I stayed here to see a weekend of shows at the Milwaukee Rep Theater. The shows were right in the hotel so no need for this California girl to travel out into the blistering cold. One of the highlights was the wonderful bar right in the lobby where you can easily meet up with friends/family. The service was great. And seriously the CHOCOLATE BAR on the weekends is FANTASTIC. So good and a nice treat. Also, try the tuna tartar appetizer. It is delicious! The hotel staff were very nice and welcoming and on top of their game. My only gripe is the doors of the hotel rooms slamming constantly. I don't understand why hotels make these type of doors. It is very disruptive when one has to get up early to catch a ride to the airport at 3:30 am and doors are still slamming at 1 in the morning, not to mention most all of the time. Very noisy especially when the partiers are coming back to their rooms in the wee hours...SLAM, SLAM, SLAMMMMMM.

The InterconMKE is a favorite stay for my wife and me. We stayed here in June following our move back to WI from CA and again just after Christmas - which was our first time away since our move.
The staff recognized us as Platinum members and gave us some nice Platinum perks.
We were blown away (again) by the bar staff, and the lead bartender (who has a bald head, I forget his name) remembered us from our June visit. He took great care of us allowing us to order off the drink menu and made drinks especially fashioned for us.
Breakfast at Kilowat was amazing - as usual. Can't wait to come again.

It was my girlfriend and I first time staying at this hotel and the experience was great! Everyone was fantastic and kind. The bar was very good and the wait staff was polite. I would stay here again as we frequent the Riverside, Pabst, and Turner Hall. All within walking distance.
Food at the Kil@wat was excellent!
The only two issues I have is paying for parking. Actually never had to do this before and we have stayed in a lot of hotels in big cities. If you are paying a decent rate for a room, the parking should be included. Pretty simple. The hotel does make it easy to pay and to come and go without paying extra but it should be a part of the room.
Second - there isn't a fridge in the room. Come to find out on check out that you have to ask for one. Even though it is free...no one offered or even told us. Who would think to ask for a fridge? Not me. Most hotels have them in the rooms already. Maybe on check-in the front desk should ask the guest.
But overall it is a great place to stay!

This stay could have been much better if the staff followed through on their commitment. I had a friend join me and requested two double beds upon check in. The request couldn't be honored which is understandable. The associate said they would deliver a roll away bed immediately. I went to the room and no one arrived. I left for a work function assuming it would be there when I returned. It was not. I could live with this oversight. It was 11pm at this point and I called to request the extra bed again. I was told it would be delivered immediately. No one came and I was too tired to wait up any longer.

Most pleasing recognition of Platinum status with a superb upgrade. All the staff, from the valet/concierge to housekeeping were extremely helpful and friendly. Look forward to repeat visits.

We loved our stay at the Intercontinental... the rooms were modern and comfortable and the hotel was in a prime location. We would highly recommend this hotel to those looking for an economical place to stay in the heart of downtown Milwaukee!

Hotel was nice. Price was adequate. A few issues...Valet parking only. It seems as though a hotel like this would have plenty of parking. I had to pay for valet twice in one day because I wanted to go out for dinner. I was at the hotel for a convention, yet no one seemed to know where to go and the people at the loading dock were kind of rude. Lastly, I requested a receipt sent to my email and it never was. Called back to get one and the staff transfered me once and put me on hold twice. Again, yet to receive it so we will see.

CHECKING IN WAS REALLY EASY AND FAST AND THE WHITE AND GREEN JELLY BEANS MADE MY DAY.
YOUR MAINTENANCE MAN THAT FINALLY GOT HEAT IN OUR ROOM WAS FANTASTIC; YOU REALLY HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE HEATING MECHANISM WHICH REALLY SHOULD BE EXPLAINED TO GUEST ON CHECK IN.
THE PRICE OF A GLASS OF WINE AT THE BAR IS ATROCIOUS, I HAVE NEVER PAID 18 DOLLARS FOR A SMALL POUR OF WINE AT EVEN THE MOST EXCLUSIVE CLUBS.

Besides the great service and comfort your location is perfect. We saw Pink at the Bradley Center and we could walk to and from there easily. Valet parking is great. Loved the soaps shampoo and lotion in the bathroom. We will be back. Sue

I've stayed here on several occasions and have always had a positive experience. Extreme cold the night I arrived, because of the cold I was offered 20% off my dinner if I chose to stay in and dine at the hotel. Nice touch!
The room I was given had a funky layout with two separate spaces connected with a narrow passage by the bathroom. I only used the bedroom portion, the front "room" really served no purpose. All in all I was pleased and will certainly return.

Had a great stay around Jan 1. 2014. Hotel was very quiet for the calender day, the food was very good, and the common areas of the hotel were very clean and updated. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quite funny. I would definitely stay at this property again because of the staff, the modern amenities, and the location of the hotel.
The only negative I would have to say was that the cleanliness of the room was not the 5-star cleanliness that InterContinental has spoiled me with. It just slightly under that. I no way was the room was dirty or unlivable. But there were a few spots around the room that could have used a second pass with the vacuum. It was just the little things that made me knock the room cleanliness a 4 out of 5, so I really cannot list this as a con or a deal breaker.

I enjoyed my time overall at The Intercontinental hotel- Milwaukee, however was a little annoyed on one of the evenings between 2am-5am I was woken up by loud neighbors talking loudly, drunk, making inappropriate noises and other guests in the hall knocking on the doors and yelling being very disrespectful.
I understand things happen, but I would have appreciated getting some sort of compensation, as baby was with me and it was quite irritating.

As we visit family in Milwaukee for Christmas, we usually stay in a suburban hotel but this time we decided to check out the city hotels. This hotel was a DELIGHT! Beautifully decorated lobby, a warm reception at desk and comfortable rooms that overlooked the city's holiday lights. We also enjoyed the ice skating across the street and a walk to Water Street Brewery for a tasty burger and beer.

