Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not recommended I stayed for 3 nights at Intecon Manila, and fair to say, I have had better experiences elsewhere. The reasons are: 1. Breakfast Experience - I am vegetarian but there was little or no vegetarian options for breakfast. The few items that were available were clearly not breakfast dishes, but more suited to lunch or dinner. Also, given this is a 5-star rated property, I expect the cutlery to be of high quality, but in one instance, the teaspoon was of bent steel, not the usual silver. 2. Room Experience - in general, the room size is good, although the toilet ceiling is a bit low. Like most older hotels, there are inadequate number of power outlets to charge the multitude of devices one now carries. And the lighting could be a little brighter. But sleep quality and bed quality were good. One serious note - presence of significant cobwebs behind the TV console - simply unacceptable! 3. Check-out Experience - on check-out, when I asked the bill to be sent by email, I was told my email is not on file. This is extremely strange, as I am a IHG member, my IHG profile has my email address, I get regular emails from IHG, AND, I had communicated with the hotel via email to arrange airport transfers. 4. Transportation Experience - I wanted a regular hotel taxi to the airport, but the hotel insisted I should take a limo. I didn't quite understand the rationale behind why am I forced to take a more expensive option, and mentioned it to one of the asst. managers. Basically, the way I see it, by forcing me to take the limo, you are actually telling me not to take your services. While this was sorted out later, it was not a good experience. A result of the above experiences led me to cancel my next reservation for Jul 22 2014 with the same hotel, and unlikely that I will be staying here again any time soon. 20 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best for service Although old and showing signs of its age this is still a great hotel. Good location. What makes it so good is the staff. You can check in at the airport so your room and very thing is available after fighting through the notorious Manila traffic. Hotel staff are always there when you need then attentive happy to help but not over the top and in your face. Always have a great stay when in Manila 19 July 2014

Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend zu den Gästen. Das Angebot der Verpflegung zum Frühstück wie auch zum Lunch und Dinner übertrifft viele andere gleichwertige Hotels und kann nur empfohlen werden. Der Sicherheit in diesem Hotel wird grosse Beachtung geschenkt, so dass man auch beruhigt übernachten kann. 13 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Memorable Stay First of all, making the reservation with the help of Ms.Raissa was extremely helpful. She even called me from the Philippines while I was in the United State to answer my questions. Our room attendant, Mr. Jason, who cleaned our room every morning was also extremely helpful. He would even call the elevator for me if he saw me coming down the hallway so I wouldn't have to wait. Your security staff, especially Mr. Bernard, would greet us every time he saw us, and also get an elevator for us. Your restaurant staff, especially Ms. Annie, greeted us with a smile as we entered Cafe Jeepney. In the event of possible rain, the staff out at the front of the hotel, would offer us an umbrella. The Executive Housekeeper, Mr. Randy, helped us check in early and check out late from our room, due to our airline itinerary. Our safe in our room needed a battery, but instead 4 of your staff members carried in another safe to replace our safe. Now that's what I call service! The Hotel airport shuttle service was prompt in both picking us up and dropping us off. The Hotel airport shuttle service driver took a route to avoid traffic which was quite nice. We also used room service, the swimming pool, the gym, and dined at Prince Albert. All with superb service. I could go on with more accolades, but I can summary with the staff makes you feel like you are in "Home Sweet Home." 11 July 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Business/Leisure trip Everyone from work uses the InterCon when traveling to Manila. I have heard so many great details about it prior to my first time visiting a few weeks ago. The breakfast buffet was as terrific as advertised. The location is in a prime hot spot with many activities in the neighborhood. I would rate this a 4 to 5 star hotel and recommend this place to everyone traveling to Manila. 07 July 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor hotel in need of renovation! I stayed at the Intercontinental Manila whilst there on a business trip and I was very disappointed. The hotel was grim! It clearly hasn't been upgraded for many years and it looks old and tired. The room was initially clean when I arrived, but apart from a made up bed, it was questionable if it was cleaned each day during my stay. It was also a nightmare to get any taxis and the overall general experience was not good. Everything that myself and my colleagues asked the staff was either not possible or they didn't know ( and they're were very average requests!) Overall I would recommend this hotel to a friend. Other nearby hotels like the Shangri La are miles better! 23 June 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Bathroom Hi there, It was my first time to stay at Makati InterCon, but the bathroom is very poor, especially the lavatory faucet that is too small and too short to have plenty place to use it. The pillow is also horrible. I found 1 phillow has some black color mark in the cover. and also it is not comfortable enough. 23 June 2014

Special mention to the Club Lounge hosts for their charming service & especially to Myca whom remembered the treat from my previous stay & diligently followed up with such refined service. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Poor communication/Mishandling of room reservation The hotel has potential to be a great experience with its location and beautiful lobby and entrance area. The staff are courteous enough. The problem I experienced in my two day stay was with first, a botched reservation giving me a smoking room when a non-smoking was requested. Three weeks prior to my stay I called IHG and found that my reservation was for a smoking room. I informed them I am a non-smoker and requested to have this fixed to a non-smoking room. The IHG Agent was helpful and after a few minutes verbally confirmed that the reservation had indeed been changed and that I was confirmed for a non-smoking queen or king bed room. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk informed me that I had a smoking room with two twin beds. As I am 6'1" and I had previously changed and confirmed this reservation three weeks ago I told them this was unacceptable. I was informed that there was nothing they could do for that evening. No information even on upgrading to a larger room or non-smoking room, simply that I would HAVE to stay in a smoking room for the night. After a few minutes of calling and checking their computers, they informed me that I would be staying in a 'converted' non-smoking room. Not sure what that means, but when I arrived in the room, it of course smelled like a cigarette and an ash tray. I called the help line in the room and they stated that the only thing they could do was to send up more air freshener and an Ozonizer to help with the smell. Neither arrived and I was forced to sleep in the room that night. The following day I was given the chance to switch rooms. This is when I realized that the different departments or duties of individuals at this hotel do not communicate with each other well. I asked for additional time to get ready to switch rooms when contacted by the front desk at 9:45AM which they said was fine. At 1015AM I attempted to contact the front desk to let them know I was ready. However, no answer was received at the front desk despite trying twice within a 10 minute time frame. I thought this is heavy check out time so I gave it a pass. I called the service help line and they told me they would contact the front desk and get someone to help me change rooms. I waited. This did not happen. 10 minutes later at 10:30AM the front desk called my room and asked me to call them when I was ready to switch. I told them I had been trying to reach them for almost 20 minutes now to do just this. Obviously the help line never got ahold of them either. Later that day I needed assistance from the concierge in regards to location of a restaurant and to make a reservation for a SPA session with an outside provider. Each time I tried to contact the Concierge throughout the day, I was met with an unanswered ring or transferred to the operator after unsuccessful attempts. I finally contacted the in room help line and they also could not contact the concierge for the assitance that I needed. The help line operator finally took the phone number and information that I needed to give to the concierge and made the reservations for me. The other questions earlier in the day remained unanswered and I was left to figure it out on my own. The lack of communication between departments, the hotel not getting the IHG line reservation change, and the inability to get assistance when needed is so uncharacteristic of any InterContinental I have stayed at before. Highly disappointing. 21 June 2014
