Almost every single point of contact with their staff was positively memorable. They don't just smile at me but made me smile every time making me feel welcomed.
Had dinner in Picasso on Thursday evening and the whole vibe was just great: their singer (and her band) was fantastic and the food also was very good. The kind of place I would go at least every month with my wife if I leave there.
Spending over 150 nights a year in business travel at 5-star hotels, this one in particular was, I don't know, different. They really know how to make me feel good.
Cogratulations to the team and their management!

I have visited the hotel before, and i noticed a great difference from the moment i checked in. I was instantly recognized as a rewards program member and made feel special. This has never happened before. However, 1 thing to improve is: hot water at 5am to shave is a must, i could only get lukewarm water out of the faucet.

few comments related to things that i think you need to improve:
1) check in
to arrive the hotel around 0700 pm is a nightmare, the check in took me more than 45 minutes.
when i asked what was going wrong, the answer i got was that the issue is that several flights arrive at the same time.
please add one person to the staff, 45 minutes waiting to do the check in is not reasonable, even more if we are talking about an Intercontinental hotel.
2) hot water.....there was not hot water in the room, someone told me that there was an issue with the water pump, honestly i dont care, if i choose an Intercontinental hotel to stay i expect to receive certain level of service, including hot water in the room.

El Hotel esta ubicado en un excelente punto, que permite visitar muchos lugares, ademas si uno va de trabajo es ideal para reuniones. Sus restaurantes son excelentes y su desayuno es uno de los mejores que he disfrutado.

I found the maids wet rag in my clean cloths. Complained to manager who send a cheese tray to my room. Complained to a second manger who promised to provide me something special during my next stay. I have no idea what special means. Asked for the general manager to call me about my security concern, I have not received a call yet. After a week, I sent a complaint to corporate website. Still no reply.
On top of this, construction started 2 hours before my alarm on a Saturday morning. Manager said construction was not to start until after my call. No action to resolve.
Obviously a totally unacceptable experience.

I think the "upgrade" to a room next to the hotel elevators on the Ambassador level was a little short sighted when we could hear the noise of the elevators constantly. We called and were immediately given another room on the same floor-- so why put us in the worst room to start? When there were plenty of better rooms
Also no newspaper delivered as promised. Our room rate included breakfast ( not a part of the Ambassador club amenities?)and will say their buffet downstairs in the main restaurant was great!
The pool is under renovation and their lobby bar too- some construction noise going on. Hope they finish soon. The gym was good; equipment in good shape
The staff were very friendly and polite.
But I think as an ambassador member when you make a reservation for 2 people for one room giving one bottle of water is a little- "too thrifty" for paying for membership.
The wifi works well and that was not charged so appreciated that.
The food in the restaurant was very good!!
Also not clear why as an ambassador member gold status was not offered access to club lounge???? Our room keys would not grant us access to the floor- we were on another Ambassador level / floor
We wanted to be near the airport for our flight the next day so staying here was pleasant and convenient. Their complimentary shuttle on the hour worked well---

Linens, pillows, faucetts, furniture, room in general looked worn down. Poor quality cable TV. One elevator out of service, or at least never seemed to work. Below Intercontinental standard. Nice staff though, with good customer service attitude.

my suitcase was lost and when the hotel staff found out, they were the ones that offer to take care of my issue. The driver and one of the bell boys were prompt to help me and got my luggage from the airport and up to my room. I am grateful that they did all for me.
that only happens in a hotel where they know how to make a guess feel at home!

We reserved a room with a King bed and received a Full bed instead. We told the front desk twice about it and they assured us that we really did receive a King bed room. Only after contacting the maid staff did the front desk realize that their computer system incorrectly marked the room as King. The night staff gladly changed our room. But this hassle (and the annoyance of the day staff's incorrect assurance) was not what any guest would have expected from IHG staff.
We would not recommend this particular hotel to other guests.

I stayed in 2 rooms in the same week - and in both rooms, the shower would not drain, despite me notifying the front desk about the first room (and I just gave up on the second).
It's as most travelers have reviewed this hotel on other sites; great staff, but the facilities need an upgrade.
Also, the entire 7th floor smelled like rubbing alcohol/dry erase markers for several hours during the week. Don't know why.

