INSIDER TIPS

DID YOU KNOW ?

Grutas de García y Grutas de Bustamante

Caverns are only found in a few places in the world, and in Monterrey there are two big ones to explore: Grutas de Bustamante and Grutas de García, which has huge, fantastically shaped natural formations.

Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary

In September, the monarch butterflies come to the area. If you're here then don't miss the arrival of these beautiful insects to the Cumbres, Monterrey's national park. They stay here to enjoy the good weather, then go on to Michoacan, Mexico city. They return in February and March.

WHAT TO PACK

Photo Camera

There's a lot to see and a lot to photograph: buildings, mountains, markets, paintings and sculptures.

Check the weather and pack a warm coat for Winter and light clothing for Summer.

Bring some pesos with you if you can. However, you can exchange as much as $1,500 pesos (about $130USD) at the front desk of our hotel. If you need more than that, there is an exchange kiosk within walking distance.

If you decide to explore or go walking in the mountains, it's a good idea to pack comfortable shoes.
