My husband and I had spent a holiday at the Cozumel resort ten years ago and returned with our son to celebrate Christmas and scuba dive. The experience was grossly overpriced and underwhelming. The food and drink was exorbitant and inconsistent. while the staff is charming, there is a huge sales pitch for time shares which becomes very uncomfortable. My son was specifically exclude from a public promotion of bonfire s'mores which suddnely became a private party, leaving him tears.
We travel a lot and are not high maintenance people, we simply expect value and service for our money. I will never stay with an InterContinental again.

No issues with this place. Everyone was very friendly, food was great, atmosphere was positive, and the views/beach/snorkeling were great! I slightly marked them down on 'Value', it's quite a bit more expensive than some of the other places on the island.

Return trip to Intercontinental Cozumel. Staff is very nice and helpful. Beautiful location. Booked a expensive room but not everything worked in room. NO A/C, set shower water to comfortable temp then every 30 seconds it would change to blistering hot then freezing cold. Mini bar/small fridge did not work, made the mistake of trying to keep baby milk cold. Spoiled it overnight. TV remote was broken, smashed. Thin walls, could hear a casual conversation from next door. But the worst is the el groupo presidente club sales people who try everyday to sell you a vacation club spot. I finally broke down and listened on day 3. I was told about all the great intercontinental hotels of the world and how I could use my points anywhere. Sounded great, they charged my card then gave me the paperwork to sign. Upon reading the contract it is only for use at 11 Mexican resorts not worldwide as promised and advertised by the reps on hotel property. It turned into a nightmare and this club who says its part of intercontinental hotels should be kicked off property. Come to this place and be prepared to be swindled and lied to. Oh yes check out huge spider that was crawling in my clothes in the closet. They sent a lady who was scared of spiders to help me clean them up. That's right to help me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JimandMira Best vacation before baby
We took this vacation before having our first baby. It was PERFECT. Everyone was so wonderful and sweet. The food was great in all three restaurants. My favorite part was breakfast every morning because of the buffet. For a pregnant woman, this was heaven because I ate as much as I wanted and it was all fresh and delicious.I come from the restaurant business soI knew what to look for. The whole staff watches your table so you don't have to always look for your server. One lovely woman from the staff heard me talking about how much I loved the hot chocolate so she gave me the mix to take home. She didn't have to do that but it meant so much to me. Every member of the staff, no matter where you are in the resort, will stop and say hello. Its nice to see everyone work as a team. The resort was quiet, which is exactly what we wanted and needed. Snorkeling was available at the resort or they will arrange a trip to the reef for you. We had a romantic dinner on the beach and it was so beautiful. They set up candles everywhere with a spotlight on the water. Rose petals were spread all over the table. I can't wait to put the pictures from that night into our baby album. I can't say enough about this place. We loved it. Thank you to everyone for making our vacation so amazing.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by CT2013 Deeply Disappointed
Let me preface this by saying I’m not the type of person who takes to the internet to complain frequently, but this is such an awful experience I want to alert others who might be considering this property. We stayed at the hotel during the Cozumel Ironman 2013, and it was quite busy. Almost from the beginning, things were not up to expectations. Upon arrival, the internet did not work, and we called the front desk who assured us they’d send IT to assist, they never came. No problem, we were at the hotel to relax anyway. That night, we were awoken by a persistent dripping noise, which my husband kept getting up to check on, thinking the shower was leaking. Despite multiple attempts, he couldn’t locate the source of the noise and simply closed the bathroom door. The next morning, we were awoken by the sounds of lawn mowing, which began before 9am, and we discovered that the dripping noise was coming from the TOILET in the room above us (ew!).
We headed off to inform the front desk that our room was flooded with toilet water from the room above us, and went to breakfast. At breakfast, ~9:30 am, they informed us that they had no eggs in the entire hotel, and as such the breakfast menu was mostly unavailable and the buffet consisted of fruit and bread, with some quesadillas. That’s it. I’m not kidding.
We returned from breakfast to find that our bathroom was still flooded, and no one at the front desk knew anything except that maintenance had been called, but no one knew when maintenance would arrive or how the problem would be fixed. After my husband became upset, they agreed to move us to another room, only 4 doors away. When the bellman showed up to move us, he told us we were going to a room on the other side of the hotel, and we were puzzled. It turned out, the room we were originally going to be moved to had a “maintenance issue” as well!
There were numerous other issues, including awful service at breakfast, hotel restaurants that were unaccommodating to the extreme (refused to seat us in an empty restaurant even though we were guests of the hotel because we didn’t have a reservation), and a hotel location that’s extremely far from town and anything you’ll conceivably want to do off the resort.
I’m telling you this story because I want to spare you the agony of staying in a dated hotel with the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Is it likely that your room will leak toilet water? Probably not. However, will you be inconvenienced by this absolutely abysmal customer service? Almost certainly. This is the worst service I’ve ever experienced at a hotel, regardless of how many stars it purports to have. On an island with such awesome weather and so much to do, you’re much better off spending your time and money elsewhere.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by FiveStarTraveler Stay Away for Cozumel Intercontinental
In my personal opinion, after 30 years of high end travel, this Cozumel property is of the lowest quality of a 5 star property I have srtayed in. While the setting on the beach is 5 star, the hotel is more like a run down Holiday Inn Express. Again, my personal opinion after years of International travel and at Intercontinental hotels.

