Doha - The City

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 128 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by What a major disappointment. Intercon. City You got it all wrong I will make it short and to the point. 1- It took Over 40 minutes to check-in (we were the only ones there) 2- Executive suite is not and an executive suite in any hotel standard. 3- Lounge Very Dark, only spot light on entrance + a huge lamp with a 60 watts light and a small disk light ( Darkness) 4- Very small TV in the lounge 5- Bed comfortable 6- Bathroom is a disaster • You can’t have a shower in the evening, it’s a glass hotel, the shower blinds are not full. Will in our room it was(1809). The tower in front can see you. • The glass partition between the room and the bathroom is degusting, Stained and the dark cover some part are Scratched ( included the photos) • In the morning we could not have a shower as no cold water called engineering they never showed up, had a bath instead. 7- Food was great (in the room)but room service took 5 minutes to answer the phone. 8- In the morning a round 8:15 we got waking up by a lady in our lounge doing the cleaning and singing. 9- Called concierge half an hour before Check-out to collect our luggage no one showed up, Check-out and had to wait for another 1 hour for the luggage to arrive, so from the time I originally called for the luggage to be collected to the time we received it took 1 hour and 45 minutes. I offered to go up and collected but I could not as they side I have check-out and it’s in the way. 10- Same with the car it took as long. Sorry to say it, but it’s not an intercontinental. What disappointment 10 April 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A bit disappointed I stayed at the Intercontinental Doha The City for 6 nights. I arrived with my car. My first impression about the welcome was kind of weird especially the reception when I checked in. She was very cold and I had the impression I was bothering her. I would understand if she were busy with a lot of customers but I wasn't the case. It was 11 pm and there wasn't anyone waiting. I was asking question and she couldn't even listen. The room was ok. A bit small. The bathroom was great. It was clean except a stain in the carpet. There was a construction site close to the hotel and it gets really noisy during the day. I was working outside during business hours. My wife, though, stayed in the hotel the whole day. She was bothered by the noise. We didn't find any "Do Not Disturb" sign that we could hang on the door handle. My wife was once woke up while she was napping. I took the club package. The Club lounge was very nice. The breakfast was very good. The staff there was welcoming, nice and helpful. The club was the only positive experience during my stay where I felt that I am in 5* hotel. However, my wife told me that during tea time, the lounge was often invaded by kids some of them were even playing with a ball!! The pool upstairs was also disappointing. It was March, the weather outside wasn't even that hot but the pool area was very hot. There was only few chairs. I went there only once and I left immediately. The pool was very small and there was no free chairs. Overall, I didn't feel in a 5* hotel. The staff wasn't that friendly. Most of them don't smile or even greet. The rate was ok but we could get better in nearby hotels for the same price or less. Probably i won't go back and I won't recommend the hotel. 05 April 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 10 days in Doha A great stay overall. The rooms were superb and the city views were spectacular. The nespresso coffee machine in the rooms went down especially well and kept a caffeine junkie like me well topped up. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were very well fitted out and the view from both my bath and my shower own the 39th floor was breathtaking. Good that I do to have vertigo... The atmosphere in the lounge was very relaxing and the food and drinks offerings provided in there were excellent. I had the opportunity to enjoy two dinner buffets in "The Square" on the 2nd floor and both the quality and the variation of the dishes were superb. Most importantly, the front desk staff were especially helpful and really went out of their way to resolve any issues or answer any questions that I had. They made me feel at home and I look forward to staying in the hotel again in the near future. 28 March 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No response from sales + Faciility issues I've asked twice for a long stay price but never got a reply, not even during the check out. The A/C was noisy and from time to time was even more noisy. The sewer system had some issues also. 26 March 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Good hardware but the staff ruins the place As a regular visitor of intercontinental and other business hotel chains I have to say this is a low water mark. The hotel itself, the rooms, facilities are what you would expect but when the staff run around like headless chickens it is hard to see oneself ever returning. There was more interest in carrying my bag than to actually get me checked into a room. When calling concierge to ask questions they didnt understand plain english and kept repeating "this is the concierge", I kind of knew that already when I picked up the phone in my room. When wanting to check in I was asked to wait by the swimming pool and use gym facilities as the room was not ready. Only when asked if there really wasnt anything they could do to check me in to another room did they tell me to wait and for them to return. No one returned. After 30 minutes I went downstairs to enquire about other possibilities and only when making it very clear how poorly things were