17 December 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Could have been awesome After making reservations for a single king bed room I was given a queen size. It was ok so I didn't complain. The front desk gave me a nice welcome card referencing a gift but there was none. I asked the desk about it and a bottle of water and fresh fruit was brought to the room. The sink didn't drain very well so I had to ask for service. It was completed in a timely manor but its hard to believe house keeping didn't notice and report it for repair. The batteries in the TV remote had to be replaced. Since the bill was not delivered to the room by checkout I had to wait in a lengthy line just to be told it was taken care of with no additional charges. The door man needs to pay attention to who is waiting for cabs instead of hailing them and giving to whoever is closest to him. overall not one of the best stays I have had 17 December 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad experience We reserved a king deluxe room in the historic tower. The room was large but empty and had a terrible view. We would expect a piece of furniture that included proper sized drawers to put our clothes in. We were told that they could bring up a luggage rack, very tacky. We moved to the newer remodeled tower where the room was extremely small. We could barely reach across an end table to open and close the blinds/curtains. I called and asked where the switch was to turn on lights on the ceiling above a couch and was told that the banquet manager or maintenance would have to turn them on for us. Really?? We asked where the ice machine was and was told that it was on the 7th floor and that was the only floor with an ice machine for the entire tower. Unbelievable. Due to the slow, overcrowded elevators, I walked down 12 flights of stairs to get a bucket of ice. Unacceptable when you're staying at a hotel with the reputation that the intercontinental has. Almost every time I called, the person I was talking to did not ask, can I help you with anything else or have a nice day, nothing, basically hung up without so much as a goodbye. I will say that Martin who brought our coffee both mornings was the best, very pleasant! There are many hotels to stay at along Michigan Ave, this is NOT one that we would ever stay in again. 15 December 2014
15 December 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lots of problems with room You can't beat the location, and the room would have been fine if the following issues didn't occur in concert: - Loud clicking from the HVAC unit that kept me up (even with ear plugs) - Coffee maker didn't work - Tub plugged (nothing like showering while standing in inches of water) 15 December 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by christmas present trip this trip was our family christmas gift, and it was lovely. the staff was fantastic, and took excellent care of me and my son (and extra shout out to jerrell, shayla, and lachauna!). the concierge (all of them!) are super knowledgeable and kind, and an essential part of the intercontinental experience! we had such a lovely time. special note: the hotel itself was, in the 30's, my grandfathers athletic club, so, it was really rather lovely to be where he once was. i swam in the pool and thought of him, an ace swimmer, racing johnny weismuller in a friendly game (btw, he won!). on one of the mornings, while i was wandering around taking photographs, i was lucky enough to meet one of the great engineers for the hotel and he took me around to see little details that i might have missed otherwise (see the photo below, which is the reflection of the hotel in the building just behind)! we also took the audio tour, which was fantastic. overall, we both loved our time there, and will be back. thank you, intercontinental, for making me and my son both very happy. what a great experience. :) 14 December 2014
