LOCAL CULTURE

Dress

The only time visitors to Turkey are asked not to wear shorts and women are requested to cover their arms and legs is when they visit a mosque. This is asked as a gesture of respect, much as when tourists visit European cathedrals. While, for cultural or religious reasons, many Turkish women do cover their heads, it is not obligatory for a tourist to do so. You may barrow a scarf at the entrance of the mosque.
MODERN SPLENDOUR IN ISTANBUL OVERLOOKING THE BOSPHORUS
Five star ambiance in the heart of the Ottoman's capital city, InterContinental Istanbul is the ideal base for exploring endless historic sites, museums, restaurants, clubs and shops. Located in Taksim with stunning views of the Bosphorus, Istanbul skyline and the Blue Mosque, this Istanbul hotel is a short walk from Dolmabahce Palace and Lütfi Kırdar Congress Hall. Our attentive concierge staff is also available for recommendations.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 139 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Courteous / proffesional Hotel lobby large lovely elegant rooms small for American standard , needs upgrade , I would say carpet , decor over 10 years old however super clean . For it to maintain a Hotel with a five star rating the rooms must be brought into the 21st century . As is it is a four star hotel do to the age of the unremodled rooms . The hotel staff is superb having gone out of their way in every which way to accommodate all of my needs . 06 July 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great view and location Staying at the Intercontintal is good for the new Istanbul. Wonderful views of the Bosporus and Sea of Marmara. Right on Taksim Square and close to the shops and pedestrian walk. 05 July 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very friendly staff but to costly considering what was provided. Intercontinental in Istanbul is well located, very friendly/polite/professional staff, (reception, spa, cleaning, baggage, thank you), very nice spa and training facility. The room, (Club) was somewhat old and the WiFi far to slow, (for being a business hotel in a metropolitan city you expect internet to work flawlessly). Far too expensive considering what is usually available in this price range. 02 July 2014