All I can say about my stay is that when I arrived to the hotel I was impressed by the customer service provided by the girls in the front desk. They were very nice, and helpful. Since I arrived early in the morning. I was invited to wait for my room in the concierge lounge on the 15th floor. The lady in the front desk called, and told them that I was going to be waiting for my room over there, and to invite a drink while I wait. When I went up there, the gentleman in the room didn't even greet me even after I identified myself, and I was never offered anything to drink.
A couple days later, I was having problems with one particular male waiter in the restaurant where you have breakfast, it seems that the waiter is racist, and a couple times I asked for something, and he brought it with a nasty face. Then my wife came to visit me at the hotel, and another day she requested something to the same waiter, and he sent another waiter to serve us. I complained about it, and nothing was done.
Last but not least, when my wife arrived, I asked if I was going to get charge for double occupancy, and they said, no. But they told me that breakfast for my wife was not going to be included, and I told them that I would pay with another credit card. At the end, I was not only charge for breakfast, I was charge $15 dollars per day as en extra room charge, and I was charge more, because my wife left two days before I did, but they still charge me for that, and I was also charge for breakfast. And to end this nice stay, I was told that since I had a special rate that I wasn't going to get points for the two weeks I stayed in the hotel.

The hotel itself is great, but the staff is what really made my stay. Everyone I encountered was warm and friendly, and always went out of their way. My room had a great view of the city and was surprisingly quite at night. I had a couple issues with the shower water pressure in the morning, but aside from that it was an excellent stay. This is my favorite hotel in Guatemala, and I would come back here again.

My stay was great as always but I have a couple of items that can be improve. I stayed twice in the last 30 days but my points were not added and I'm a gold member in your database although I'm a platinum ambassador. Maybe is not the hotels fault but it should be an easier way to register any point earned by staying in the intercontinental chain. Otherwise as always the service and the overall hotel was good and pleasant.

Pros: Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable. Check in & Check out staff was great. Excellent location.
Cons: Noisy in Lobby Area, (maybe because of wedding receptions and loud live music @ bar). Room cleanliness can be improved.

I decided to stay at Intercontinental for a weekend getaway and chose it for its renown sleep quality. unfortunately, the only thing i liked was the location and the sleep quality. For its value, i think the management should consider training the staffs (esp. the ones at the front desk)and improving the quality of the breakfast.

The Intercontinental Hotel in Guatemala city is in need of renovation. The décor is dated and the carpets in the rooms and hallways are worn - there is a dated appearance for the entire hotel. The staff is not knowledgeable and does not seem to be eager to help - I was in the business office to use the internet and the lady that was there was indifferent to my wanting to print my boarding passes (the printer required a password) - she was busy on the phone chatting with her friends. I had to complain to the duty manager who was quite apologetic and sorted things out. The next day I asked about any local city tour and was told to call a travel agency that operated in the hotel - the staff did not assist me in obtaining the tour and I was even charged for the call to the travel agency that was based in the hotel.
When I asked for recommendations about local restaurants, I was directed to a chain restaurant across the hotel that was serving Mexican food!!
The staff needs to be trained to be attentive to the needs of guests - on the weekend they had a lot of noisy guests for a party that was being hosted in the hotel - at quite an inconvenience to the guests that were staying at the hotel.

I really had a disappointing experience during my last stay (Jul 17-19). As a Gold status member, I expected that my request for a king size bed (both on my profile and my request for this stay) would be acknowledged. I was placed in a tiny room (824) with a very small single bed. I requested front office to change me but the response was that there was no availability and to ask the next day to see if a another room was available then. Very dissapointing response. Also, the promise of the daily newspaper delivered to my room was not fulfilled.
In summary, very disappointing experience. I expect that during my next stay these issues will be compensated.

2. Courtesy transportation to the airport starts from 6am. I usually take 7 o'clock flight and I have to be at the airport at 5, I have to take a taxi
