    Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not personalized, not impressed I won a free night's stay at the Intercontinental and I redeemed it for a romantic getaway. The Doorman was busy with another guest, so he could not open the door of the car to help us, but he offered luggage assistance when I approached the main entrance. He stored our bag and told us to let the front desk know whenever we are ready to have it brought to our room. Check-in was not personable. The young ladies were friendly and made nice small-talk. However, the one checking us in was trying to find us a room with a bathtub and separate shower (as she had described it) but she was not sure if all rooms in the Grand Tower had the request described above. She actually asked her colleague - who was the "Trainee" - who confirmed this at first, but still checked with a Manager in the back office. I found it a bit odd that an employee didn't know the rooms as well as the "Trainee". She did not use my last name once but she did give us a brief description of the hotel amenities and how to find the elevators. She also did not offer luggage assistance; I had to ask her what to do with my ticket and only then did she react. Also, she did not ask me if I was a member of your rewards program, which is an important detail not to miss during check-ins. The elevator is small and there is no security in regards to controlling who has access to the hotel room floors and amenities. Also, the carpet in the hallway looked outdated and our door had some sort of tape on it. We entered the room and shortly after, the bellman brought us our bag. He did ask if we found everything we needed in our room and gave us a brief warning about how to use the mini bar on the table, by the TV. We then took a look around us: the room looks nice and the bed was comfortable - I slept very well! However, the bathroom looked old-fashioned. The bathtub was very low and looked dirty even though it wasn't. One of the towels had an old coffee(?) stain. The shower had a lot of pressure and warmed pretty fast which was nice. Check-out was quick. Again, I was not addressed by my last name, but by a room number ("What is your room number?") - lose that habit. People aren't cows in a herd ;) The young lady was very nice though and she smiled a lot, too. No luggage assistance offered, and I must say that I have not seen the bellman ask guests in the hallway whether they need assistance or not - maybe your hotel uses a different system but I think it makes them lose tips standing by their bell desk and looking down when people walk by with their bags, as if they were on their phone. Maybe they were looking at their radio, I might be wrong of course. My boyfriend even seriously asked me: "is this a 3-star hotel?". It made me laugh but I kind of felt that way, too. He rated it this way because of the room size - but all room sizes in different hotels aren't huge and our room was a standard room which makes it understandable. I rated it this way because of the quality of service mainly, and the bathroom. Anyway, I understand that you are about to update the hotel rooms, according to the Front Desk agent. I really hope you do something about the bathrooms because some newer hotels around you have soaking tubs and an actual separate shower. As I stayed in a couple of them, I was obviously expecting to relax in a soaking tub and then take a shower that was separate, but I ended up disappointed because it was so low and didn't look attractive to me. Also, staff was not personable which did not make me feel too special as other hotels can. 25 December 2014
    Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean rooms and a great location My wife and I recently stayed there for a nice weekend and we loved it. The beds were comfortable to sleep in and the location was key because everything was close by which was nice since but wife was 8 months pregnant. I definitely recommend this place and be sure to check out The Purple Pig across the street. Melad 24 December 2014
