LOCAL ESSENTIALS

THE PERFECT DAY

MORNING

Start your day with a classic Cuban coffee with traditional "tostadas", at Versailles Café, only a short distance from the hotel. If you are in the mood for something exciting, visit the Everglades National Park. Here, the adventure seeker in you can enjoy the natural wonders of our wildlife. Join the Miccosukee Indians on an air-boat tour through the Everglades' waters. If you prefer a more cultural view of Miami, the Vizcaya Museum and Garden provide a beautiful setting showcasing the rich Spanish heritage of our city or try one of our many musuems and galleries such as the Miami Art Museum.

AFTERNOON

Once in South Miami, you are close to the legendary Calle Ocho district, or Little Havana. This multiethnic neighborhood represents the merger between the old and new Miami. Make sure you walk to the unique Maximo Gomez park, or Domino Park. Here legions of the old guard from Cuba reminisce whilst playing dominos. Just across the street, you will find the Boulevard of the Stars, commemorating the outstanding members of this community; you will find many Cuban arts and crafts stores as well as sandwich shops for a quick ham and cheese "croqueta". If you are looking for a world class Guayabera, you must go to "La Casa de La Guayaberas". By this time you will probably be ready for some lunch. Luckily "Casa Juancho" is just a short distance away boasting the best home made Sangria in town as well as some delicious "Callos a la Madrileña".

EVENING

Tropical Fairchild Gardens offer some of the most beautiful exotic flowers and rare plants on the world. If you are lucky, they will be showcasing one of their rare blossoms that peak for extremely short periods of time. For dinner, we recommend Caramelo; an Italian-Caribbean fusion restaurant managed by its own chef, Willy Hernandez. If after dinner you want to share the dance floor with the locals, The Pawnshop is a laid back boutique lounge that hosts some of the best international DJ's. If it's the Latin flavor that you want to experience, Bongos Cuban Cafe is where the best in Caribbean and Latin beats are played.

INSIDER TIPS

LOCAL CULTURE

PRACTICE YOUR SPANISH

Though English is used throughout the city, Spanish will be commonly spoken in most areas. Known as the capital of the America's, Miami has latin heritage running through her veins. Certain areas of the city such as Little Havana speak more spanish than others, but dont be surprised to hear other languages as well due to the diversity of the city.

PACK AN UMBRELLA

Miami has weather to envy in the winter and spring with arguably, the best weather in the country. During the summer you will have plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun however, be wary of our sudden thunderstorms.

TO DRIVE OR NOT TO DRIVE?

We as Concierge typically recommend car rentals due to the seperation between attractions in the city. Taxi's are a phone call away however, a cab from Intercontinental at Doral Miami to South Beach (SoBe) is approximately $45 one way. Contact our Concierge team for special deals on rentals, tours, and private transportation.

DRESS LIGHTLY

Unless you visit Miami in December or January, Miami's temperature is typically in the high 80's to mid 90's so sweaters and coats are unecessary. Be sure to bring your bathing suits and sunblock for some fun in the sun.
