Bell staff (outside and inside) outstanding (we had not been to the hotel for several months and when we arrived on March 21, everyone stopped and welcomed us back and said they were glad to see us); front desk (check-in) outstanding (we checked in at 5PM on Mar 21 and the person who checked us in acknowledged our membership in IHG and assigned us a suite with access to the club lounge; housekeeping staff incredible (we were on the 6th floor, room 604, and the nice lady working our area was absolutely the best ever; concierge outstanding (we accessed the club lounge for evening cocktails and morning breakfast - the staff, especially the lady who was working Monday 23 March, in the morning, was exceptionally kind, courteous, and helpful)

My spouse and I decided to come to Kansas City from Pittsburg for my birthday, which was the 22nd. I first decided on the Intercontinental because it was on the plaza and all the rooms have balconies. Checking in was easy and we decided to get a room on the eleventh floor, which included the lounge service. I am so glad we decided to upgrade! The atmosphere in the lounge was very nice. We sat at a small table by the patio window overlooking the Plaza. We enjoyed our picks from a variety of complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. We missed the happy hour in the early evening but made it for the dessert bar, so along with yummy liqueurs there were also delicious pastries. It was heaven! I must compliment Craig, the person overseeing the lounge. He was so nice and attentive. We really enjoyed his service.
We then decided to go to the restaurant downstairs. The food was delicious. I must recommend the scallops, they were absolutely wonderful! We went to the lounge for our breakfast also. Once again we were impressed by the wonderful variety of food and drinks. The two men working that morning were amazing also. There was an older gentleman and then Rueben.
The only thing that could be considered negative is that Craig called for a bottle of champagne to come to our room when he found out that it was my birthday, but it never showed up. The experience was so nice that I didn't really mind too much. I am counting the days until we come back!

I was originally slated to stay on the 6th floor, but when I told the hotel concierge that I wasn't going to be able to sleep with the traffic noise coming from the highway below my room, she upgraded me a wonderful room on the 11th floor with complimentary concierge service. It was such a kind thing for he to do for me and I greatly appreciate it. I had a much better sleep as a result!
