Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I'll stick with Holiday Inn & Crowne I work as a consultant and travel 4-5 days a week, every week. I am a loyal IHG member and I normally stay at Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza. I appreciate the IHG group for how I'm treated in being a Platinum Elite member at those locations; the staff always makes me feel special and I know I’m valued for my loyalty with the brand. This was certainly not the case when I decided to travel outside of my normal Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza zone and stay at IHG's flagship "Intercontinental" brand. My husband came to Miami for work as well and I decided that I would move from the Holiday Inn, over to the Intercontinental for a 'treat'. Please let me preface that while I am disappointed with my experience, the hotel is gorgeous, the rooms are clean, and the beds are very comfortable. During my check in process, I was promptly greeted as being a “Rewards Club Member”; however, after we were notified that we were ‘Gold Elite’ status, I had to question why this would be, seems how I have been a Platinum member and stay weekly in either the Crowne or the Holiday Inn. I provided my Platinum Elite card to the young lady checking us in and she responded “Oh, they must have downgraded you to gold” and we were quickly dismissed to our room (where we found the accommodations to be average). After spending about 30 minutes on the phone with an IHG customer service representative to understand what happened with the status, we found the culprit; apparently, I have two IHG cards, one Gold status, and one Platinum. Customer service contacted the front desk to get them to properly update our bonus points for our stay but we weren't offered a complementary upgrade (which is the norm for a platinum member at the Holiday Inn and the Crowne). We did later contact the front desk and they provided us with a “Business room” which was a little more spacious than the standard room, but wasn't amazing in the least. To sum it up, the check-in process was less than perfect, the hotel itself was extremely beautiful, rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. The “in-room” amenities were average; there were no “self-serve” ice machines on the floor (you had to call to get ice) and there was no in room refrigerator. Oh, and we were charged $1 for the call to customer service to get our rewards status straightened out. In no way will I stray away from IHG as a whole, but I think I’m just going to stick with the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza for now on. 10 August 2014

The InterContinental at Doral Miami does not have pet friendly accommodations and as such it is the policy of the hotel not to allow pets unless it is approved by management under special circumstances. A nonrefundable cleaning fee of 250 per room.
