LOCAL CULTURE

Hoi An

Hoi An is Vietnam’s most charming and atmospheric town, an old port city that has remained remarkably well preserved for hundreds of years. A stroll through the city’s lantern-lit old town, along winding lanes, temples and Chinese shophouses is a romantic journey to the past. Hoi An (then called Lam Ap Pho) was the main trading port of the Cham Empire from the 2nd to the 14th centuries. The city rose to prominence again in the 16th century under the Nguyen Lords and became a major economic center. Chinese, Japanese and traders from Europe all played a role in the city’s development, giving it a uniquely international flavor. Today, Hoi An’s historic charm coexists with abundant shopping and chic modern restaurants, making it a top tourist destination and a culinary haven.

03 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Indescribable Honeymoon Stay! The InterContinental Danang is more breathtaking in person than any images and video of the hotel that you can see online, and believe me, the videos are beautiful! For four days, my new husband and I enjoyed the magic and romance of this Resort. We tend to always venture off of Resort property, but there was so much we wanted to do on property, that we only snuck away to Danang once for a food tour. Every breakfast at the InterContinental was just spectacular and delicious. My husband has been trying to recreate the delectable smoothies we enjoyed every morning, but he can't! La Maison 1888 is outstanding! The staff was great as well! We will never forget our four glorious days at The InterContinental Danang! 02 March 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Resort Property This is a large, beautiful resort. We stayed here for 6 days after touring Myanmar for 2 weeks. Perfect place to just relax. Pricey but well worth the experience. A little far from town, but this is a resort, a destination, not a hotel to do much touring from. 02 March 2015
