Even though your check in wasn't until 3 pm we were able to get into our room sooner. I know that isn't always possible but it sure was nice that your staff went that extra so we could rest before the wedding. Thank you again. 02 August 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All the amenities for a comfortable stay We were in Chicago for an elegant wedding which was at the hotel. We arrived the night before at 11:30pm and promptly ordered room service. It was delicious and served quickly. The next day we took the nearby boat tour which was walking distance away.A must see for tourists like us The wedding was breathtaking and the Grand Ballroom the perfect venue. The food was outstanding and the servers were very attentive. It was a pleasure to have stayed on your hotel and we will not only recommend it but we will return as well. 30 July 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Inadequate in the most important aspects. The room was so small that two people couldn't get by between the bed and the desk. The air conditioner fan was annoyingly loud and did not shut off, even though we set the thermostat on auto. Hardly any drawer space for two people and the left closet door would not stay open due to its proximity to the room door. The first morning we ordered breakfast from room service. $70.00 for breakfast for two...are you serious ???!!! It was Starbucks after that debacle. All in all, we felt that the entire hotel experience was poor, and not worth the money. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone, nor would we ever consider staying there again. 30 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room was subpar for IHG member Wedding party for numerous rooms, room we had was clean but smaller than other guests rooms who were not IHG members. Valet was charged to my room took about 20 minutes to have it corrected. Clerk thought I was lying. I was pleased with location but would look elsewhere if I come back to Chicago. 29 July 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Strategic Location Right along the heart of Michigan Avenue no doubt! Come down, and whichever direction you choose, you wont go wrong. The property though needs some renovation (e.g. carpet, hallways, doors etc. But despite these, rooms and toilets very clean. Great and attentive staff. Upon finding out that I am an IHG member, I was immediately offered all benefits without me asking like late check-out, free internet, welcome drink etc. Helpful concierge and bell boys. 28 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A first impression makes the experience! They say a first impression makes the experience. Well that's a fact at this hotel. We were greeted so warmly and enthusiastically by Willy, the bellman. Throughout our stay, it felt like we were meeting an old friend. He gave us directions, recommended restaurants and showed a genuine concern for making our stay enjoyable. It's a great hotel and location, but the best part is people like Willy. His charm and character would have covered for any issues we may have had. I used to stay across the street, but not any more! 28 July 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ignorant Staff I verified with the night desk attendant that the breakfast was included. He said yes. I asked if I needed a voucher. No is what he stated. I verified location and time. In the am, we went to eat only to be present a bill for nearly half the cost of a room for my coffee and some things my kids ate. The only remedy that was offered was no charge for the kids. My wife and I had a breakfast we won't forget. Never again!!!!!! IHG will loose me. 28 July 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by slightly disappointed the room was 400+ a night, very tiny. toilet handle was broken, and the mirrors and counter in the bathroom are very high. would pick a different place next time arrived at 4 PM and room wasn't ready. they said they would text me when it was ready and never did 26 July 2014

One change I would like to see - there was an extremely long line at check-in. I saw this was the case at varying times throughout my stay. 24 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel A hotel in a fantastic location - on the Magnificent Mile and a short walk from Lake Michigan. The hotel staff were very accommodating. My girlfriend and I rang ahead and asked if our room would be ready at our anticipated arrival time of midday (normal check-in is at 3pm). Arrived at 11.30pm and were delighted to hear that our room was ready. Would definitely recommend! 24 July 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by You Can Text the Hotel Staff! I have never experienced a hotel with better staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I did have an issue with security ignoring my pleas (three of them) to stop the room next to me from smoking, but the manager did move me to another room right away. But the best part was the ability to text for room service, my car and bellmen. I had never seen this before at a hotel, but it really came in handy. The hotel texted me that my room was attached from my phone number and that I could text them for service/help. I texted for my car on two different occasions and got an immediate response both times. I texted for a bellman and he was there within 5 minutes. I was very impressed. Stay at this hotel and sign up for the IHG rewards (you get a treat when you check in). You won't be disappointed. 