managed did they manage to give me a twin rooom rather than the king I was booked into. How come they didnt offer this in the first place? When leaving the hotel, again waiting in the lobby I had 5 people come up to me asking to look after my bag...however, getting served a drink from the menu placed on the table took 30mins. These are only a few examples of many during this short stay where as a customer I had to tell the staff of different solutions/ideas etc to make my stay a reasonable one. Very poor and makes me wonder how this place will survive compared to competition which is rife in Doha. 19 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Room reservation process and room details consistency needs improvement If the guest have stayed previously and already have records of his preferences, how come still mistakes happen? Smoking room but was given non-smoking one... smoking room but ashtray not available for nth time....(for numerous stay, always have to call and request which usually takes time) vanity kit always incomplete... tissue holders unrefilled... shower water can't be adjusted, too hot or too cold...(please check this one urgently) 18 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel The hotel was comfortable with great service great staff. However the place is so difficult to reach and the meals was so expensive 15 March 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Food ;room design average No alcohol in mini bar TV ill positioned Far from normal Interconti standard 11 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent rooms, great gym, awesome view Overall, a great weekend escape. The top floor for the gym and pool was unique. The view was incredible. The rooms were nicely furnished. A lot of windows to watch the skyline and waterfront. The staff was extremely attentive at every turn. 21 February 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A too short stay in Doha I was in transit returning nto USA and made reservations at this hotel. I will say it is one of the better hotels I've stayed at, in the world, recently. I look forward to any assignment I have in Qatar so that I can stay at The City Intercontinental. All staff are great. If there is any criticism of the hotel I'd have to search for it. One thing though, "cigarette & cigar smoke" is difficult to clean from the air and although at this hotel, it is at a minimum, it is still an issue. I hope it can be fixed. Regards, CMP 29 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by airport transfer Transfer from the airport wasn't there when I arrived, despite confirmation from the hotel that it was booked The clerk at the adjacent hotel airport transfer desk called the hotel for you to come and collect me (as there was no one at the Intercon transfer desk). And you still charged me full rate. I should have got a taxi... but being met at the airport is one of the better bits of the journey. Never mind... Otherwise fine as always. 22 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Another very good stay I have been to Doha many times this year and mostly stay at this hotel. The rooms are very good indeed, very comfortable and large. The bathrooms are also very big with great amenities. Food and beverage outlets are high quality and reasonably good value although breakfast service was a little slower than usual due to the hotel being quite full. Most of the early “teething” problems are gone now although Taxi drivers still claim not to know where the hotel is situated. My recommendation to avoid wasted time is to print a Google map as the hotel is clearly and correctly marked. Based on this stay I would award 8/10 but overall if would say this hotel is one of the best in Doha. 23 December 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by New hotel with some issues Stayed here using my reward points, booked 2 rooms and received an upgrade for 1 to suite as a Royal ambassador member. The hotel is new (opened early 2012). However I've faced some issues in specific with: 1- Poor house keeping service (reported). 2- Water in swimming pool not clean (reported). 3- The lighting at the living room and the 2nd room was very poor (not reported). On the other side the hotel location is close to downtown, city centre mall and the room service taste was good with a reasonable prices. As a loyal member to IHG, It's a shame that I cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers! 22 December 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great view, excellent service I stayed for two nights with my wife for a weekend break. We were upgraded to a suite on the 46th Floor with access to the executive lounge. The bedroom was an odd shape but the bed was comfortable, TV selection and amenities very good. The bathroom was very good with fantastic views over the bay whilst in the bath. The location is spoiled by the fact that the surrounding area is a building site and there is still work going on at the front of the hotel, although two shopping centres are within easy walking distance. The Building fixtures and fittings are up to the normal Intercontinental standards but the finishing and decoration are not. The bars are a bit characterless and fairly quiet but the food was good and the Friday brunch, which covers one complete floor, was excellent and good value. The highlight was the staffs were very friendly, courteous and helpful. I would stay here again, but prefer the intercontinetal at west bat lagoon. 