LOCAL ESSENTIALS

LOCAL
RECOMMENDATIONS

THE PERFECT DAY

MORNING

Enjoy an early power breakfast at the hotel's Corleone restaurant and take in the spectacular views of the sea. Then, get a lift with a local Cool Cab or hotel car to Victoria Terminus, a prime example of Victorian architecture and the 'lifeline of Mumbai' & over 2 million people pass through the station annually. End your morning at the Gateway of India on the waterfront of Colaba. This majestic stone arch was built in 1911 to commemorate the visit of George V.

AFTERNOON

At about 12.30pm, head to Churchgate Station where you will see the famous dabbawallas (tiffin carriers) in action, delivering homemade lunches from suburban households to office workers across the city. It's a Mumbai phenomenon: 5,000 dabbawallas deliver 170,000 meals daily, always on time and without error. Afterwards, head down to Crawford Market to stock up on good Indian spices, and to Chor Bazaar ('thieves' market'), where you will find a great assortment of antiques. A perfect lunch would be a delicious Indian biryani at the Delhi Darbar restaurant.

EVENING

Hire a horse carriage - one of the oldest modes of transport used by the Maharajas and Royal Highnesses - and ride from nearby Nariman Point through the illuminated streets of south Mumbai. After 9pm, it will take you along Marine Drive, the shoreline of the Arabian Sea, otherwise known as 'the Queen's necklace'. End your perfect day with a delicious seafood dinner at Trishna, arguably one of the best seafood restaurants in the country.