I just returned from a 4 night stay with my 21 year old son. We did 6 dives in 4 days with the resident dive shop, Scubadu, and we had a blast! The hotel was great in every way, and the whole experience exceeded my expectations. We ate most of our meals at the resort, and although they were a little pricey, the meals were all very good. The resort was quiet during our stay so we had the perfect opportunity to reconnect and talk about my son's future as he nears the end of his college experience. After 4 perfect days we both agreed that we can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Presidente in early November 2013 and as first time visitors, we were certainly impressed! The hustle-bustle of Cozumel's frequent cruise visitors seemed a million miles away from the resort; at times it felt like we were at our own private vacation home with a courteous and helpful staff. The food at El Caribeno was impeccable and the drinks were by far the tastiest (and strongest!) on the island. Although the resort is pretty close to the international pier, the snorkeling was not at all inhibited by cruise-ship fuel - we saw a massive sting ray and a bounty of fish right off the resort shore. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I love love loved the outdoor shower. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

We absolutly don't regret it. It was fantastic every single moment of our vacations. And we have done snorkeling in Playa del Carmen, Isla Contoy and Cozumel's arrecifes and we saw more fish in the beach in front of the hotel than anywhere else.

Our stay at Presidente was wonderful!! The staff is truly amazing, and was always putting in a 110% for every need we had! We stayed in the Reef room, which if you can - get it. They're serious about it being the Reef room, it is right off you back deck! We ended up joining The Club and are very excited for all the perks that go along with it. Francisco answered every question we had, and addressed every concern, and also bundled us an awesome package we couldn't refuse (he is also an all around wonderful fun man with a great attitude).
At El Caribeño, Yazmin is truly a delight! She made sure everything was set to expectations and even arranged for my family to have a dinner out on their patio, we were the only ones and at while the Sun set, it was awesome. My parents also had a romantic dinner in their hut on the water, and according to them it was absolutely beautiful - they set it all up with white linens, flowers, and candles - something very special to experience.
We also did scuba diving at Scuba Du, and it was very much worth every penny, the French instructor Sandy was truly amazing - however, she was leaving during our stay back to France. However, I'm sure the other instructors are great as well!
My only down fall was that there was minimal dresser space, if you have more than two people in the room - this can get messy. Also there were a few times that robes/glasses were forgotten to be delivered, but the concierge cleared that up promptly.
P.S. USE the mosquito spray they provide you, it will save your life down there!

What a fantastic experience! The staff, our room, the food and beverages and the hotel amenities were first-rate. We were spoiled! The snorkeling next to the hotel was great, the pools were well-maintained, and the resident iguanas added ambiance to the whole experience. The service level and genuinely warm greetings and helpfulness of all employees put the Intercontinental Hotel Presidente at the top of our list - and we are well-traveled and pretty particular. Scuba Du on premises was excellent too. We met several guests who return frequently, and now we know why. Thank you for a memorable 25th anniversary!

Me, my wife and friends were delighted with our experience in this hotel, manly due to kindness of all its staff, always very attentive. We were there for scuba diving, in a group of ten people, all all of us were very satisfied with the service. I'd like also to register the world-class service of Scuba Du, the dive operator, which follows the same quality pattern of Presidente Intercontinental Hotel. The only thing I would mention as a worthless experience is the restaurant "Alfredo di Roma": incompatible prices with the quality of food served.
Thank you all for your courtesy and first class service.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ERN33 Beautiful, clean resort with excellent service
My husband and I vacationed at the Presidente Cozumel Resort from 7/7 - 7/14/2013. We were greeted with an upgrade to an ocean view room on the upper level with a balcony and a fantastic daily view of spectacular sunsets. As an IHG Platinum member, we received complimentary tequila shots and a platter of native fruits (nice touch!). The room was kept very clean during our entire visit, and the bed was heavenly. We really enjoyed the beach and pools, and the snorkeling was great, as advertised! We never left the resort during our entire trip (why compete with thousands of cruise ship tourists?). The food was excellently prepared at both the restaurant and beach bar (we knew to expect that it would be somewhat expensive). While the italian restaurant was closed for renovations, we were pleased that the menu was made available at the main restaurant, in addition to their regular menu which had enough variety for even my picky-eater husband. I also enjoyed the daily 2-for-1 happy hour! And we loved listening to the guitar entertainment by Antonio Loranca (even bought his CDs as a rememberance of this wonderful trip). Service everywhere was great! Would definitely return here!