02 December 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent long stay apartments I have been in this property with my family from April to June and then again from September until now. The service has been consistently excellent, with friendly staff (without exception) and management willing to take feedback and act on it quickly. The 3 bedroom apartment I am in is very spacious, well laid out with plenty of storage and super comfortable beds. Showers and bath all work well. No nasty smells in this apartment. The gym (on the 46th floor) has the best view of any gym I have ever been in and it is a pleasure to work out in! Highly recommended. 14 November 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad services I booked tree rooms, they did not upgraded me ( Ambassador ). They gave me smoking room 03 November 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I have been recieved not as platinuem ambasadure In few words ihave been given paper with alist of all my benfits but idid not get any of these 02 November 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Room not Upgraded Room is not upgraded to suit as usually I get from all other Intercont. hotels over the world. 29 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A must visit hotel in a class of its own I have been staying at the InterContinental West Bay regularly since it opened a few months ago and cannot rate it highly enough. My trips are generally business trips which are quick visits. Every attention is paid to ensure that my travel is comfortable and an exceptional experience. From the spacious, comfy, well thought out bedroms, to the modern showers and bathrooms, irons and ironing boards provided in room (a very useful rarity these days), to the range of restaurants available and the very high quality of the food on offer, every detail has been thought of. The breakfast and evening buffet has a huge range of choices and freshly made delicious food, and the dessert room should not be missed, nor the chocolate bar in the lobby. The main attraction for me however - because you can have all the nice and pleasant aesthetics in the world but if the service is lacking you won't notice it - is the wonderful staff. From recepton to kitchen, I have never been treated more courteously, had more offers of assistance, been made more welcome, nor seen so many smiles as I see every time I stay here. Keep up the good work, it's a pleasure to stay wth you. 24 October 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sorry but not too good! This Intercontinental is not representative of others I have stayed at before, in fact a Holiday Inn Express offers more value. The hotel looks like its in a bomb site, the bulbs in the room had blow, the toilet area and bathroom smell, the front door had a faulty lock, the shower doors were faulty and dangerous as once wet they could not be opened from the inside, the air conditioning sounded like a parrot was in residence; even when I complained about the A/C it was not fixed, once I complained again it was not looked into until 18.00, this was the next day! Sorry, I'm a Platinum member but avoid!!!! 22 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel I stayed here for four days in the King Deluxe room and it was fabulous! The room was clean, and the bed incredibly comfortable. The room was also spacious as well as the bathroom with great closet space. I love this hotel. It is very modern and classy. The Strata lounge is lovely and has a breathtaking view of Doha. Had a great stay. Thank you!! 20 October 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My experience We really enjoyed our stay at Intercontinental Hotlel in Doah, with an extremly friendly staff. My only coplain is the lack of hot water in the shower. 19 October 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very friendly, work flow to improve Staff is polite, very friendly, supportive - great experience. But internal work flows need much improvement: you do not want to be served twice the same dish ordered, you do not want your shoes to get lost only shined, you do not want housekeeping to do this on day one and that on day two and another on day three.... 19 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice and good hotel I raccomend this hotel. It is really nice. I had a very good experience. 19 October 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room was facing a constrcution site with constant noise My room was facing/next to a construction site with constant noise (day and night) and when I mentioned it to the service desk; I was told that “this is common problem in Doha as a lot of projects are under constructions”. Did not enjoy my stay as I always do with other InterContinental locations. Staff seemed a bit confused, untrained and unorganized. By far my expectations of InterContinental were not met and I will think twice before staying there again. 17 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I raccomend this Hotel Is very nice and the staff is great. I reccomend it 17 October 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice place hotel located in the central of doha , it is clean , modern , Room is big enough , but the class in the elevation need to be cleaned for better view of the city 15 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Stay I have stayed with my whole family for 4 nights. I found the appratment in this hotel to be excellent choice for my family and myself. The furniture, the car parking, the appartment, and the staff were all excellent. I did not test the food in this hotel. 13 October 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff and big suites We had an excellent 3 week stay at Intercontinental Doha, The City. The staff were excellent, providing for all of our needs, requests, and then surprising us with extra services as well. The pool is amazing on the 48th or so floor and the gym is very nice. Our suite was huge with comfortable furniture and beds. When we had a problem with the air, a service person was sent at once. Excellent stay and would stay again. 07 October 2012
