Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best massage I've ever had I have just returned home after my trip to Vietnam. Whilst in Hanoi my friend and I stayed at the Intercontinental Westlakes. Firstly I want to say a huge thankyou to all the staff there who made our time there incredibly comfortable and enjoyable.We were welcomed to the country by friendly faces, knowledgable staff and an incredible room which was nothing short of five star class. All staff at the hotel were quick to answer queries and when there was a slight issue with the water in our room someone was sent down straight away to fix it. Not only were the rooms impeccably clean, the staff helpful and the facilities of a high standard, the massage which we recieved on the first day (the whole package) was the best throughout my entire time in the country. I was taken to another place whilst in the serenity of the massage room. The staff were extremely professional and kind. The staff in the travel agency were very helpful and organised a number of aspects of our trip. They were prompt at getting back to us and managed to organise lower prices than initially quoted. Overall I had an amazing experience for such an affordable price (I can't normally afford to indulge in such luxuries). I want to say a huge thankyou to all the staff that made our experience what it was, from the massage staff to the cleaners, the concierge and even the people who brought fresh towels and a night time story about vietnam in the evening. Thankyou for your hospitality and exceptional service. I would highly reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting Hanoi. 24 March 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Relaxing in Hanoi Excellent once we sorted the Priority Check In procedure. This visit used our free weekend night as part of the Ambassador program and we were upgraded to a fabulous Junior Suite as part of the Ambassador program. We highly recommend the Ambassador program. The extra service and upgrades of this program have proved to be well worthwhile - especially in Hanoi. We also subscribed to the Club Lounge package and as usual this was for us extremely good value. Staff were very helpful, courteous and prompt in addressing any queries we had. 24 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Location but restaurant staff needs training Beautiful rooms, a great location and nice facilities. The Club room service was without fault--always attentive and friendly. The problem is with the two restaurants on the Mezzanine level: Saigon and Milan. Both are laid out lovely and the food is excellent and very well priced. But even dining alone it took almost 2 1/2 hours---and there were only 6 people in the entire dining room. First I waited for my order to be taken....then I waited for my finished plates to be cleared, and finally after dessert EVERYONE was gone from the dining room by 9:45pm and I sat waiting for my bill--or for someone to ask if I wanted anything extra or even to know if I was still alive, I finally got up 25 minutes later and THEN the hostess made her appologies and had my check ready in 20 seconds. Why did it take me getting up to leave to produce that bill? Taking to the manager he said he trains his staff not to rush people or hand them the bill because some diners want after-dinner drinks or coffee or whatever. But NO ONE came to my table and my waitress disappeared. I never saw her after she cleared by dessert plate, So how were they going to serve me anymore? Completely unacceptable. 24 March 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Good Hospitality Whether my stay is pleasant or not depends alot on the comfort of the room. I like the King Size bed, spacious toilet and a huge bath tub. Breakfast is the next I enjoyed especially with the wide variety and Vietnamese noodles.... I look fiorward every morning. Gym is sufficiently equip. Overall a 5-star experience. 21 March 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice room but disappointed by the service The room was really perfect and the staff helpful. However, I indicated during the booking that I came here one night for my honeymoon and ask to add at least some flower or something special in the room for that occasion. The only thing we got was a card signed by a manager, with a plate with 4 biscuits and a few fruits. I was really disappointed from this point of view, even more because I got confirmation with my phone call before that the room was especially prepared for that occasion. 12 March 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Westlake view and Friendly Helpful Staff I stayed at the InterContinental Westlake for 5 nights in March 2013. The good: 1. The property is beautifully designed and is a bit removed, located right on Westlake -- terrific views. Add 10 - 15 minutes to commute during rush hour just in case. 2. Ambassador Club is nicely apportioned, solid breakfast and afternoon wine / snacks. 3. The staff is uniformly friendly. Special recommendation to Guest Relations Officer Lan for her help in extending my stay. 4. Large room with two balconies overlooking Westlake. Good bed and pillows. The not-so-good: 1. I had a large junior suite that need to be redesigned. There was mostly wasted space in the middle of the room that could have been made into a comfortable sitting are in front of the TV. Rooms and hallways need redoing. 2. Saigon Restaurant: The 2 dishes I had were greasy and sub-par. 3. Not sure this is a 5-star, but more of a solid 3.5 inside with a 5.0 outside. 09 March 2013