We stayed at this property May 22-May 30. My husband and I are both Platinum Elite members. We had booked two rooms for our family on points & points/cash and were pleasantly surprised that we had received upgrades to the pool view rooms with the outside showers (those were awesome!). This is our 3rd Intercontinental hotel/resort and it is absolutely the BEST! We decided to have drinks at happy hour and eat in the restaurant EVERY night of our stay. Manuel and his wait staff were courteous and attentive! We found the food to be delicious at EVERY meal as well as a good value for the money. The housekeeping staff left both of our rooms spotless each day. The front desk staff was amazing and answered all of my questions.
My husband and I walked around the resort for a hour every day for exercise and EVERY STAFF member we passed each morning smiled and said hello/good morning. We received a large bottle of water every day in our room. The ocean views are stunning - from the beach, bars and restaurant. We never got tired of looking at it! I am rating this resort as ALL EXCELLENT because of the OCEAN VIEWS, COURTEOUS/ATTENTIVE STAFF and DELICIOUS FOOD. We have already recommended this resort to our friends and family!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rak299 luxury hotel and you must pay for water???
I got a room upgrade because they had overbooking, so pretty good feeling in that way, very nice, clean, roomy. We were staying a lot of people together because we were for a wedding. My friends didn't have same luck as I did. Several problems including: Refusing adding an extra bed in one of the rooms (asked for at booking) and charging bill to the wrong credit card.
About meals, I didn't have lunch or dinner, but about breakfast I must say: that's not a luxury hotel buffet at all (of course not included in the overnight price)
Small details as sliced-the-day-before lemon for a drink, all dry and brown, plenty of little pieces of ice, already melt the minute after serving spoiling your cocktail... It's no so important for a non luxury hotel.
The worst for me... not drinking water available (not even at breakfast if you don't order specifically) but for a single bottle gift the arrival day. Next on, 45 pesos each, I insist, in a self-called luxury hotel, for a first need product in an island in the middle of the sea.
Definitely, I wouldn't recommend this place for a stay.

Had a great time. Beautiful accommodations. BEWARE, when I returned home someone had gone into my luggage and removed my precious jewelry. Also, we used the ATM at the hotel on the 24th... It processed and processed and ended up NOT giving us our money. On the 26th our card had $1400 in fraudulent charges. These two things may not be related to staying at this hotel, but felt it was worth mentioning. Again, the accommodations were wonderful, but when we returned home to find that my jewelry was stolen and our credit card had been abused, it left us concerned with our travel to Mexico.

ITALIAN RESTURANT FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!
HOTEL IS UNDERSTAFFED.
WHAT TO KNOW WHY HOTEL IS RUNNING SO LOW ON OCCUPACITY RATE? VALUE, AND WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING AN OCCUPANCITY RATE OF 30% THE HOTEL SHOULD CONSIDER UPGRADING ALL GUEST WITHOUT, A GUEST FEELING LIKE THEY HAD TO WORK THE HOTEL FOR IT!
HOTEL SHOULD HAVE A AMBASSADOR CLUB

The hotel is very comfortable and it is a first class experience all the way, The hotel staff is very competent and very kind. The dining is superb.
I must also say that we have snorkeled up and down the west side of Cozumel from the beaches and taken trips to Palancar and Columbia reefs. The best snorkeling by far was in the swimming area at El Presidente! We saw more fish and more varieties of fish. Additionally, it is shallow enough that you can get a very personal view of the fish and the coral. Outstanding!

The Presidente Cozumel Resort is simply the best place on the Island of Cozumel to stay. We always get a reef room right on the water so that we can literally walk out of our room into the water. And the service is awesome with a friendly, efficient and helpful staff. And the food is awesome too. We will return to the Presidente again and again, as it is our favorite place on Cozumel. And the scuba diving company onsite is stellar--the best we have ever used. So, here's a big thank you to everyone at the Presidente Cozumel for making our stay so wonderful.

This is a fantastic location with superb views and facilities - ideal for a peaceful and tranquil break. My wife and I chose this period to escape from winter in Europe and "off the beaten track". It was a great decision!
We had a very relaxing week in mid-February; "recharged our batteries" and soaked up the sunshine. It was possible to walk barefoot on the many paths and on the white sandy beaches - the main swimming pool was pleasantly warm and the snorkelling excellent.
We enjoyed the in-house tennis and the spa. There was quality food and good service. The staff were very courteous. What more could you want?
Our sincere thanks to Henry and his team.
