Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by shabby carpets, defunct internet, blocked plumbing Everything that can go wrong in a property has gone wrong in this one. to start with, The internet never works in the rooms. call the reception and the only solution they have is for you to restart your machine. the carpets in the rooms are so dirty - see picture attached. The plumbing in the toilets is atleast 50 years old and every outlet is clogged. The flush is a whirlpool which you HAVE to witnesss should you wish to clear your show! The menus in the restaurants are miserable because all of them feed off one kitchen so essentially it is the same stuff being served in different forms and shapes. While rooms do their worst, the hotel proudly displays signs of an ongoing remodeling in the public spaces (meeting rooms in the basement etc.) - shows the management's priority. Finally, sleep quality. I was startled at midnight by my neighbour who was violently beating on the door that separates adjoining rooms. When i called hotel security, they investigated and found that the intoxicated neighbor found the volume of CNN playing on my TV too loud and instead of calling the hotel staff, decided to take matters into his own hands and beat up the door in between the rooms. The hotel's solution to the problem? Move me into another room at midnight, a room with a shabbier view and the incovenience of repacking all my stuff because the guy next door was drunk. In summary, Intercontinental is ruining its brand name working with "Movich" etc and should look at alternatives fast. This is a typical problem of local companies trying to deliver on a global experience. Overall, an extremely lousy experience. 26 May 2014

Las habitaciones urge sean remodeladas, me he hospedado en habitaciones de todas las categorías del hotel y TODAS huelen a polvo, aire acondicionado en mal estado, colchones y almohadas bastante viejas, alfombras sucias. La ubicación es la adecuada para mi trabajo, así como los servicios de salones y multimedia que proveen. 13 May 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service This was my third stay at this Hotel. As always, my experience was great. The service here is impeccable. The hotel is a little older, but the great staff makes up for it. The front desk staff, day and night, go out of their way to accommodate you. The doorman was very courteous and helpful. I would get back to the hotel late every night and there is 24 hour room service. Thank you for another pleasant experience at your hotel. 13 May 2014

Meal service in Fogon was excellent, if you can try their hot stone specialities. Spa, pool and gym was awesome. Overall customer services was great, will still recommend this property. 07 April 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect I had no issues during my stay at the InterContinental Medellin. The room was clean and very comfortable, maybe too comfortable, I didn't want to leave the hotel. The food was delicious and was delivered within 10-20 minutes to my room, which is a huge plus in my book. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. When I travel to Medellin in the future, I will only stay at the IC Medellin. 25 March 2014