Yes, the hotel is a little removed from the city centre but a taxi is readily available when required. Saigon restaurant onside was lovely and priced were era reasonable. Would thoroughly recommend the property. Intercontinental lives up to its name again. 13 February 2013

Air conditioner is not working properly, had to call hotel staff. Club launge is not up to Intercontinental standard, food in launge is very poor and very less choice. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent all round experience My wife and 2 children stayed 1 night either end of Halong Bay trip, The staff were very polite and attentive,Rooms were fabulous and priority check in let us take extra yoghurt and spoons for childrens bus trip to Halong. What can one say when you cannot find fault ,A credit to hotel management on staff training, Will be returning to vietnam on business and will stay there and highly reccommend it. Also it was not just a hotel that catered for business persons but family as well because I couldnt help noticing the subtle way children were kept from being a disturbance to business persons. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Good hotel, very expensive! The staff were helpful and seem very willing to assist, especially the guys on the doors organising taxis for me! The food was good, breakfast was especially good. However, all food at this hotel seems very expensive for what you get. It is tasty and well cooked, but seemed overpriced, especially in comparrision to food within the city. The negatives: When I booked over the internet, almost immediately I was asked if i wanted to upgrade the room for another $50 per night. The room was pretty expensive, even taking into account the reduced room rate for advanced booking. No free wifi in the room. The room rate was expensive enough I would have expected free WiFi! The buffet dinner was very expensive. Admittedly a lot of choice but you cannot really eat enough to make the cost worthwhile. 18 January 2013

Great location, quite, staff are very frienly, helpful and informed. The food is excellent, the rooms are modern with an asian feel, spacious, amazing views and very clean. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lovely hotel, excellent food and staff Hotel was in a lovely quiet setting but walking distance (if you like a long walk) from the city. Rooms on the lake were lovely. We had an air-conditioning problem but the staff were onto it very quickly and fitted in with our schedule. Breakfast was lovely and we were given a small take-away breakfast the morning we had to leave as it was too early for the restaurant to be open. Staff were always friendly and helpful. A little out of town on Westlake although one quickly comes to appreciate this given the manic nature and noise of the old quarter. Our lake view room was probably one of the best in the resort, with an unobstructed view of West lake. Hotel facilities were great including the gym and breakfast buffet, and the staff were nothing but kind and generous, with a special touch of a cake delivered to our room for my wife's birthday! Staff were generally excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Hanoi. 11 January 2013

We finished off our holiday with a three night stay at the Intercontinental-what a wonderful experience! We decided to pay the extra for the Intercontinental Club which included breakfast and canapes with happy hour-tremendous value and wonderful service. The staff in the club were particularly helpful-we will always remember the cheerful assistance of Lan Ann! The room hanging over West Lake was breathtaking. This was quite possibly the most enjoyable property we have ever stayed in, with several previous trips to Asia. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 09 January 2013

Simply love it. The only thing i didnt't quite like is the pillows. It's way too soft and even the selection of pillows from the menu wasn't such a great improvement. 06 January 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A delightful romantic hotel From the junior suite to the club lounge and breakfast, our stay at the intercontinental Westlake could not have been better. The friendliness of the wonderful staff in the club lounge was something special. Rooms were good, although the junior suite balconies were rather poky, amenities in the bathroom superior, We were able to get a 6 pm checkout as our plane did not leave till 11 pm and this was marvellous. One criticism...I would have expected a proper coffee machine to make real coffee as is found in other intercontinental properties. Two sachets of that ghastly instant coffee is not appropriate at this level of service. 02 January 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Language difficulties and poor service This hotel was by far the worst that I stayed in in South East Asia. To use my iPad I had to be in reception. There was no wifi in my room. An issue because the room was so very far away from the reception. You had to walk to the room via the lake which I didn't find comfortable as I am allergic to insect bites. The staff's command of English was poor and when I encountered a serious problem the staff were dismissive. I had a light supper and couldn't eat the meat as it was too grissly. On one occasion I was seated at a table by one member of staff and then moved on by another. I have simple dietary requirements which their menu didn't cater for. Seemed to be a fine hotel if you were in a big coach party say, but hopeless for an individual travelling alone. 29 November 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful views We stayed in the Wake Lake rooms and the view from the balcony was breath taking. All the staff were polite and friendly. The hotel throughout was spotless! Cant fault the place. We didnt eat there though so cant comment on the food. 28 November 2012
