Great Location - same excellent Intercontinental standards

My wife and I and my son and his wife stayed for 4 nights as family treat. The greeting we received was very warm and friendly and the complimentary cocktail vouchers was a generous and welcoming bonus that enabled us to say "cheers" on our first night and start our break in style.

As a frequent user of Intercontinental hotels I am very familiar with the quality and standard of the their rooms and services, however for my wife, son and his wife this was their first taste of a luxury hotel. They were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed their few nights in luxury. Having a choice of pillow types - to order - was very helpful as each could sleep comfortably without compromise. Full size bath and separate rain shower, high quality shower and bath amenities - these too went down very well.

The front desk were very helpful in arranging transport in the evening to the concerts we had booked - smart chauffer drive BMW 5 series which did not break the bank and made us feel safe and secure when travelling in the evening.

Sightseeing is easy - Tverskaya Metro station is 5 minutes walk - and the Kremlin just 20 minutes away. Moscow is large but rewards walking - so do not be afraid to pack some good shoes!

We ate our late evening meals (22.30 onwards) exclusively in the lobby bar and restaurant which was a very relaxing place to be. Aside from the cocktails (Martini and Tonic - very refreshing) there was a good selection of draft beers and an excellent wine list. (The 3 Bears draught beer went down very well - I wish I had been cheeky and asked for a souvenir pint glass!). Service was brisk and efficient. The variety of food offered was very broad spanning classic Russian and Western European standards. It was cooked to an excellent quality. I particularly liked the White Mushroom Risotto.

The primary purpose of the visit was to see the Iron Maiden concert - which was of itself fantastic. However - the Crowne Plaza provided the comfort, relaxing environment and friendly ambience to make every day of our stay that much more enjoyable.

Modern hotel in the center of Moscow

Very convenient location. Close to metro Tveskaya and walkable to many attractions. Excellent service. Great for business travel. Had a pleasant stay. Overall the room was great. Brie could have been better for a five star hotel. Minor issues with the TV.

Moscow Meeting

I was in Moscow to meet one of my companies Clients, and the Hotel was next door.
It was very convenient to stay there, and have stayed at the same hotel in Prague before, a few years ago.
All the staff were helpful, most spoke English, but most of all the room was very comfortable, and peaceful, and the bathroom was very modern.
Perfect.

A wonderful ,hotel well located and a real in ter continental land mark attentive staff very courteous and provided all needs and more
However I must point out 2 matters for improbvement:
TRANSPORTATION COUNTER- It is unacceptable that a driver you indicated does notr know moscow especially a theatre where there was a folkloric show(forgot the name) that he drove for 20 minutes to find the number.
CONCIERGE- When a guest asks for a place to change money to Rubles he shoul;d indicate not only ATM that is mor expensive and the hotel gets a profit from it but also a change place located 5 min utes walk towards the METRO !
When giving instructions how to get to Pushkin Restaurant he needs to draw on a map exactly as there is contruction there and "across from MacDonald gets you nowhere as there is a park you cannot cross and in the rain end up walking 20 minutes around the block!

Great service and recognition

I enjoyed my stay in hotel as staff were really helpful and always offered help. Person in the concierge gave me all the required information I needed without me asking. Also upon checkin they have recognized me as a gold member which makes me feel valued as a customer.

The only hotel in IHG, who do everything to show guests, with high loyalty level, that they are not desirable guests.

I had a three times experience of stay in this hotel, after which, I can make a conclusion, that the level of management in this hotel leaves much to be desired.
As I understand, general manager of this hotel doesn’t care, what happens in his hotel and what his team members do.
During my stays always something happened, that forced me to feel uncomfortable.
First time, when I arrived, as Royal Ambassador member, I was upgrated from deluxe to superior room with lounge access. Beginning was good. But, when I asked a club staff about the hotel police about mini bar, it was a problem to get an answer. According to IHG rules, mini bar is complimentary for Royal Ambassador members, but the club staff member said, that the hotel policy is changing and they can offer to me choice: only 1 bottle white or red wine and unlimited soft drinks from mini bar. I was surprised such restrictions, which were not mentioned in program rules and asked to discuss with Duty manager.
After 20 minutes expectation I didn’t get any information about the possible time of requested meeting with Duty manager, so I left the Lounge and go down to reception to find Duty manager.
I was lucky – Duty manager was the same person, who checked me in on arrival, and as I found later Quality manager of this hotel – mr. Anjey. After my conversation with mr. Anjey, I was surprised much more, because Quality manager of this hotel considered, that it was normal, that staff members didn’t answer the guest, when he could meet with me. I also asked, why in an hour after my arrival I didn’t get fresh fruits in my room, which is one more privilege for Ambassador members. Quality manager explained to me, that they need some time to do it. It’s ok, probably IC have few thousands guests and in 5 stars hotel they don’t have enough staff. We settled the question with mini bar. I had confirmation, that the hotels policy is changing, but this time mini bar is complimentary. Really, I didn’t use this privilege and drunk small bottle of white wine.
The second stay was great till the moment, they asked me, how I am going to pay for lounge access for the second guest, who was indicated in my hotels booking and lived in my room. I was surprised, because, according to the IHG rules: Ambassador and Royal Ambassador benefits apply only to the member’s personal room.
I discussed it with Guest Relations and Club Lounge Manager – Mrs. Polina, who checked the rules agreed with me and the problem was resolved, but the impressions a bit spoiled. I asked Mrs Polina, what unpleasant surprises I can expect from the hotel on my next stay, which was planed in a week. I was assured, that everything would be ok, and no unpleasant surprises. Mrs. Polina asked me to fill in research, which I would get after my stay.
The most interesting things began after I filled the research.
I got a comments from Quality manager Anjey, that they didn’t break IHG rules and didn’t take payment for the second guest simply like exclusions, because IHG rules unclear and “because of financial question” they had to take money for the second guests and make limitations in mini bar policy.
It was first time in my practice, that Quality manager in 5 stars hotel explained to the guest, that poor hotel can’t afford to implement IHG rules without their own exclusions. If Quality manager don’t see the difference between terms: benefits apply to the member’s personal room and benefits apply to guest, what standards and quality can be in this hotel.
I send an answer to Quality manager with my explanation and decided to call Mrs. Polina – Guest Relations and Club Lounge Manager. One more surprise I found. Mrs Polina was off and operator on my question, when I can have a conversation with Guest Relations Manager, said, that according to the hotel policy, they don’t provide such information.
Could you imagine it? They don’t give information, when guest can talk with Guest Relations Manager. I had a phone conversation with Duty manager Nadezhda, who said, that she heard about my question, but I will get an answer at check-in.
What do you think they decided to do? First, they asked what time I prefer to get a bottle of wine (this question was discussed with Mrs. Polina earlier), made an upgrade to the next class of room, but refused to a Lounge access at all. No information about mini bar policy was provided.
At check-in staff member didn’t inform me inicially, that they decided on to provide me Lounge access, but did it after my question.
Formally, the hotel didn’t break rules, because I booked a superior room and get upgrade to a suite. They could do it. But what do you think, how I evaluate all promises staff members? Each person is a chief and do, what they want.
At check out they asked me about mini bar consumption. I confirmed, that I used it, but was not going to pay for it. If the hotel refused to me to a Lounge access, I am not going to refuse my privileges, which are indicated in the program rules.
In general, I spent too much time and energy on IC Moscow staff members and don’t want to see them again.
