Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Hotel for Visiting Country Club Plaza I had a good stay at this hotel. With my IHG rewards, I got a room upgrade. This gave us a spacious room with a fantastic view of the Plaza. The bed was a little firm for my tastes. My wife loved the firmer mattress. Our room was close to the elevator. The elevator isn't terribly loud, but you can hear it. My biggest issue was hearing people loudly talking and laughing as they got off the elevator and walked down the hall to their room. I didn't get a lot of sleep. However, my wife slept just fine. So, I don't think I can say it was too loud. It was too noisy for me. Our room had a couch and an upholstered chair around a coffee table in one corner of the room. It was a nice area to sit and unwind after walking around the Plaza for a few hours. Overall, this hotel is great for anyone wanting a hotel with quick access to the Plaza. 22 January 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing We stayed at this hotel 35 years ago for our first wedding-night Last weekend the staff that greeted us was totally not interested in sharing with us what their hotel had to offer. We found our own way to our Room. No one in the Lobby asked if the could help us during our whole stay. The view of the Plaza was beautiful. And the bed was heavenly. Was thankful for the bedding...the room never got warm. It was a cold weekend. Our towels in the bathroom were soiled and the bathroom was not totally clean. We found the Jazz bar in the Lobby. Our waiter and bartender Rob and Chris were the best of the hotel staff and service we received. We were charged for valet parking on the final bill...thankfully the house removed it from our bill. Not sure if we would ever return. 15 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Wonderful Birthday Surprise My husband surprised me for my birthday at my absolute favorite hotel in the Kansas City area. Our room was gorgeous as it overlooked the lights on the Plaza. We enjoy being close to amazing shopping and 5 star dining at The Capital Grill. We enjoyed the concierge service on the 11 floor, which was exquisite. The food, service, and the big screen t.v. was very nice. We are active duty Air Force, and were treated like royalty. Thank you InterContinintal for a fabulous weekend to be remembered. 14 January 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Service! The staff provide high quality service and are extremely attentive. Room service is very good and the food is quite good. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is fairly luxurious. If you find that your room does not have lotion then call and ask for it to be delivered and the staff will respond promptly. If you are a vegetarian, there are few vegetarian items on the menu however there are many restuarants at different price levels within a 5 to 10 minute walk or you can order a peanut butter and jelly or a grilled sandwich off of the kids menu. The hotel rooms have balconies which makes the rooms colder in winter while this is a great place in summer, spring and fall, you might want to either find a hotel without balconies for winter or ask for a room without a balcony in winter because your room might not be warm enough. 10 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very nice location and very nice staff at check-in the staff were very nice. I also talked to the doormen a few times who were also very nice. I was invited to the members club for snacks on the 11th floor and the gentleman running the room was also very nice. the hotel has a great view of downtown. the beds are big and comfortable. some of the windows have air leaks, but the Heating System was very good and kept the room at a nice temp. 09 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff and comfortable rooms. Warm and professional welcome by Josh, Front Desk Manager. As an Ambassador Club member, Josh provided a complimentary upgrade to room 403, a spacious suite overlooking the plaza with holiday lights. Josh also provided complimentary access to the Club Lounge. The IC is spotless and with all the modern conveniences. Everyone at the hotel is polite and professional. Thanks again to Josh for the nice welcome after a long drive. We will recommend your hotel and certainly it'll be our first choice when we return. 07 January 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Beautiful hotel This was our first stay at this hotel. It is a beautiful property and the service we received was excellent. Very spacious guest room with a nice view of the plaza. Enjoyed happy hour in the lounge. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Will definitely return. 07 January 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Need some help 1. Called twice to get some shampoo, conditioner, etc. - wasn't in room upon arrival. After dining in Oak Room went to Front Desk and asked for it to happen - it did. Previous attempts the staff only brought certain items, not the full compliment of things. 2. No coffee in room?! How does that happen? 3. Told before and upon arrival I could do late check out at 2 p..m. Afterwards I was told 12:30 p.m. I like this hotel. We had fun. But no bathroom amendities? No coffee? Hard to understand. 07 January 2015