La habitación si bien era espaciosa, estaba pobremente amueblada y se le notaban los años. La moqueta tenía manchas visibles en varias parte. El servicio es excelente. Sin embargo tuve un incidente muy desagradable en el check inn, que no solo duró casi media hora, sino que un empleado me trató de forma francamente descortés. Entiendo que estaba en prácticas. Las señoritas que me atendieron después fueron eficientes y muy amables, como es la costumbre en ese hotel. 23 March 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff & service Everything was perfect except the carpet in the room showed some signs of wear and some staining. Everyone always greeted me with a smile, a comment, and asked how they may be of assistance. The bartenders and servers were exceptionally friendly. I walk with a cane and one young lady even brought me a pillow. Thank you to every one at Hotel Intercontinental Medellin! 13 March 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Hotel good swimming pool I stay at this hotel every time I visit Medellin and every time I write a note which say find another hotel for your next stay. The hotel is old, there are only 7 upgraded rooms which are decent but they are always occupied. As platinum member I have never been upgraded. The breakfast has a lot of variety but the decor is so bad. They do have a nice swimming pool and tennis courts which are the main reason why I stay there. The location is very convenient also I would recommend this hotel if you play tennis or like to swim, other than that, there are plenty of newer cleaner hotels In Medellin. 05 February 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Bad Experience As a regular Intercontinental user I was appalled by the overall uncleanliness and decay of the rooms at the Intercontinental Medellin. The carpet in my room was heavily stained including blood stains near the door of the bathroom. The overall room decor was worn down - Furniture was chipped, dirty and stained. The room curtains were dirty and had holes in several places. The shower was filthy and the lighting in the room was deplorable. I was unable to sleep the entire time I was there due to a high level of noise in the hallways including the maid staff having conversations at high volume at 7am. My room key did not work on a number of occasions and I had to have a staff member walk up to my room with me more than once to be able to get into my room. As someone that is a native of Medellin I am embarrassed to think what people must think of our city when they stay at your property. I will never stay at this property again - absolutely disgusting. 26 January 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service...Property Needs Upgrade I arrived and was given an upgrade to a Junior Suite, this was a mistake.... the little kids next door decided to have running matches in the hallways until 1am. I had dinner in the restaurant and it was excellent..great service and ambiance. I took a shower... but no hot water...after some problem solving...found out that the markings on shower knob were flipped and the blue section was for hot water not the red(like it is in the rest of the world). Overall the stay was nice, but the property does need some upgrades...still I would recommend this property to anyone staying in Medellin. 13 January 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This hotel needs serious updating and cleaning up. This is my 4th time staying at the hotel, and I can honestly say it will be my last time. I am not one to write negative reviews, but I am hoping this gets posted so that other people don't get the same experience. 1) Room cleanliness is horrible. Stains on the carpets everywhere. I am not talking just one or 2 stains, it is a bunch. I will see if my photos get posted. 2) I was accused of taking items from the mini-bar upon checkout. I did not use any items from the mini-bar. 3) I prepaid my room......don't ever do this. As a foreigner you are entitled the tax back. I did not get my tax back, they overcharged my room $140.92 USD saying that there was tax and insurance that was not put in the estimate. After going back and forth with accounting it was determined that the final discrepancy was due to exchange rates......Not likely. I am very concerned about this discrepancy. 4) Bed comfort is almost unbearable. They are extra firm and very close to like sleeping on the floor. They have not changed the bed mattress in the last 4 years since I have been staying at the hotel. 5) Hotel food is very average. Much better food outside of the hotel especially right across the street. 6) They completely overcharge for breakfast that is very average. The wait staff in the breakfast area were demanding a tip on the first day. It was only buffet style and all they did was pour coffee and take away dirty dishes. I would certainly leave a tip, but not demand one! 15 November 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible The hotel is completely deteriorated, requiring urgent a total renovation. The room was very dirty The windows did not close and falling parts of it. The shower doors were broken. The toilet was stained with blood. I moved to another room and there was no difference. Upon check out at 3:30 am, was delayed 20 minutes and charged me for 3 nights hotel taxes, and I only stayed 2 nights. This hotel does considerable damage to the image of Intercontinental hotels. It was not just my experience, my boss had the same problems. 01 November 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Intercontinental Worldwide The Intercontinental in Medellin is by far the best IC hotel world-wide. The service is extraordinary and all of the staff are very attentive to guests. The pool area outside is beautiful and it is just wonderful to sit and relax outside. The food is very good and the open air restaurant is a delight. I can't wait to go back. You just don't find service like this in US hotels. I was treated like a royal prince. 17 October 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Need for some upgrading The Hotel is very well located and easy to access. The building is probably about 40 years old and could do with a coat of paint on the outside and some upgrading inside, in particular with regard to technical devices from taps, plugs, lamps, phones down to the inadequate Wifi system. The overall inside appearance is fine, the common spaces and the rooms are clean and tidy. Staff members have rather basic knowledge of English and are, hence, shy to assist. This does not alter the fact that the employees are very friendly and are ready to help. Reception could be better organized (staff must constantly move from one end of the counter to the other because guest records are stored centrally in a remote corner), and there seems to be a problem with the handling of Amex Credit cards. This may lead to long waiting time at check-out. All in all a suitable comfortable hotel for business or leisure travel but not a place where I would want to host a larger group of people. 05 October 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Time machine Let's start with the good. Very little good things. Great pool and gym. Staff very friendly and willing to help. Now the bad. This hotel is so old that I felt like in 1970. Carpet is very dirty and with stains all over. The A/C controls are so old and don't work properly. The furniture is so old that I feel I was in my grandma bedroom. The room smelled like humidity every time I came into the room. There is no ventilation, the windows are blocked and only open 10 cms, a silly idea when the room small so bad. I can't understand why this hotel is still an Intercontinental, have nothing to do with the other Inter I had visited. 26 September 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Simplify internet and staff more people I stay in this hotel very often, and like it very much --- just a few recommendations: 1. Check-in was slow due to understaffing at the counter 2. Why don't you simplifly access to internet --- putting that check on a box everytime my laptop turns off is uncomfortable, and I dont get why you need that --- and accesing from a kindle of my phone gets messy 3. Chang the rugs in the rooms, they are way to old 26 August 2013
