Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1076 reviewers.
17 December 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by bad experience We reserved a king deluxe room in the historic tower. The room was large but empty and had a terrible view. We would expect a piece of furniture that included proper sized drawers to put our clothes in. We were told that they could bring up a luggage rack, very tacky. We moved to the newer remodeled tower where the room was extremely small. We could barely reach across an end table to open and close the blinds/curtains. I called and asked where the switch was to turn on lights on the ceiling above a couch and was told that the banquet manager or maintenance would have to turn them on for us. Really?? We asked where the ice machine was and was told that it was on the 7th floor and that was the only floor with an ice machine for the entire tower. Unbelievable. Due to the slow, overcrowded elevators, I walked down 12 flights of stairs to get a bucket of ice. Unacceptable when you're staying at a hotel with the reputation that the intercontinental has. Almost every time I called, the person I was talking to did not ask, can I help you with anything else or have a nice day, nothing, basically hung up without so much as a goodbye. I will say that Martin who brought our coffee both mornings was the best, very pleasant! There are many hotels to stay at along Michigan Ave, this is NOT one that we would ever stay in again. 15 December 2014
