to ask us for our order! waited 20 minutes still no drinks, the staff on duty that night Friday 27th were not busy just standing around a group of guests who they just kept filling there glasses etc whenever they drank from them , these people were obviously good tippers , we left after 30 minutes with no drinks forthcoming and no acknowledgement from any of the staff on duty that night,! the only bad side of a wonderful stay at an iconic hotel that lives up to everything you would and I expected, you can feel the history, and we will definitely be back. 03 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff We have stayed at the Carlton for over 30 years and this was probably our best trip ever. The minute we arrived at reception we got a wonderful welcome and this continued throughout our visit. The concierge was so helpful choosing restaurants before and during our stay. Of course, Roberto is still an amazing maitre de of the beach restaurant along with his staff. Although you were very busy the service on the bar was good (something that in the past we were not sure about). Although sometimes it was difficult to find a seat on the bar. We loved the gin and tonics, they were rather expensive. Breakfast is good – maybe could be improved a little. Our room was adequate, I think some updating is due. I must thank you for a wonderful time, the Carlton and Cannes can’t be beaten and we both look forward to our next holiday in Cannes. 19 June 2014
