i was booked at another hotel which was not acceptable when i arrived. it was formula one weekend in melbourne; the busiest weekend of the year. there were no hotel rooms in sight but i was lucky and found a cancellation at the intercontinental and rushed over to secure the booking.
andrew at the front desk was a pleasure, making me feel i had come home to the right place and did everything possible to make sure my stay was excellent. thanks for saving what could have been a disaster!

From our time of arrival my husband and I were treated
with exceptional attention and felt very special. It was a special occasion and we are very pleased with our experience. Best bed and pillows. ever! Magnificent breakfast... planning another stay very soon.

Staff are great, nice position in the city but the atrium, as much as it looks amazing, allows all noise to echo! From people having drinks and laughs in the bar, to crying babies at 7.15am - it all echoed!

From the moment I walked in, to the time I hoped in a taxi the day after leaving the Intercontinental the service was nothing short of sensational, let me explain.
I joined you Friday and left Saturday, after checking out I was standing outside waiting to be picked up by friends, the doorman walked over and gave a bottle of water, I'm unsure if it was the forethought or I really need some water, by I appreciated it.
Then on the Sunday when leaving for the airport, after lunch in the city I said to my sister who lives south to just drop me out front of the Intercontinental and I'd get a taxi to the airport, when arriving I informed the doorman who was straight to open the door to the taxi expecting I was an arriving guest, that I was merely grabbing a taxi from their rank, he proceeded to inform me that was fine, hailed a cab forward and helped me with my bags out of the car and into the taxi, then opening the door for me.
Absolutely above and beyond the call of duty

Upon arrival we received an upgrade to a nicer room which was lovely as it was our 32nd wedding anniversary and we quite often go to the Intercontinential each year to celebrate. So that was a nice gesture. I have a lower back problem and am always concerned when sleeping on an unfamiliar bed but the bed in the room was wonderful. I loved the cover over the mattress - made for a lovely night's sleep.

I stayed here for the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend and found the hotel to be in a superb location for accessing Southbank, Docklands, trams, trains, buses as well as all the inner city activities Melbourne has to offer. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. I didn't use the hotel restaurant or room service, however the menus did look tasty and at a reasonable price.
I would definitely stay here again

The two James in concierge were great. Dinner suggestions were spot on. The events for wine and cheese festival and off beat lunch places were great fun. This is a high end staff.
Room and location were wonderful.
We enjoyed our three nights.

We loved our stay, on arrival we had a very friendly greeting by Cliff, he was very cheerful and friendly, it made our stay memorable. Even the sent in the foyer was lovely, and the staff was very pleasant.
I look forward to my next stay, the staff and service make my stay very pleasent.

- noise levels from trash colection at 4:45am (especially bottles) and no proactiveness to solve the situation, ended up being switched to another room after declining to accept ear plugs as the first solution proposed by the hotel (did not receive an upgrade to a better room as was suggested by FD manager when changing)
- breakfast is expensive and service is not up to its price

I stay here semi regularly and the staff always remember me as a returning guest. The service is always uniformly consistent ie each visit the same high standard and all staff have the same high standard of customer service.

Absolutely loved our stay here. From the moment we stepped out of the car, to well after we checked out, the staff were amazing, helpful and overall extremely friendly.
The rooms were luxurious, spacious and just wonderful. We loved the comfort of the bed so much that we are looking to buy one for ourselves.
Nothing is a problem, the staff are approachable and truly know what customer service is.

The Concierge on duty (a tall fair haired englishman) provided a very warm welcome and was extremely helpful, as were the staff on reception. I was particulalry impressed as the concierge recalled me by name, both upon arrival and then again when departing.
Unfortunatley, the room I was allocated 136 (from memory) was adjacent to the Rialto Plaza escalators, which I was initially unconcerned about. However, I discovered they ran all night and their constant rumbling made sleeping challenging, which is unfortunate as one of the Intercontinental's great attributes is the good night's sleep it generally provides.
Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

First impressions are so important.
Whilst the counter staff were most pleasant and helpful the same could not be said for the concierge.
We noted that he was not to be seen for most times we were in the lobby.
i can only assume he had other duties which were more important than attending to guests problems.

Excellent hotel with the only drawbacks being the TV is mounted on the side wall so to watch it from the bed requires distorting the spine to an uncomfortable position. Valet parking is efficient but at $50 a pop is too expensive.

The last two time I have stayed I found it difficult to get a tea or coffee in the dining room at breakfast time. On previous occasions when seated your staff ask if you would like tea or coffee and shortly after which it is delivered to your table. However the last two times I have had to ask for it more than once. This time I had to ask 3 times and then they got the wrong order. I had two guests with me and we were running out of time so just took the order. I am sorry that someone else was probably equally annoyed as I had their order. One of my guests for breakfast was my client and I was quite embarrassed. This really does need to be looked at please.
The rest of my stay was great as usual.

The bar, club lounge and spa. Rooms are uber cool, love the addition of nespresso machines.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Weekend at the Rialto
Our stay at the Rialto was great. The room was very clean and we really liked the bathroom soaps and shampoos etc. There was a full size bath tub too - very hard to find these days. The staff were very good - they really looked after us. We were able to use the Club Lounge and the service there was great. The food and drinks were very well presented and very tasty. Overall, a really great stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Love InterContinental Melbourne. Their staff are excellent and friendly and the room quality is good. It was a little noisy the first night with some guests returning late but I guess, that is out of the hotel's control. Will definitely be back!

Had a wonderful stay at the Intercontinental Melbourne for a wedding we were to attend. It was my first time as an Ambassador status member and I was really impressed by the member recognition and benefits I received. On check in we received a voucher for complimentary drinks at the hotel which was excellent. Special mention to James at concierge who was always happy to assist us in finding various breakfast spots! We had a wonderful stay! We will be back.

Generally, comfortable. But the toilet door lock had some problem and the door was hard to open. Just one toothbrush for two adult.

Nice property. Excellent staff. Room was an upgrade and nicely appointed except for balcony that was blocked with no view except for back of a Metal fence!! Room # 810.
