Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Impeccable staff This is our second stay at this hotel, it is a beautiful hotel and a class above most other hotels in Melbourne. The door and reception staff are fantastic. The room very comfortable and spacious. The gym and pool first class. We ate in the restaurant one night and it was lovely,however the menu a bit limited especially with a couple of things on the menu not being available. The room we were in looked like it had been recelty rennovated and it was modern and tastefully decorated, our only fault was with the double option shower. it was a pain as it would aleays default to the rainforest overhead shower and we kept getting hit by a shot of cold water on the head whilst adjusting it to the forward nossle, also the slide to lower and raise the showers nozzle very difficult to move. Our only other issue was that we had our car with us on this trip and we were slugged a fair bit for the parking, $50 a night from memory, so would not recommend you stay if you have to park a vehicle. 11 October 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My Home in Melbourne - Great as Usual I returned to the Intercontinental Rialto in Melbourne for the third time, and the experience was as fantastic as usual. From the moment I stepped out of the cab and was greeted by Cliff, the doorman, to my last goodbye from the concierge, the hotel, staff, dining room, and bar were all I could ask for. Centrally located, and convenient to both Flinders Street and Southern Cross rail stations, the Rialto offers a wonderful base to explore the city and environs. Be it the casinos, Great Ocean Road, antique and jewelry shopping in the Central Business District, or great restaurants, bars, and pubs, you will find the Intercontinental Rialto to be the perfect base for your business or pleasure trip to Melbourne. 10 October 2014

My room preference is 99.9% granted and certainly spoken about if it was not possible. Comfortable beds, good food.....only complaint is the pool is too warm! Thanks 09 October 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Courtyard Suite - It's Another World We booked a Senior suite for a few days for 2adt 1 child. As an IC Ambassador we received an upgrade to a Courtyard Suite. We were disappointed the room was not available for early check in (12:30) They told us they would call us when the room was ready. When we did get into the suite, this was a magnificent Suite, which as the name suggests its own private courtyard. The room had a lovely large living area with sofas and chairs and ample room for the mini bar some storage and the coffee machine. The king bed was luxurious but then when you stepped into the ensuite this was another world. A shower that has to be seen to be believed, a large soaking tub which is also a spa bath and has its own TV - yep watch TV while in the bath! There was one IC Ambassador benefit that I think was not delivered on and that was the in room gift. When I asked, the front desk said that the gift for Amb they give was bottled water and fruit. Well we didn’t get the fruit in the first instance, this was delivered after I told them we did not receive it. The hotel itself is a beautiful hotel. We had never experienced a stay where we had club access, but we did for this stay and I must say I was very impressed. The irony was, that given our suite was so big (and we had a very large courtyard) the "need" to get away from the room just wasn't there, like you sometimes have when you are in a standard hotel room. But we did avail ourself of the club and the afternoon tea on the weekend of freshly baked scones and coffee.The Canapes and drinks in the evening and of course the breakfast. We did have one issue where the club concierge made a dinner reservation for us at a local steakhouse. There are two in close proximity and despite being clear which one we wanted the reservation for, it was made for the incorrect one. It didn't matter the restaurant could seat us, however this was a monday night, on a mid or later in week I doubt this would be the case. I have rated the service as good and not excellent. let me explain. Our experience was that we found the front desk, concierge during the week and most of the staff we passed in the halls to be less than friendly. Not unfriendly or rude, but not pleasant or welcoming. There were few staff that greeted us with a good morning/afternoon/hello. Of course some did, but both my wife and i note that we both had observed there was definitely a lack of the welcoming nature we would have expected. It was probably quite pronounced for us as we had only recently stayed at another similar styled hotel on the Gold Coast, and their welcoming was so obvious and frequent (and in French!) that the lack of it at IC Melbourne was stark for us. I must say that the concierge we saw on Sunday when we arrive was exceptionally helpful with providing transport information for us. We did not eat dinner or lunch in either of the hotel restaurants. We weren’t really taken by either of the menus, but other than that we can non comment on the quality of the food there The buffet breakfasts were great selection very good with a chef on hand to cook eggs and ommlets how you like. Overall we had a great stay and we would defiantly come back. I stay at this hotel for work when in Melbourne, and while I don’t stay in a suite the rooms are very nice albeit hotel room sized. 09 October 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good service/ hard zip bed Another typically high quality intercon hotel in a great part of Melbourne, good rooms, hotel never seems crowded or overly busy. Gym could do with some new gear particularly free weights etc, but was functional. bar is good but service is slow, or may have just been when we were there. 09 October 2014

Everything in the room from the comfortable beds, soft pillows, electric curtains and magnificent bathroom were just beautiful. The location is perfect to walk everywhere. We stayed at The Rialto for one week on our trip to Australia in September 2014 and were extremely pleased with the hotel accommodations and staff. The hotel is conveniently located with easy access to restaurants, museums, parks and of course Footy games. We were especially impressed with the hotel staff. From the moment we arrived at the hotel entrance, the staff exhibited a friendlessness and courtesy that remained throughout our stay. The hotel staff represents many different cultures and countries and this only adds to the character of The Rialto of Melbourne. A truly wonderful experience. 07 October 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I love this hotel This is a hotel with a great location, fantastic rooms and genuinely good service. I stay here as often as I can and have never had a bad experience! An unexpected and much appreciated upgrade on my last stay made what had been a very long, tough business day melt away. Breakfast in bed the next morning made it a lot easier to face the next working day too! On previous stays I've enjoyed the day spa and of course always stock up on the fab chocolates - I recommend this hotel to my friends and colleagues for both business and holiday visits. 07 October 2014

We were very disappointed to find that noise from a function in the hotel and noise from the bar were very intrusive, making sleep difficult until late at night. The lack of fresh air (balcony doors are locked) and with the air conditioner s down as low as it would go the room was still hot and stuffy.Sleep not aided by a little to much red wine. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel great location The Melbourne Intercon is very well located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. The hotel is very clean and it has been renovated and updated. The hotel has put in place two ambassador levels my room had some views but most rooms dont have views. The staff are very friendly and I was especially assisted by the concierge James who has been at the property for a number of years and goes out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. I would recomend the hotel for your consideration it is one of the best hotels in Melbourne overall. 02 October 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location, good shower The location of this hotel is great, right on Collins Street in the city. However, once inside the main doors, the reception is quite hidden - it's not immediately apparent. When I checked in and went to find my room, I saw that the signage could be much improved. For an unfamiliar guest like me, it is hard to figure out which corridor to take to find my room, particularly if I have to double-back out of the lift, to find the corridor (instead of taking the stairs directly in front of the lift doors.) Reception was excellent and the gymnasium is good, with 24hr access. My room was very small, there was not much room around the bed - far too small if two people had been trying to use the room. It is a problem not to be able to switch off all the lights once a guest is in the bed - having to get out and scramble under furniture to find light switches. The bathroom was nice with excellent shower and towels. The mirror placement in the shower was perfect - very practical. Overall, the hotel seems dark. I didn't use the dining services. 21 September 2014
