Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bouffer comfortable bed, fantastic food and great service
Hanoi Westlake is an oasis of calm and luxury. All personnel were most professional, welcoming and well trained - universally delightful. The pillow and the bed made for a blissful nights sleep - as did the great insulation. No noise at all from any other areas. The range of food available, the presentation and the taste was a highlight as was the spaciousness of the room and the hotel. Highly recommended.

a fine hotel....the rooms on the lake, although considered an upgrade feel less luxurious than the rooms in the hotel...layout is basically the same but higher ceilings give a more spacious feel....staff are polite...however the language problem leads to some confusion during our stay, and the manager was no help...(his job seems to be to deny that there is a problem rather than sort it out...this is not unusual)...lobby area is lovely and breakfast , a pleasure..location is an issue if you just want to wander out for dinner...but for $5 you can travel into the city...if you know where you are going!

Generally, it is a quiet place to stay in as the environment is really peacefull without much traffic noise coming from outside. I would ecommend this hotel to those who wants to get away from the busy traffic and just hang around in the hotel for a nice and calm getaway

When traveling on business, the hotel that one stays is of utmost importance. My trip to Hanoi was a great one as a result of Hanoi Westlake. The room was fantastic and the staff was very attentive and friendly with all of the guests!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Zeusann Excellent check in experience and room was perfect
First impressions of the hotel are very impressive and our check in was the most courteous and pleasant service we have ever experienced at a hotel. We had requested at time of booking (via our travel agent) a lake view non smoking room and the check in receptionist advised that our allocated room would not meet this criteria. She advised that no alternatve room was available and immediately arranged an upgrade to a king deluxe room with a lakeview. This room was magnificent, beyond our expectations and set the tone for a most pleasant and memorable stay for our three nights.
The service and facilities provided throughout the hotel were excellent including the reception, breakfast, cleaning and general hotel staff who catered to our every request promtly and with a genuine smile.
Although we were generally more than satisfied with the food at all three hotels we stayed at in Vietnam the breakfast service and food was the best we had encountered. Due to our initial impressions and upgrade we decided to eat all evening meals at the hotel which was a great decision as the food was the best we had had in Vietnam and very reasonably priced for the quality and ambiance of the hotel.

Although we were very unlucky with the weather on our visit, and didn't particularly like Hanoi, we couldn't fault the Intercontinental Westlake. We had 2 lovely evening meals at the hotel - their new French chef came to see us after our meal to see if we'd enjoyed it which was a nice touch - even asked us to sample a desert foc - it was delicious!

Breakfast, bar, sauna, and cleaness of the room were very good. But Chicken started crying from the early morning, which made some anoying sound and the room was not bright enough to read books.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bman65 A letdown with the service
I have stayed at this property more than 10 times. It has it's share of problems in the past but this time the service was at it's worst. I wasn't acknowledged as an ambassador member during check in; however, a letter was handed to me with all the benefits I would receive during this stay. After checking in, a maid entered the room without ringing the bell or knocking. After placing a plate in the cabinet, she quickly left the room. I called instant service to complain but since I didn't get the name of the maid, nothing was done. Then a technician came to the room (rang the bell this time) and wanted to come in to fix a leakage in the bathroom. Nobody had informed me about this so when I led him into the bathroom I did see a small pile of water in the corner right next to the toilet. Despite the letdown, Intercontinental is still one of the better hotels in Hanoi.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joy in the Sun Luxurious bed and linens
My overall experience was between good and excellent. The setting is exquisite sitting in the middle of a lake area and across the street from to a famous temple. The staff were a bit reserved, but smiled easily. Service was a bit slow, and it was a bit difficult to be understood. Despite these minor inconveniences, I would book again at this property without hesitation. It is an oasis in the midst of a bustling city..

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and were happy about the attentiveness of the staff. It would help to have wifi access in the guest rooms instead of having to go to the lobby to obtain it. A comment about our rooms: the first one was fine but the second one we got after the Halong Bay trip with Uniworld had a carpet that needed cleaning, although the room was more spacious and comfortable.
Thanks for a good stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Intercontinental Hanoi for 4 nights in February, and unfortunately we had heavy fog for the entire period and really couldn't enjoy the views out over the lake. However, that did not reflect on the hotel itself and we cannot fault the experience...

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bo Batu Hotel Great, Horrible Spa
The hotel and staff were wonderful. Peaceful, except for the rooster that woke us up every morning.
The Spa isn't a spa at all. Shameful to even call it a spa. Treatment room was a curtain pulled across an employee's break room. People coughing and whispering. Awful! One massage therapist was not even trained properly.
We were given a complimentary massage to make up for the bad one after my husband complained. It was much better.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Travel Often Not a great experience
There were pockets of very good staff friendliness. Particularly in the executive lounge..
All other aspects, this hotel is pretty average. I have stayed here a few times before but this will probably be the last time. There must have been a change in management and you can't help but feel there are dodgy elements when it came to room rates and charges.
Of all the Intercontinental hotel experiences I've had over the years ( Royal Ambassador), the Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake experience will be the one that contributed significantly to my joining other hotel loyalty programmes.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Scoota4 Towels and Bath towels need renewing!
This is the second time we've stayed at your hotel, this time I was bringing my Dad, so asked for an interconnecting room, and booked King size beds. Was asked on confirmation of booking via internet that we could upgrade to the Lakeview rooms, and pay the extra on arrival. I said this would be fine, thinking we could enjoy a G&T on the terraces watching the sun go down. When we arrived we were told we had interconnecting rooms but one room as a King and one with 2 singles. This was not explained to me previously. We said that we would take 2 king rooms, and not have them interconnecting. The room we were given smelt damp and musty, and we did not get a wink of sleep most of the night, as we were on the ground floor corner and all you heard all night was the reverse lights on the buggies, or people pulling their suitcases accros the cobbles!
We called to say that we wanted the rooms changed, and to be in the main building. To be fair this was accommodated, and after breakfast we were able to checkin to a new room, where my Dad was also on the same floor and in the room next to us. This room was much better, although my only complaint would be that the towels and bath robes desperately need changing they are stiff, hard and grey!! - Not the standard of a 5 star hotel!

I found the staff amazing they went out of their way to make my stay so comfortable. The hotel itself is exquisite but the staffs attitude was so warm and friendly. I booked a trip to cuc phuong national forrest and they arranged everything with such consideration and my guide Cong well he gave me faith back in people. His honesty and sense of humour , his consideration and help was a humbling experience and I recommend Cong to any foreigner who like myself has lost their way. I will never forget this boy and am very grateful more than anything else for the opportunity to have associated with someone of such high standards, Thankyou for having me and thankyou for all your help..

Great hotel and one of the few places in Hanoi where you can get some quiet. The staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. The rooms are a good size and the view over the lake is superb. Very close to Xian Dieu - a street where there are ample good restaurants and a few shops. Short taxi ride to the Old Quarter. I would recommend walking out to the road for a taxi - the taxi's at the hotel regard you as fair game as a westerner. I used them twice and both times they tried to take me the (very) long way round.