23 July 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unfriendly Staff Front desk staff was not friendly and unwilling to assist. My Room and tax was placed on Corporate CC. We faxed the CC Auth to the hotel more than 3 weeks prior to arrival. I called 4 days prior to arrival to confirm that they had received it and they confirmed that they did. However, when I went to check in at the front desk, she said they didn't have it and needed my CC to pay for room. She was unwilling to assist and call her accounting dept to see where the CC Auth may be. I called my office and had them re-fax and she called to confirm that they received it and was transferred three times before anybody would help her. When I went back to front desk to try to check in I specifically went to another clerk and this gentlemen was just as unfriendly as the first person I encountered. Concierge was also not knowledgeable of immediate area. I asked where closet Jimmy Johns was. He directly me down the street and told me to make a right at the Gap. There was no Gap store in that direction. It was a "Guess" Store. I walked 10 blocks in the wrong direction. 21 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, great hotel We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago for two nights and loved it. I couldn't imagine a nicer hotel. The hotel staff was really knowledgeable as was the concierge. As far as dining, breakfast was good but expensive, as you would expect in a five star hotel. What we didn't expect though was the wonderful bar food at Michael Jordan's restaurant. Quality food with Macdonald prices. All in all a great couple of days. 19 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Oh what a night! Recently, my now-husband and I celebrated our trifecta wedding ceremony/cocktail hour/reception at the Intercontinental Hotel Chicago. It was in a word, fantastic. What we wanted seemed fairly simple to us. Finding it...not so much. Until we found the Intercontinental. From our initial meetings to our food tastings through our actual wedding day, everything was handled with the utmost class and respect for our wants. The staff couldn't have been more accomodating. Their attention to our needs (needs that we didn't even know we had!#, was amazing. The service#s) were flawless. Chris Schmidt and his staff made everything seem effortless, which of course, it was not. While we won't be getting married again, we would HIGHLY recommnend this to anyone who wants the ease and flexibility of a one stop-shopping wedding venue without losing the personal touch the Intercontinental provides. Bonus points: the location cannot be beat! 16 July 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They need to fix their systems to have happy customers The line was amazingly long when I checked in about 11pm. They gave me two Starbucks vouchers acknowledging that this wasn't right. The room had an amazingly loud air conditioner and horrendous smell. I was just too tired to change rooms that evening, but did so the following morning. The staff were nice about changing rooms. Seems that they had heard of the smell problem before. Moved to the 20th floor with the downside of the move being the fact that every elevator ride was a lengthy one with many stops. No express elevators to the higher floors. Had a golf outing and wanted to get my car early, but nobody answered the garage desk when I called - about 5:45am. Was late to the golf outing. When I reached the garage valets, the people couldn't have been nicer, though. When my wife showed up two days later to get a key to the room - same lengthy line. Then the person in the fitness center wanted to charge me for my "free" use of the fitness center. All in all, this hotel need help. 16 July 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not much for the money I understand that you're paying for the location in a place like this, but the prices were outrageous, and everything cost extra. For example, there were charges for any items *moved* in the refrigerator, $10 for a bottle of water, a $12 fee to use the (very crowded) workout room, $30 for the continental breakfast. Also, they charged an additional $240 "hold" on my account ('for incidentals"), over and above the cost of the room, which was not released for several days following the stay. This caused me to max out my credit card, which was unexpected. Also found the staff to be polite, but not friendly, and didn't go out of their way to help. Also, the "suite" we were staying in was actually just one standard-sized hotel room, with a pull out couch that when pulled out left just enough space to *wiggle* past it to the bed. Very crowded for being a "suite," not at all what the picture looks like on the website. And the whole place smelled funny. The pool was disappointing; just an athletic-type pool like you'd see at a gym; no steps or shallow end for leisurely swimming. 16 July 2014

I walked down to the reception and said good morning ... and there was no response at all. - the air conditioning machine on top of the next door property is quite noisy. Sound proof windows would be useful. - no stock of slippers / sandals for the room. Other hotels have them normally in the room for the guests. 15 July 2014
