LOCAL CULTURE

Exciting Surroundings

Just off the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, you can find amazing natural beauty in the Southern Nevada canyons and desert. Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, and Lake Mead are among the best. And don’t miss the Hoover Dam, only 35 miles south of the Strip.

DID YOU KNOW ?

Architecture

The Venetian® was envisioned as a tribute to the famed city of Venice, Italy. To recreate the city’s landmarks – as well as its charm – artists, architects, and experts conducted extensive research in Venice to ensure that every last detail of The Venetian was faithful to the original. Authentic materials were imported and talented artisans commissioned to being Venice to Vegas. When you’re here, ask for an Arts & Architecture guide to help locate the Clock Tower, Ca’d’Oro, Bridge of Sighs, Doge’s Palace, Palazzo Contarini Fasan, Rialto Bridge, St. Marks Square, and the Campanile, among others.

WHAT TO PACK

Weather

Vegas is known for its heat. Things start heating up in mid-March and won’t let up until October. So, most of the year, shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, and bathing suits are necessities, but, unless you’re here in the middle of summer, a jacket is needed too. As the sun sets, temperatures drop pretty dramatically in the desert, so come prepared. Also, Vegas nightlife can be a pretty upscale affair, with the world’s best restaurants, Broadway-caliber shows, and sophisticated nightclubs, you’ll want to bring your best duds for painting the town red.
