Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful view and excellent service This is our second stay at this hotel and we will be back again next year. We love the location and ease of access to San Miguel, the attentive staff, the beauutiful views from the rooms, and being able to snorkel right off the beach. This hotel provides a nice relaxing, luxurious atmosphere that guarantees a great vacation! 04 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is where you need to stay when visiting Cozumel!!! A little lengthy review but thorough, so be prepared... We've been wanting to come to Cozumel for a vacation ever since we did a day-trip here while on our Honeymoon in Mexico. Being IHG members, we were happy to see the Intercontinental on the island, and we could NOT be any happier with this place. We have DEFINITELY found our yearly go-to place and plan to come back here for many years to come. LOCATION: The Presidente is located right on the water on the west side of the island, south of San Miguel and the Downtown area, so it's nice and quiet. It also makes for AMAZING sunsets as you have perfect views from the beach. CURB APPEAL: There is a gated entrance with friendly folks working it, and then a gorgeous, lengthy drive covered by trees and bushes to get to the hotel. The hotel roundabout is spacious and the hotel is very open and airy. It looks like a 5-star resort in every way. ***TIP: Everything you charge on the resort is done in pesos, so brush up on your rates conversion before you come, so you can make sure you're tipping properly and paying what you expect to pay! STAFF: We found everyone in the resort to be friendly, fluent in both spanish and english, accommodating, and willing to go out of their way for anything you need. ROOMS: We had a beautiful room on the 1st floor with a full patio (patio furniture), and a direct walk out to the beach. The A/C in the room worked great, no bathtub (stand alone shower instead) but no biggie for us, a very comfortable bed, amazing views from our window, and a door leading to our private patio. DINING: There are 3 main restaurants on the resort (Italian, Mexican, Steakhouse) and a few bars, with a beachside quick-service restaurant. The drinks are made perfectly, the restaurants taste like fine dining, and the service is excellent. ***DINING TIP: There is a breakfast buffet every day until 11am and it's delicious and highly worth it, especially since it includes unlimited mimosas! BEACH/POOLS: The pools are great. There is a main pool with a large hot tub, and an adults-only pool (much more secluded). The beach is the best part though. The Presidente has its own private beach for guests only. It's small, but just the right size for the resort and perfect for sitting in the water and watching the sunsets. There are huts on the beach and chairs all around. If you walk around the resort near the water, you'll find hammocks you can lay in as well. The water is crystal blue and turquoise, very calm too. It's basically paradise! There is so much more to do at this resort. They have grass tennis courts, ping pong, children's play section, a gift shop, and so much more! ***TIP: The Presidente does car rentals right near their front desk. You can rent pretty cheap there, and pick-up and return is SO easy. Also, the rentals are for 24 hours, so they let you park in their parking lot overnight for free! Yet another little perk about the hotel. The hotel also offers golf, although we didn't sign up for that this time, but definitely on our next trip! Overall, this hotel is amazing and will be our go-to going forward. We love the island of Cozumel, and the location, staff, food, amenities, and private beach just put the Presidente in the top of hotels for us! 03 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, avoid the outside restaurant for lunch and dinner Location was superb. Upgrade to a beachfront room with patio and outdoor shower was awesome. Tennis courts were in good condition. The concierge was somewhat helpful but needs to do a better job of communicating what has been reserved for guests. We had a terrible experience at the outdoor restaurant for dinner. The Italian/Steak restaurant needs to take over the outdoor restaurant. The breakfast there is good though. Staff training overall is somewhat lacking - the staff has a good heart but needs help in understanding how to handle requests and how to provide exemplary service. One problem is the nickel and dime attitude. A soda is $4, a 50 cent bottle of water is $2.50, basic snorkel gear is $14, a small latte is $5 and so on. 03 March 2015