We stayed here for a wedding on new years eve. We were placed on the top floor and had a great view of city hall and red arrow park. However at over $200 for one night, we were not overly impressed. The ceiling had water damage, there was a big stain on a lamp shade, one of the chairs in the room was very crooked and made a loud squeaking sound whenever anyone sat in it. On new years day, a hotel staff member came around at 9:30am knocking on the door yelling "minibar!" repeatedly, and then tried to open our door without asking. We were checking out that day before noon and had people getting dressed, so I didn't really think it was necessary for the guy to just barge in.

I stayed at the Intercon on New Year's Eve and I was very pleased. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the room was nice and warm when I arrived. The bathroom was a little small and the tub a bit old looking but overall I was very pleased with the room. The room service was fast. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and welcoming!

Eight members of our extended family stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental in Milwaukee for three nights and four days at Christmastime. We were celebrating Christmas in Milwaukee so that we could be with elderly parents, one of whom was quite ill. It was cold and snowy, and our group consisted of a wide range of ages. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay warm, comfortable and cheerful. We had such fun playing ping-pong, savored Christmas Day brunch at Kilowat, cocktails at Clear and beautiful linens on our beds. We were delighted when we returned to our rooms late Christmas Eve to find cookies and milk in our children's rooms.
Three of our party had a hand in making the reservations for four different rooms, some online and some over the phone. The front desk staff were incredibly patient and gracious. Nadia and Caterina in particular were lovely, patiently sorting out who should be in what room, who had payed in advance, who still owed, etc...We had quite a bit of difficulty with room keys not working, which was unfortunate, but again, front desk staff were very helpful. We also needed to get into one another's rooms from time to time and staff were great about accommodating our needs.
Sadly, we needed to return to the hotel on January 2 for the funeral of one of our parents. We had the good fortune to speak with Nadia to make the reservation and even more good fortune when we arrived at the hotel to see her smiling face at the desk. In our grief we had made the reservations for the wrong night and Nadia calmly, graciously and with sensitivity accommodated the change.
Only downsides were that the bathrooms, tubs and showers in particular, could use some updating, and cleanliness could have been increased - particularly under the seating in our rooms - more thorough vacuuming was in order. Room temperature was also challenging - often too hot or too cold. However, in the scheme of things, we feel most fortunate to have stayed at the Hotel Intercontinental for two recent visits.

Stayed here for the night even though we live in Milwaukee for a get away and a Pabst show. Location coudn't be better for doing great things in Milwaukee. We walked to Rock Bottom for dinner (1/2 block)-great food, were able to drop off coats in the room and stay indoors to enter the Pabst theater, walked across the street to The Safehouse and had a great breakfast in bed. Room was spacious, clean and had a great view of ice skating at Red Arrow Park.

Although my situation was taken care of after numerous emails and phone calls, I do not think the hotel should put snacks and drinks in the room to buy. We did not take the snacks or drinks and I received an email later in the day I checked out with an invoice charging me for the snacks and drinks. Obviously, the person(s) before us took the items and weren't charged or the wrong room was charged. The hotel should put a vending machine down the hallway instead. Also, the gift shop has snacks and drinks customers can buy.
Pillow are way too hard and uncomfortable to sleep on.
There was not a pole lamp by the chairs to read, which there is in another room I stayed in the past.
Otherwise, I have no complaints when it comes to the service from check-in to check-out and the door men. Everyone is very friendly and helpful whenever I have a question or a problem.

We love the Intercontinental Hotel line. We've stayed at IC's in several cities across the US. Our favorite being the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco. Milwaukee's can be a hit or miss. Typically it's a hit, but there have been a few times where it's been a total miss. They always make up for those misses, but really, in a hotel of this caliber, the misses shouldn't be happening.
This last stay was lovely. Thankfully! The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The stay was wonderful. I loved that the welcome amenity included blackberries and raspberries.

I would say that this was a great experience except for a small detail. We had booked our room online and everything was paid for before we arrived. We left Chicago early in the morning and we knew that we wouldn't be able to check in until 3 p.m. So we walked around Milwaukee for most of the day until we could check in. Upon arrival we checked in and then asked to give a Credit Card incase there were any type of damages later on. I agreed and handed over my Debit Card. I was asked to sign a paper at check in, and the front desk clerk sent us on our way. After we check out the next day, I notice that my Bank account was charged 50 dollars. I called the hotel on Monday and asked if there was a problem, and why I was charged. The gentleman told me that Debit Cards are charged a 50 hold charge for damages. I asked why it wasn't mentioned to me when I checked in, and he stated that it said it on the bottom of the sheet that I signed. Listen, I get it, it is my responsibility to read the paper. But what I would appreciate was that you would let me know that and then point to the area where it is stated. We were freezing and exhausted, and it takes 1 minute to mention something like that. Now I have to wait until the end of the week for my 50 dollars to get put back onto my card.

Very friendly staff. Helpful with information. Forgot garmet bag when checking out and ran it over to me as I was getting on the elevator.
Only negative about the room, was the cleanliness. It looked as if the room hadn't been vacuumed. Floor dirty all around the beds. Bathtub dirt and hair in it.

Too sum up the stay in one word...Fantastic!
Everyone, and I do mean everyone of the staff I spoke with were friendly, knowledgeable and gave off an air of appreciation that we were their guests. Late check out no problem. Directions to local attractions, the staff did not miss a beat. Menu suggestions in their dining room were a grand slam. The room amenities were spot on and the view was phenomenal. If there was a draw back it would have been the bed...it was so comfortable it was difficult to get up in the morning. Could not have asked for a more enjoyable or memorable weekend. We will be back.
